IDF troops overnight Tuesday entered the Palestinian Arab village of Kobar, near Ramallah, and demolished the home of Omar Al-Abed, the terrorist who carried out the attack in Halamish on July 21.
Yossi, Chaya and Elad Salomon were murdered in the attack.

Earlier this week, five members of Al-Abed’s family were arrested on suspicion of failing to report a crime.
The mother of the terrorist was previously arrested and charged with incitement for praising her son's murderous act.
Al-Abed broke into the Salomon family home during a Friday night dinner as the family was celebrating the birth of a grandson.

Michal, Elad's wife, fled with their five children to the second floor, where they hid from the terrorist. A soldier who lives next door noticed the commotion and acted quickly to neutralize the terrorist.

The soldier was awarded a citation for stopping the deadly attack.

Israel condemns UNESCO vote

Israeli politicians from across the political spectrum slam 'anti-Semitic' UNESCO vote denying Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem.

Gary Willig,

Israeli leaders from across the political spectrum slammed the UNESCO vote to deny Israel's right to sovereignty over its capital city of Jerusalem Tuesday.
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said that fewer nations supported Tuesday's resolution than had supported similar anti-Israel UNESCO resolutions last year.

“Over the last two days I’ve had numerous conversations with various heads of state and foreign ministers about the absurd vote at the UN. The result is that a number of countries that support this absurd proposal is shrinking,” he says. “A year ago it was 32, six months ago it dropped to 26, and now its down to 22 countries,” Netanyahu said.

“I still want to make a systematic and consistent effort to reduce this even further, because these kinds of votes have no place at the UN,” Netanyahu added.

“Today there are more countries that support Israel or abstain than countries that oppose Israel,” he adds. “Its a change, for the first time.”

Opposition leader Yizthak Herzog called the resolution anti-Semitic.

“This [UNESCO resolution] is an anti-Semitic and anti-Israel disgrace that distorts the history of the Jewish people and their unshakable connection to their capital, Jerusalem,” Herzog said.

“This is a miserable, baseless and aggressive decision that will find itself in the garbage can of history, just like the accusation that Zionism is racism," Herzog added.

Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely said: “UNESCO’s expected political decision only harms the organization — which is supposed to preserve heritage and culture — by repeatedly misusing its role when it comes to Israel.”

“Israel does not need approvals from political bodies to connect the unshakable historical connection to our eternal capital, a connection that is over 3,000 years old and cries out from each and every stone in this city," she added.

Israeli President Reuvin Rivlin told foreign ambassadors gathered at his residence to celebrate Israel's Independence Day that their governments should respond to the resolution by recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moving their embassies there.

“It is time to put an end to the absurd. It is time to recognize Jerusalem, as the official capital of the State of Israel. De facto, not just de jure. It is time to move all the official embassies here, to Jerusalem,” Rivlin said.

22 nations voted to pass the resolution declaring that Israel's sovereignty over Jerusalem is null and void. 10 nations opposed the resolution while 23 nations abstained.

Holy Torah Scrolls Burned by Arabs in Judea by Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz - BREAKING ISRAEL NEWS

Holy Torah Scrolls Burned by Arabs in Judea

“Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her, and happy is every one that holdest her fast.” (Proverbs 3:17-18)
Arabs set fire to a number of holy Torah scrolls and a tent used for prayer and religious study in Givat Sorek, adjacent to the settlement of Karmei Tzur in Gush Etzion on Saturday night. The tent was less than 100 meters from the houses of the settlement and was also used as a gathering place for children, raising grave safety concerns.  The tent overlooks the spot where the bodies of three youths murdered in 2014 were found.
The holy books were gathered together into tall piles before being set on fire. Police said footprints were discovered leading from the scene to the nearby Arab village of Halhul, but have yet to arrest any suspects.

David Perl, head of Gush Etzion Regional Council, was deeply disturbed by the aftermath.
“These pictures are shocking. I am certain that holocaust survivors who experienced Kristallnacht and then founded Gush Etzion, never dreamed that they would see such pictures of burned books here, under Israeli authority,” said Perl, adding, “The government of Israel must control the Arab violence, that is claiming the lives and holiness of Israelis.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued the following statement on Facebook:
Benjamin Netanyahu -

Last night a synagogue in Givat Sorek, in Gush Etzion, was set on fire by Palestinians. We will prosecute the perpetrators of this crime. I expect the international community to condemn the desecration of a synagogue, an act that is the result of incessant Palestinian incitement.

Other government officials were equally disturbed by the incident. Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely said, “We cannot make peace with disgusting images such as these. The terrorists who carried out this attack wish to attack us as Jews. It does not matter to them where in Israel we live.”
The Head of the Jewish Home Party, Shui Mualem, told Arutz Sheva, “The burning of a synagogue with Jewish books and Torah scrolls inside is not unusual in villages that lie close to Arab towns. It happens across the entire country. The choir who preaches about each and every piece of graffiti that is anti Arab is again silent here. If a mosque were burnt they would not be so quiet.”

Israel burials set for 7 kids killed in NYC fire - USA TODAY

Israel burials set for 7 kids

killed in NYC fire

Seven children from an Orthodox Jewish family who died early Saturday when fire swept through their Brooklyn home are to be buried in Jerusalem, where the family had lived before emigrating to New York.

Funeral services for the four boys and three girls of the Sassoon family, ages 5 to 16, are to be held Sunday afternoon at a Brooklyn chapel that serves their religious community.
The bodies will then be flown to Israel and buried in Jerusalem at 2 p.m. Monday, the Israeli network Arutz Sheva reported. The family had lived there for many years before moving to the Midwood neighborhood of Brooklyn two years ago. A friend said the family had planned to return to Israel to live.
It was the city's deadliest fire since 2007.
Fire officials believe the blaze was started by a malfunctioning hot plate being used to keep food warm during the 25-hour Sabbath, when religious restrictions forbid cooking. The house had only one smoke detector, in the basement.
"I call this not a tragedy but an absolute disaster," said state Assemblyman Dov Hikind, who represents the district. "Everyone's in utter shock."
He urged the Orthodox community to make sure that hot plates were working properly and that smoke detectors were installed properly and functioning.
Authorities identified the Sassoon family victims as girls Eliane, 16; Rivkah, 11; and Sara, 6; and boys David, 12; Yeshua, 10; Moshe, 8; and Yaakob, 5. All were found in upstairs bedrooms of the two-story, brick-and-wood, single-family home.
Their 45-year-old mother, Gayle, a Brooklyn native, and 14-year-old sister, Tzipara, remained in critical condition Sunday at area hospitals. They survived by jumping from a second-story window. Gayle Sassoon reportedly was burned over 45% of her body, and Tzipara suffered broken bones and smoke inhalation.

"I heard a child yelling, 'Mommy! Mommy, help me!' " neighbor Andrew Rosenblatt told reporters. "I looked out the back window, and I saw flames, smoke. ... The smoke and the flames were horrendous."
Other neighbors said Gayle Sassoon was heard yelling, "My kids are in there! My kids are in there! Get them out! Get them out!"
Firefighters arrived about four minutes after the blaze was reported at 12:23 a.m. Saturday, but it was too late to save any of the children trapped inside.
"They're some of the nicest, most well-behaved kids," neighbor Isaac Apton told the New York Times. "A great family."
Another neighbor tearfully described them as "beautiful little children."
"It's unbelievable. It doesn't seem possible," Rose Insel, told the Associated Press, recalling how she had given the children lollipops after they shoveled her walk unprompted.
Their father, Gabi, was at a religious conference in Manhattan at the time and did not learn of the tragedy for several hours because of the Orthodox prohibition on electronic communications. He was found praying at a synagogue Saturday morning, and fell to his knees in tears when given the news, the New York Daily News reported.
"What will happen to us now? Where will I go?" he told Arutz Sheva on Sunday.
The Times said he met his wife when she moved to Israel after having divorced her high school sweetheart. They had eight children, and lived in the Har Nof neighborhood of Jerusalem for many years before moving to Brooklyn to be closer to her family.
They ultimately intended to return to Israel, a friend of the father said.
"You can't explain it, it's unbelievable," Alon Deri told the Israeli news site Walla! News. "I hope we wake up from this bitter dream. It's like the story of Hannah who dedicated her seven sons."

Netanyahu Blasts Obama Admin for Cursing Him

Netanyahu Blasts Obama Admin for Cursing Him

JERUSALEM, Israel -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he's under fire because he won't compromise the safety of Israel.

"When there is pressure on Israel to give up on its security, the easiest thing is to give up,"Arutz Sheva quoted Netanyahu's response at the Knesset.

"As prime minister, I stand for the security of Israel," he continued. "The life of every single citizen and soldier matters to me, and I am not prepared to make comprises that will endanger our country."

"Our interests are not on the minds of those who attack us -- or me -- personally," he said. "The attack on me comes because I defend the State of Israel and despite all the attacks, I will continue to defend our country and the citizens of Israel."

He added that he respects and values Israel's relations with the United States.

"The strategic alliance between the countries continues and will continue," he said.

Those were his first public remarks after The Atlantic quoted a senior Obama administration official calling Netanyahu a word that starts with "chicken."

The official told The Atlantic the good thing about Netanyahu was that he was afraid to launch wars, but the bad thing was he won't reach an accommodation with the Palestinian Authority or Sunni Arab states. Another White House official called Netanyahu a coward on a nuclear Iran and said he won't launch a pre-emptive strike.

Israeli Economy and Trade Minister Naftali Bennett called on the Obama administration to "immediately reject these gross comments."

"The prime minister of Israel is not a private person. He is the leader of the Jewish state and the entire Jewish people. Cursing the prime minister and calling him names is an insult not just to him but to the millions of Israeli citizens and Jews across the globe," Bennett wrote.

"The leader of Syria, who slaughtered 150,000 people, was not awarded the name 'chickens---,'" Bennett continued. "Neither was the leader of Saudi Arabia who stones women and homosexuals or the leader of Iran who murders freedom protestors."

"If what appears in the press is true, then it seems that the current U.S. administration is throwing Israel under the bus," Bennett wrote.

"Israel is the only democratic state in the Middle East and has been fighting 66 years to survive," he continued.

"Israel is at the forefront of the free world's fight against the Islamic terror of ISIS, Hezbollah, Hamas, and Iran. Instead of attacking Israel and putting it at risk, the world should be strengthening and supporting it."

In a heartfelt call to fans, the Maccabi Haifa soccer club called on its fans to “do a mitzvah (a good deed) and attend the funeral of fallen IDF soldier Nissim Sean Carmeli, so that his funeral will not be empty.”

The funeral for lone soldier Carmeli, whose parents live in Texas, is set to take place later Monday night, after his parents arrive in Israel.

Carmeli is one of the 13 combat soldiers who were killed in the close fighting at the Battle of Shejaya Saturday night and early Sunday.

A lone soldier from South Padre Island, Texas, Carmeli was born to a secular Israeli family which along with him, became more religious over the past several years.

Named for his grandfather on his mother's side, Carmeli, 21, was studying in a Jerusalem yeshiva before joining the IDF. He had been given the opportunity to avoid service in Gaza because of a foot injury, but insisted on going anyway.

Carmeli's two sisters live in Israel as well, but that is apparently the only family he has in Israel – so officials of Maccabi Haifa decided to step in and provide an “honor contingent” to accompany the fallen hero to his resting place.

In the call to fans, the soccer club said that “Carmeli was a lone soldier, and we don't want his funeral to be empty. Come to his funeral Monday night to pay respects to a man who died so that we could live. This is the least we can do for him and for our nation,” the message said.

Anti-Israel Backlash by Canadian Minister - Breaking Israel News

Sodastream Canada
The fact is very clear, anti-Israel/BDS activities are clear forms of anti-Semitism!
After Actress Scarlett Johansson stepped down as Oxfam's ambassador over her advertisement with Israeli company SodaStream, a company Oxfam boycotts, Canadian Employment Minister Jason Kenney said their move spurred him to buy from SodaStream. Appearing on Canadian Sun News last week, Kenney quipped "I've given money to Oxfam in the past because I thought they were there to help poor people, not to marginalize Israelis and make Palestinians unemployed." He added that "all the nutters at Oxfam" also marginalize "Palestinian people" who get paid four times more at SodaStream than they would within Palestinian Authority-controlled areas.
Kenney bashed the "anti-Israel obsession" with which leftist groups pursue Israel, even while they ignore countries like Iran which executes political dissidents and homosexuals. Remarking on Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's recent visit to Israel, Kenny remarked "we felt at home in Israel" due to the shared values of freedom and democracy between Israel and Canada.

Reconstruction of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem

This seven minute video is a great overview of the planning going on today for the reconstruction of the Holy Temple (HaBay'eet or The House in Hebrew) in Jerusalem.  As you can see, most of the furniture and accouterments of the Temple (the golden menorrah; the table of showbread, the arc of the covenant, the priestly garments, etc.) have already been completed.

What I find particularly fascinating is that both Jews and Christians have an increased sense that the coming of Mashiach (Messiah) is near.  I don't think this is a random coincidence.  The Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit) is speaking to His people, Jew and Gentile alike) that His appearing will be soon; or as the Jewish people say, "speedily, and in our day".

Shalom,

Israel: EU Attacks Us Because We're Small

Tuesday, Jul 16 '13, Av 9, 5773

Israel: EU Attacks Us Because We're Small
by Gil Ronen

Israeli officials on Tuesday slammed an EU directive that will bar all 28
member states from dealings with Jewish communities located beyond
the 1949 Armistice lines, including eastern Jerusalem.

A high-ranking official, who requested anonymity, described the
European Union's move as a disproportionate "attack" on Israel.

"When it comes to disputed territories, the Europeans prefer to attack
a small country like Israel instead of taking on more powerful states,
because they're afraid of retaliation."

Israel was "only informed of the directive at the last moment," he added.

The directive, due to be published on Friday and take effect from 2014,
forbids EU member states from funding or dealing with Israeli
communities in the Golan Heights, Judea, Samaria and eastern
Jerusalem, according to reports.

It requires a clear distinction to be made in all signed agreements,
between Israel and the territories it occupied in the 1967 Six Day War.

EU spokesman David Kriss told AFP: "These are guidelines on the
eligibility of Israeli entities and their activity in the territories occupied
by Israel since June 1967 for grants, prizes and financial instruments
funded by the EU from 2014 onwards.

"It makes a distinction between Israel and the entities in the
West Bank, east Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip and the
Golan Heights," he said.

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Ze'ev Elkin told army radio the
Europeans had made a "mistake" and that the directive would
undermine any return to peace talks with the Palestinians.

"It's a very worrying initiative launched at a bad time, because it
only reinforces the Palestinians' refusal to restart negotiations," he said.

Kriss said the EU wanted Israel to cooperate fully with the directive
to ensure its "participation in projects between 2014 and 2020."

But Elkin told the Haaretz newspaper: "We are not ready to sign on
this clause in our agreements with the European Union," but
admitted that the refusal could "halt all cooperation in economics...
(and) cause severe damage to Israel."

Palestinian leaders say they will only resume direct negotiations
with Israel if they are held on the basis of the lines that existed
before 1967, and if Israel freezes all settlement activity in Judea
and Samaria.

Israel insists they must be held "without preconditions."

Yesterday, Communications Minister Gilad Erdan accused the
Palestinian Authority for setting unreasonable preconditions to
talks, claiming they were seeking to start talks "from the finish line."

Professors: Stop calling Israel an occupier

Friday, June 14, 2013 |  Israel Today Staff
Professors participating in an international conference at Bar-Ilan University in Tel Aviv this week explained that international law that does necessarily support the claim that Israel is imposing a belligerent occupation on Judea and Samaria.
Under the title of "Israel and International Law," the conference brought together professors of law from around the world to discuss the issue of Israel's presence in and sovereignty over the so-called "West Bank."
Prof. Avi Bell of the University of San Diego explained to Arutz Sheva that it is "a mistake to think of this as a simple black and white matter of law. It's not. It's complicated."
Bell noted that "the way the law is generally discussed is as if it's all absolutely clear that Israel's case is insupportable," while in reality Israel has a very good legal case for continued sovereignty over these territories.
Prof. Jeremy A. Rabkin of George Mason University added that since the creation of the United Nations, "no other country in the world...has ever acknowledged that it is involved in an occupation." As such, this is a very flexible category without modern legal precedent, so it is unfair to create an international law that applies only to Israel.
Meanwhile, a poll conducted by Smith Research on behalf of the Knesset's Land of Israel Caucus found that 68 percent of Israelis oppose surrendering Judea and Samaria because doing so would pose a serious security threat to the Jewish state.
Prior to Israel's capture of Judea and Samaria during the Six Day War in 1967, Arab forces regularly used the strategic highlands to launch terrorist and military attacks on Israel's civilian population centers.

Sixty-five percent of Israelis believe the Jewish people do not face a second Holocaust, according to a new poll conducted by Dahaf on behalf of the Knesset Channel.

The poll shows Israelis’ optimism on the rise. A similar survey last year found that just 60% believed there would not be a second mass slaughter of the Jewish people.

Twenty-nine percent said in 2013 that they believe there is a danger of a second Holocaust, compared to 36% who believed that such a danger existed the year before.

However a different poll, conducted by Dr. Mina Tzemach, found most Israelis are concerned over potential threats, with 75% believing that a nuclear weapon in Iranian hands would pose an existential threat to Israel. Twenty-one percent said it would not.

A slim majority of Israelis – 52% - said they do not fear an existential threat from nuclear weapons in the hands of Pakistan or North Korea, while 42% said that those countries, too, could pose an existential threat.

The entire survey will be published Thursday by the Knesset Channel’s Shovrim Kelim program.
