"Alveda King: 'Happy Holidays' - How Do We Get There?"
Dr. Alveda King, Atlanta, GA

As the holidays are upon us, let us be mindful that these next few weeks are beautiful opportunities to express love, grace, encouragement and peace towards others.

There are some people, and in some cases someone we know, or even we ourselves, who are in dire need of a prayer or two this holiday season. Some have lost loved ones and some have lost much to tragedies. Yet there are reasons and opportunities to spread love to others right now. A notion such as this may seem difficult, especially with the brutal midterms behind us, and some political runoff elections ahead of us; but let's just try to be civil to one another.

The concept of civility springs from the word civilis, which in Latin means "citizen." Civility is impacted by a person's emotions or lack thereof. If a person is emotionally affected by the negative feedback that they get from other people and react in a psychologically normal manner, then they are defined as civil.

In my everyday circles at home with family, at church, at work and in the communities at large, I work hard to keep the commandment to "love one another." Another helpful process, which I learned from the "King Family Legacy Code of Nonviolence," is to communicate differences in a civil manner with the expectation of a "win-win" outcome.

Around Thanksgiving Season, I begin to half-jokingly say: "Don't be guilty of ripping the leg off the turkey" and "beating up others with it." I only say half-jokingly because so many families are divided these days. I know the Bible teaches that relatives will rise up to disagree with others, but does this have to happen in our families?

During the holiday season, there will be plenty of good food to go around. In addition to spending time with family and friends, ministry always joins in efforts to feed the hungry. Then, for the rest of the day, our family makes the rounds from house to house, delivering delicious dishes and good cheer.

All of this is good; but without Agape Love at the tables, something is missing. Along with genuine Agape Love, another addition to the meals and festivities should be a "spiritual fruit bowl."

Galatians 5:22-23 New International Version (NIV), "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."

Holidays should not be the only time we practice this behavior. We should always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks us to give the reason for the hope that we have. But we must do so with gentleness and respect.

Example: Rather than just using our lovely "Jesus is the Reason for The Season," theme, let's be ready with some genuine and transparent sayings that explain why we are thankful and why we are looking forward to Christmas. (Photo via Alveda King)

We need to interact with both Christians and non-Christians in a respectful way. Jesus did. In John 4, as Jesus talked to the Samaritan woman at the well, Jesus associated with someone who was far from acceptable in Jewish society, and while He fully told her the truth, He did so in a kind, compassionate, and redemptive manner. As apologists we too need to speak truth boldly in the public square, but we need to do so as Christ's representatives, bearing the fruit of His Spirit (Gal. 5:22–26). This means refraining from insults, name-calling, and excoriation, not only in theological discourse but also in political diatribes.

Actually, as Christians, we should not even be involved in political debates and any mean spirited activities; not at Thanksgiving, not at Christmas; not ever. We would be better served to be praying for all of our leaders, and also voting for government God's way. So, while we are baking the turkeys and wrapping the gifts and all of the beautiful activities ahead of us, let us pray.

"Past, Present and Future Mantles and the Great Phoenix of the Holy Spirit" - THE ELIJAH LIST Jeff Jansen

Jeff Jansen: "Past, Present and Future Mantles
and the Great Phoenix of the Holy Spirit"

Jul 20, 2017
Steve ShultzFrom the desk of Steve Shultz:
Saints, are you feeling ready for a Glory Revival? So many of you have been watching and praying to see a glorious outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Well...be encouraged as you read through this latest word by Jeff Jansen.
He shares about an encounter he had, as well as the interpretation of what he believes is coming for the Church as he shares:
Adam's rebellion toward God ended in spiritual death, resulting in separation from God. But now what was hidden deep in the spirit of man is being uncovered and rediscovered by a family of sons and daughters of God all around the world. All things have been put in subjection under the feet of Jesus Christ and we are part of His Body – so all things are under our feet.
Take some time to prayerfully consider this word and look with HOPE to the future for what's to come! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

Friends, I've been in an extended season of prayer and preparation for what I believe will be the release of the next level of outpouring and Glory Revival in our time. We are coming into a place in human history where all the deposits and cumulative anointings from past generations will be poured out upon a company of Believers who have been prepared through their process to carry it. For those who are hungry there is a fresh proficiency, revelation and power being offered that will mark individuals for a new era in Christendom, affecting generations to come.
Mantles in the Heavenly Locker Room
Several years ago I was taken to a room in the spirit that looked like a football locker room. In this room I saw mantles hanging from shaker pegs, and above the mantles were the names of great men and women of God, both in Scripture and recent days, who helped shape the course of history for breakthrough in their generation.
I saw names like Elijah, Jeremiah, Enoch, Isaiah, Charles Finney, William Branham, Smith Wigglesworth, Maria Woodworth-Etter, Katherine Kuhlman and others. The Lord was standing with me in this vision and said, "Jeff, choose one, I'll give it to you."
"It took the death of Jesus Christ, the One True Heavenly King, to restore us to our rightful place as kings and lords of the earth."
As I was pondering which mantle to choose I turned to the Lord and said, "I don't know which one to choose Lord, You choose for me." At a different time when I was recalling this encounter to Bob Jones he said, "Boy, that was the best answer you could have given the Lord. You let Him choose for you."
At that point I found myself with a mortar and pestle in my hand, and the Lord handed me three pills and said, "Grind them." As I was grinding the three pills the Lord said, "These three pills are the past, present and future mantles that are being offered to this generation."
The Lord was offering the cumulation of all past, present and future mantles to be poured out upon a glory generation that will be fully equipped to bring about the greatest revival and harvest the world has ever seen.
The Great Phoenix of the Holy Spirit
Recently I saw a great fire bird in the spirit flying over the city of Atlanta. The fire bird is commonly known as a Phoenix, and Atlanta is known as the "Phoenix of the South". I watched as I saw the whole city set ablaze as the Holy Spirit flew criss-cross over the city, releasing a fresh baptism of the Holy Spirit upon those who are gathering and contending for outpouring and revival.
I saw people coming out of wheel chairs, deaf were hearing, and the blind saw, along with many staggering signs and wonders as the fire bird released wave after wave of fresh Holy Ghost power. The Lord was showing me that Atlanta was a prototype of what will happen in many cities globally. Immediately I thought of the Seraphim in Isaiah 6:3 that cried, "...Holy, Holy, Holy...the whole earth is filled with His glory." (Photo via Wikimedia Commons)
"In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw [in a vision] the Lord sitting on a throne, high and exalted, with the train of His royal robe filling the [most holy part of the] temple. Above Him seraphim (heavenly beings) stood; each one had six wings: with two wings he covered his face, with two wings he covered his feet, and with two wings he flew. And one called out to another, saying, 'Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is filled with His glory.' And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, and the temple was filling with smoke." (Isaiah 6:1-4 AMP)
Seraphim are "burning ones" that fly above the throne and the Lord of glory. One of the functions of the Seraphim is "healing". One of God's names is Raphim(Jehovah Rapha) – which is "the God who heals" – so these burning ones that come out of the presence of the Lord are literally burning, healing angels.
This fiery Phoenix of the Spirit was being released over places of great hunger to release fresh miracles, healing, and signs and wonders to the sons of the Kingdom.
We can begin to see healing revival burn in the most unexpected places in this new season.
Kingdom Family Business
All of these prophetic encounters and promises are wonderful, but are pointing at something much greater. Yes it's for revival, yes it's for the harvest – but God has a much larger view in mind. We can describe the plan of God as simple. It is to extend the rule of His unseen Kingdom through a family of heirs – sons and daughters.
These offspring will act as God, on behalf of God, being His legal representatives and judiciaries on the planet, carrying out His orders and implementing the will of their Father and older heavenly Brother, Jesus Christ. From the dawn of time it has always been about family, about the Father and His children, and it will continue to be so until the end days. It's high time now for us to be about the Father's business. After the resurrection Jesus told Mary who was the first to see Him: "Go to My brothers and say to them, I'm ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God" (John 20:17 NKJV).
"For those who are hungry there is a fresh proficiency, revelation and power being offered that will mark individuals for a new era in Christendom, affecting generations to come."
We are the brothers and sisters of Jesus. His Father is our Father; His God is our God. Jesus is the firstborn among many brothers:
"For God knew His people in advance, and He chose them to become like His Son, so that His Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters."(Rom. 8:29 NLT)
Jesus is the prototype for all His brothers and sisters who find their way to the Father to share with Him as heirs of the coming Kingdom. Jesus was not ashamed to call us brothers because we are family with Him. "As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name" (John 1:12).
He gave those who believe in His name the right, ability, and privilege to become children of God.
A New Place in Human History
We are in a place and time in human history where we are starting to see the children of the Kingdom come into maturity. These seeds are coming of age and are beginning to bring about fruit that resemble the original Seed, Jesus Christ.
Through His children, God is establishing His Kingdom and purposes on the earth. He rules the seen world from the unseen world through our spirit, and is birthing His initiatives through us in the physical world. The fruitful journey of Jesus was well documented as He traveled about cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news, the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. He cured every sickness, disease, and infirmity that He encountered, further preparing the soil and sowing the precious seed (see Matt. 4:23; 9:35).
Everywhere He preached the Gospel, Jesus displayed His power with wild miracles, signs, and wonders. God expects His family to do the same thing – acting the same way as Jesus did. Because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" (Photo via Wikimedia Commons)
"Because you are His sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, 'Abba, Father.' So you are no longer a slave, but God's child; and since you are His child, God has made you also an heir." (Galatians 4:7).
The Lion of Judah is Roaring Again
Excerpt from "Furious Sound of Glory" by Jeff Jansen:
"It took the death of Jesus Christ, the One True Heavenly King, to restore us to our rightful place as kings and lords of the earth. It was for the joy that was set before Him that He endured the Cross, knowing that on the other side of the pain there would be you and I, the redeemed sons and daughters of the Heavenly King. His intention was that the one true Heavenly King (Jesus) would live through the many kings on the earth and establish His reign of authority through a family. So, in this final chapter of human history and on this side of eternity, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah is roaring again.
"The final chapter of these events will be so terrible, so incredible in the earth that even the elements will shudder with great shaking as angels and demons wage war in the heavenly realm. Intercession will focus on the arrival and coming forth of a Kingdom family who is filled with the sound of His roar. They will have power and authority to manifest the glory of God in the earth, breaking the curse over creation and releasing healing in the nations, causing them to flourish once again in the glorious freedom for which they were created. Some would say, 'Jeff this is too far-reaching, merely visions of grandeur!' In reality, these Scriptural truths are yet to be apprehended and walked out by a supernatural Church – the called out ones or the ecclesia. This company of Believers will reach far beyond the normative mind-sets of the day and demonstrate the miraculous in ways not seen in Church history. Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price in Blood through Calvary to open the heavens and restore to us the keys to the Kingdom. He will reap the reward of His suffering.
"Even now, the clash between Heaven and earth is mounting. Darkness has become increasingly dark and powerful as we draw near to the end and toward the Great Revival. The Church is under pressure and is being squeezed to produce the sweet wine of Heaven. There are great pressures in the earth and pressure in the heavens. Cosmic violence is beginning to spill out upon the earth. Heaven is not for the faint of heart but is a violent realm causing even the strongest to fear and tremble. This heavenly fury will be poured out in these last days upon an end-time army of God that has been prepared to carry it. And this army will unleash the Spirit of Revival in the nations of the earth. We must get ready for the unleashing of the furious sound of glory–the roar of power and love that transforms the earth." (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

Passion 2017: 55,000 Reasons to Believe in Millennials Again - CALEB PARKE CHARISMA NEWS

Passion 2017: 55,000 Reasons to Believe in Millennials Again

CALEB PARKE  CHARISMA NEWS
recent Pew Research Center survey found that only four in 10 millennials care about religion.
But I've got 55,000 reasons to believe they may be wrong.
Passion 2017, a Christian conference, kicked off with that many millennials packing out the Georgia Dome in Atlanta for one reason—to be the generation that says yes to the call of Jesus.
You won't see this story trending on Twitter or Facebook because these young adults were not looting or rioting in the streets, but they are making a difference.
They came from 90 countries and more than 1,600 colleges—and several of them happened to be my friends.
Dalton Glasscock, of Wichita, Kansas, told me "millennials are ready to carry forward the baton of faith."
He said the conference was an indicator of "revival" and "a mountaintop experience that should give hope to the millions of Christians across this country and world."
Passion began 20 years ago as a Bible study in Texas started by Louie and Shelley Giglio as a way to reach college students.
And to celebrate, they gave a few gifts to the 18-25 year-olds, including early copies of The Jesus Bible and a surprise visit from country singer Carrie Underwood.
Passion literally gave students an out-of-this-world perspective when NASA astronaut and former Passion attendee Shane Kimbrough addressed them from on board the International Space Station. He shared about reading the story of Jesus' birth from the station on Christmas day—the first time it's been done.
Louie and Shelley had an incredibly inspiring afternoon discussion with Katherine and Jay Wolf, the authors of Hope Heals. The book tells the story of Katherine's recovery from a stroke.
Their message was especially encouraging to my friend Megan DeGruy, who is battling cancer and other health issues.
"This year was the best because, I felt like I was able to relate on so many levels with dealing with pain and suffering, how to cherish it and use it for good, even when it hurts," said Megan.
"Everyone spoke about the cross, and how our pain relates to Christ, how to let God use it for his glory, even when we don't see the good in it!" she added.
Students also heard from Christian powerhouse preachers and speakers Christine Caine, Beth Moore, John Piper, Francis Chan and Levi Lusko.
And if the speakers weren't enough, the worship was powerful; led by Passion Band, Chris Tomlin, Christy Nockels, Crowder, Matt Redman, Jimi Cravity and Hillsong United.
Seeing a stadium of millennials singing their hearts out and lifting their hands in worship wasn't all, though.
As a Passion veteran, my friend Shaina Morrow, a student ministry director from Curtis Lake Church in Sanford, Maine, went for the first time as a leader —no longer a student.
"Regardless of fashion trends, social media, politics, speakers and music genres, Passion will always be focused on Jesus," adding that "Passion rallies around a cause every year."
Passion partnered with Compassion International, a Christian humanitarian aid child-sponsorship organization dedicated to the long-term development of children living in poverty around the world, in an initiative called "Make History Together."
Sure enough, they made history. The students sponsored every child on the waiting list in the countries of Rwanda, El Salvador, Indonesia and Tanzania. Just to give you an idea of how many little ones that is, in Rwanda alone, there were 2,013 children. They also sponsored some of the children in Bolivia.
How incredible is that? Passion played a video of children on the waiting list in Rwanda getting the news of their sponsorship. The joy on their faces was priceless.
"My husband and I committed to sponsoring a little girl named Agnes who lives in Tanzania, and it already has made an impact on our lives—knowing we are giving her a better future. Millennials are cause-driven, and when you combine a focus on Jesus and a chance to be a part of something bigger than themselves, this generation responds," Shaina said.
A stadium full of millennials just gave poor children all across the world food and clean water, medical care, education, life-skills training and spiritual guidance. An act Dalton says can only be explained by the power of the gospel.
"Personally, I am always blown away by the way each communicator has an incredible love and knowledge of scripture," Shaina said. "It has challenged me to commit to knowing Jesus and Scripture more. As Ben Stuart said in our group, 'we exist to know God and make Him known.' That was the biggest challenge that I will take away from Passion 2017."
So, in the heart of Atlanta, thousands of young people stormed out of a stadium, not to loot or riot in the streets, but to bring the light of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to their campuses, their communities, and to our world.
As one of the speakers, Christine Caine, put it on her insta-story: "Millennials love Jesus," and I've got 55,000 reasons to prove it.
3 Reasons Why you should read Life in the Spirit. 1) Get to know the Holy Spirit. 2) Learn to enter God's presence 3) Hear God's voice clearly! Go deeper!

Franklin Graham Takes a Bold Stand Against NFL's Christian Persecution - BOB ESCHLIMAN CHARISMA NEWS

Nathan Deal

Franklin Graham Takes a Bold Stand Against NFL's Christian Persecution

Evangelist Franklin Graham has asked his followers to pray for Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal, who is weighing whether or not to sign into law a religious freedom protection bill in the wake of widespread outrage from LGBT activists and corporate interests. (Reuters photo)
As Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal continues to contemplate whether or not to sign a bill to protect religious freedoms in his state, a number of corporate interests have weighed in.
But now, in an official statement, evangelist Franklin Graham has weighed in on the issue, as well. He shared his comments on social media after learning of the threats issued by the National Football League to remove Atlanta from consideration for a future Super Bowl date.
"Atlanta is a great location for the Super Bowl, but the NFL has come out against Georgia's religious exemptions bill, threatening that it could impact Atlanta's consideration in the Super Bowl selection process for 2019 and 2020," he said. "LGBT forces and corporate super powers are using this threat to try to stop the bill that would protect pastors from performing same-sex marriages and give faith-based organizations permission to deny use of their facilities for things outside their religious beliefs."
House Bill 757, also known as the Religious Freedom Protection Act and the Pastor Protection Act, would protect pastors, faith-based organizations and business owners with sincerely held religious beliefs from being forced to violate their conscience. The bill has passed the Georgia House of Representatives and Senate, and is supported by a number of conservative and faith leaders.
In response, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said through a spokesman, "NFL policies emphasize tolerance and inclusiveness, and prohibit discrimination based on age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or any other improper standard. Whether the laws and regulations of a state and local community are consistent with these policies would be one of many factors NFL owners may use to evaluate potential Super Bowl host sites."
Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank has been eager to get the Super Bowl back in his home city for years. And because of the NFL's reaction, he has also joined the chorus of corporate interests opposed to the legislation.
"I strongly believe a diverse, inclusive and welcoming Georgia is critical to our citizens and the millions of visitors coming to enjoy all that our great state has to offer," he has said. "House Bill 757 undermines these principles and would have long-lasting negative impact on our state and the people of Georgia."
Other corporate interests that have weighed in against the legislation include the Walt Disney Company, which frequently films on location in the state, and the Coca-Cola Company, which is headquartered in Atlanta. Dozens of other corporations have also attacked the legislation, saying it promotes discrimination.
Graham, however, disagrees with those assessments:
"It does not legalize discrimination as opponents are trying to say, rather it helps contain the growing discrimination against Christians who simply want to live out their faith. The bill has already passed both houses of the Georgia legislature and has the support of Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle."
Deal has said he will make his decision in the next few weeks. In the meantime, Graham is urging his followers to join him in taking a bold stand for religious freedom.
"Let's pray that Gov. Deal will protect the religious freedoms of Georgians," he said. "Write him and let him know how you feel about this—stand up against this NFL blitz!"

DECISION AMERICA TOUR 2016 with Franklin Graham

Decision America Tour
“America is too young to die.”

Dear Friend,

My father, Billy Graham, turns 97 this week on November 7. He still has a tremendous burden for the lost and faithfully prays for our nation. He is deeply concerned about the direction of our nation, and I can’t think of a better encouragement on his birthday than knowing that many others are also devoting themselves to fervent prayer and bold action for America.

Nearly 40 years ago, my father said something that is even more pressing today. “Will America turn to God at this late hour, or will America continue on the broad road that leads to destruction? … There is no possible solution to the problems we face apart from a change in the spiritual atmosphere.” He continued with chilling words: “America is too young to die.”

My father then urged Christians to pray for America, to get involved in the political process, and to help shape the kind of country we’d all want for our children and grandchildren. That’s exactly what I’m going to do on Decision America Tour in 2016—to travel to each of the 50 states to proclaim the Gospel and call the church to follow God’s Word in repenting of our sins and seeking Him. I will challenge Christians to take a stand, to get off the sidelines, and to get involved in the political process at all levels.

Today we’re announcing three more stops on the tour: Columbia, South Carolina, February 9; Atlanta, Georgia, February 10; and Honolulu, Hawaii, February 24. I’m also asking you to join your state’s prayer team and to sign the Decision America pledge. Will you act today—and will you invite everyone you know to join me in your state capital in 2016?

America is too young to die. God, revive our nation!

Sincerely,

Franklin Graham

"Wave of Healing Hitting the East and West Coast" - Brian Britton

"Wave of Healing Hitting the East and West Coast"
Brian Britton, Williamsburg, VA
The Elijah List

As we are in a time of great acceleration, I sense an urgent call on this word for the Body of Christ to engage with Heaven, to pray and move in Him, to see this come to pass. These are great days of revival, open heavens and Kingdom advancement. As things seem to be getting darker, His great light is shining brighter!

Acts 4:29-30 "...and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy servant Jesus."
Over the last 13 years, while ministering as a missionary revivalist in the nations and leading revival churches here in the States, I have been blessed to see God heal thousands of people and draw many unto Himself as the Good News of Jesus is preached. At times in Africa and Asia, we have seen God heal over 1000 people in a single meeting. But gone are the days where these reports only come from the mission field.

In the last 8 years here at home, we have seen many miracles in our churches in Virginia and in other places as we have seen on the foreign mission field. From people being healed of everything from cancer to headaches and more, we have been blessed to see God move in this generation like never before! I say all this to glorify God, but also to say that recently I have been overwhelmed by the great truth that God is about to do even more than we can imagine for His glory.

A Wave of Healing From Coast to Coast

Recently, while ministering in Switzerland, I had a powerful vision of a move of God intensifying on the East Coast of the United States of America. In the vision I saw a huge wave hitting the coast, and instead of diminishing when it hit, it began to slowly swell and grow in size. It was made clear to me that this was a wave of healing that will be a catalyst for revival and outpouring in the land. I saw key areas along the coast being impacted first, but over time all of the East Coast was engulfed by the wave. (Photo via Wikimedia)

The states that were highlighted to me were Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida. In some of these I saw specific cities and even people I knew who were a part. For instance not mentioned above was New York but I specifically saw New York City being key, especially Long Island and Manhattan. Other cities of note were Boston, Harrisburg, Richmond, Raleigh, and Atlanta.

This wave will surpass previous moves of healing in the country, as it is not being carried out by one or even several men and women, but literally thousands of sons and daughters of the King. I saw people gathering in homes and in arenas to celebrate and witness the power of the Gospel and many were swept into the Kingdom as a result.

As I mentioned previously, instead of the wave diminishing when it hit the coast, it actually began to slowly swell and rise up over the land. At about this time I noticed a great wave already approaching from the West Coast as well, and California, Oregon and Washington were similarly engulfed. Both of these waves seemed to be moving towards each other and meeting over the center of our nation where I saw cities like Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, Tulsa, Austin and Dallas being washed in the great tide of glory.

I felt I was being shown this to agree with the Holy Spirit and others for this to come to pass and also to encourage this generation of sons and daughters to step out with boldness and proclaim the truth of the Good News, expecting signs and wonders to follow. Freedom, healing and life will follow in the wake of the children of the King in this great hour. (Photo via Pixabay)

So this is a call to action for all who read this article: Awaken, Arise, Pray and Go in boldness believing that as you do, the Lord will surely stretch forth His hand to heal, and that signs and wonders will be done through the name of Jesus.

Over 20,000 students attend Passion 2014 Conference in Atlanta on Friday, January 17, 2014. This is the first of Passion’s two large-scale gatherings this year in North America for 18-25 year olds.

The Passion 2014 Atlanta Conference kicked off at Philips Arena in Atlanta Friday with over 20,000 university students attending the two-day event from around the world.

Students from over 1,200 universities and 33 countries attended this year's Passion conference in Atlanta. This is the first of Passion's two large-scale gatherings this year in North America for 18-25 year olds. Passion 2014 Houston will be held on February 14-15 at the Toyota Center.

Passion 2014 brings together several internationally renowned pastors, teachers and worship leaders. Joining Passion founders Louie and Shelley Giglio in Atlanta will be John Piper, Christine Caine, and Francis Chan. Grammy award winning artists and worship leaders Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman, are slated to lead worship, along with David Crowder, Kristian Stanfill, Christy Nockels and Hillsong United.

Even with so many well-known speakers and musicians participating, organizers insist that Passion is more than simply a conference or an event. Rather, it is a call for "saying goodbye to lesser things and saying yes to the One whose name is above every name," a theme that is stated on the Passion website and often echoed by the speakers.

Louie Giglio, founder of the Passion movement and pastor of Passion City Church in Atlanta, speaks on day one of the two-day Passion Conference in Atlanta on Friday, January 17, 2014.

"Passion is about the Jesus Generation uniting for His fame," said Louie Giglio, founder of the Passion movement and pastor of Passion City Church in Atlanta. "At the heart of it all, Passion exists to see a generation stake their lives on what matters most. For us, that is the fame of the One who rescues and restores, and the privilege we have to fully leverage our lives by amplifying His name in everything we do."

Passion's core scripture, Isaiah 26:8, states: "Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts."

Passion Conferences has been uniting college students around the world for the past 16 years, hosting 48 events in 16 countries. Since the first Passion Conference was held in 1997 in Austin, Texas, with 2,000 people, the movement has grown exponentially and hosted millions of university students at large-scale gatherings across the U.S. and around the world through nine conferences, four world tours and multiple one-day and regional events.

In 2008, the organization embarked on their first Passion World Tour traveling to 17 cities worldwide on six continents, kicking off in Kiev and ending in Sydney. The most recent world tour in 2012 consisted of five cities: Vancouver, Pretoria, Kampala, Durban, and Cape Town. In 2014, Passion will tour internationally and hold gatherings in Dubai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Singapore, Manila, and Honolulu between March 20 and April 1.

Last January's gathering, Passion 2013, was its largest to date drawing over 60,000 university students and leaders from 50 states and 56 countries to the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia. The Passion 2013 conference garnered national attention as attendees gave over $3 million to help fund the freedom fight for the estimated 27 million human slaves currently in captivity.

The gathering served as a pivotal point in the "End It Movement," which aimed to "Shine a Light on Slavery" by raising awareness of human trafficking, forced labor, and child labor, and supporting initiatives and organizations working to rescue and restore those enslaved around the world.

"We believe that worship and justice are two sides of the same coin," said Bryson Vogeltanz, pastor of Global Engagement at Passion City Church. "When Jesus followers gather together, there should be a tangible response. Together, we are a force for good."

All Passion 2014 attendees in Atlanta were urged to bring towels and socks to donate, which will be collected throughout the conference and given to Atlanta-area homeless shelters.
