Rejection to Resurrection - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Rejection to Resurrection
Steve Martin

“This Yeshua is the stone rejected by you builders which has become the cornerstone. There is salvation in no one else! For there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by whom we must be saved!” (Acts 4:11-12, Complete Jewish Bible)

A highly respected and noted Bible teacher in the 1970s and beyond, Bob Mumford of North Carolina, had a unique way of presenting truth as he spoke. He would get the gathered believers laughing about an incident or story he would tell, and then, “Bam!”, the truth would hit you, figuratively, in your smiling teeth, with your mouth wide open, when the last sentence of truth proclaimed came forth. When the reality of the situation he was telling became shockingly clear, suddenly exploding in your heart’s understanding, it was like you just got hit in the mind with clarity. You never saw it coming, but when it did, the presented truth immediately enlightened your head and heart. It was, “Yes, that is it. I never saw it before. How could I have missed that? Wow!”

Bob Mumford
Bob went on to say that so very often, when we hear the Word of the Lord come to us the first time, as a word of instruction and direction, that which is given as the answer to our prayer and supplication, our immediate human response is so often, “No, I cannot. I will not. I must not.” We reject that very thing which would save us. Only later, when we find out that that very truth is spoken, the one we so easily cast aside as ridiculous or impossible at first, would be the exact one that was sent to us, to bring us from rejection to resurrection. Only then do we receive it and rise, being resurrected ourselves with it.

But as happens far too often, we at first dismiss it. We at first toss it aside. We let it be buried in the ground.

As happened with Jesus Himself, that which was rejected and buried later became that which was the very cornerstone that was needed. Salvation has come. We need only to receive Him, day in and day out, to get out from under that which had been dead and buried.

And so it was when Yeshua came the first time. The very one that could save each from all that held us in bondage was the very one rejected. Only after His resurrection did the understanding come, to fully realize He was Who He said He was. The Truth once rejected was the Truth resurrected.

How often have you and I been presented the truth of reality, the “way it is, because that is the way it is?” When we first hear what can save us, what will give us the answer to that which we have prayed for, we dismiss it. Only after the Holy Spirit continues to open our closed eyes and our closed heart do we finally realize that, yes, that is what I need, this is what I have been looking for, this is what my spirit has been longing for, for so long.

That very thing we rejected, in the beginning, is the very one thing that will bring resurrection to the dead reality we had brought on ourselves.

The builders rejected the cornerstone. So had we.

We have been given the opportunity to hear the Lord speak to us in our daily walk, directing our steps, and moving us onward in resurrected power and anointing. We must take heed to not reject that which He sends our way, but to trust in His guidance and provision. The walk of faith is a daily movement away from rejecting His Word to us and receiving His resurrection power to carry it out.

The world is waiting for believers to demonstrate the living resurrection power that has been given to us. They too will reject it at first, but when the Holy Spirit opens their eyes to the eternal truth, they will join the saved ranks and likewise be witnesses of His resurrection too.

Let the rejection in your life become His resurrection in your life. Accept the truth He brings, for He alone has the power to raise you up and get you to where He is ultimately wanting to take you.

Now think on this.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

His Word. For All Eternity. Now Think On This by Steve Martin

His Word. For All Eternity.
Now Think On This
by Steve Martin

“Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.” (Psalm 119:89 NKJV)

Hopelessness abounds in our society. We have tried to fill our lives with stuff that has brought little fulfillment in our soul, let alone our spirit within. After longing for “that something” we know is out there, after we have grasped for what we think it is, there remains nothing that sustains us. It is like a breeze passing through the trees – here one moment and gone the next.

While the Bible may be continually scoffed at in our public arenas, governmental realms, and most certainly in our educational systems, it has stood strong through the centuries, protected by the Lord God Himself. Since Moses (Hebrew name Moshe) and the prophets recorded the words spoken to them by Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity, these living words have been passed on through all generations. Nothing has, or ever shall destroy these foundational, eternal truths, found in the Torah, the Holy Bible, the recorded Scriptures.

God has kept His eternal Word safe and truly sound throughout the ages.

Many dismiss the Written Word as nothing more than another book, calling it only a collection of fairy tales, make believe stories, or simple sayings. And yet in this eternal volume of inspired words are recorded historical facts, hundreds of prophecies accurately fulfilled, and testimonies of lives changed. It is a proven fact. The Bible alone is God’s Word, and the gates of hell will never have the final say or the ability to destroy it. God has promised to keep His Word. Nothing and no one will ever be able to stand against it and live.

As a Bible teacher named Bob Mumford once said, “Read the back of the book. God wins.”

The Bible gives us the only foundation that will never be shaken or taken away. All else in life may fall, people will come and go, but the one who puts their trust in God’s Word will never be disappointed. Having myself believed on His word since I was a first grader in a small Iowa town named Gilbertville, His truth, encouragement and protection have kept me these many years. Learning the discipline of memorizing and keeping in my heart and head God’s Word, the Bible has certainly been my strong foundation. Where would I be without it? I do not want to go there.

In 1994 a Christian contemporary band called 4Him released their fifth album, called The Ride. Included in the ten songs list was one called Real Thing. One line that stuck with me, as I would put the song on “repeat” in my CD player, was “Jesus is the real thing.” While Coca-Cola would flood the airwaves with advertising on TV and radio during that same time period, singing what it claimed to be, this song brought me and others back to reality - that JESUS was the real thing.

“And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14, NASU)

The very Word of God, Jesus incarnate, the Messiah that the world had been looking for, became flesh and dwelt among us. He came to show that He alone is the real thing, the Person we are looking for in our lives.

Yeshua came to His own, the Jewish nation, and yet but a few missed Him that first time. He didn’t come as the King of the Jews that they were expecting or hoping for, to take out the Roman Empire and restore Israel to its former glory as under King David. He came as a lamb, to be the Passover sacrifice.

The Word of God became a human, to pay the price needed to be acceptable to God the Father, in order to wipe away the sins of the world. Only a perfect Lamb, without spot or blemish, could be that one. Jesus was. And is. And always shall be.

Jesus is the real thing. He is the only One who can give hope, heal wounds, and give freely the salvation found only in Him. He alone is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He alone can restore that which the enemy of our soul has killed, stolen and destroyed.

The King of kings and the Lord of lords is His Name. Yeshua HaMashiach, Jesus Christ, the Hope of the World, revealed to us through the Bible.

I like how The Message version of the Bible puts these words in Psalm 119:89-94:

“What you say goes, God,
and stays, as permanent as the heavens.
Your truth never goes out of fashion;
it's as up-to-date as the earth when the sun comes up.

Your Word and truth are dependable as ever;
that's what you ordered — you set the earth going.
If your revelation hadn't delighted me so,
I would have given up when the hard times came.
But I'll never forget the advice you gave me;
you saved my life with those wise words.

Save me! I'm all yours.
I look high and low for your words of wisdom.”

I encourage you to read His Word daily. Memorize His thoughts. Hide them in your heart and speak them often. Continually stand on His Word, making it your firm foundation. In the end His Words will be the only ones that you will be able to count on.

He is the only True Hope of the nations, the Word of God.

Now think on this,

Real Thing Lyrics
"Real Thing" was written by Clark, Dave / Koch, Don / Harris, Mark / Clark, Dave.

I can dream about heaven constantly
Both day and night
I can let my mind drift away to a better place
A better time

Though there's nothing wrong with thinking about
Forever by and by
All the while millions are still searching for a light

Maybe it is time we take a look
At here and now
Maybe we can change the destiny
Of a world that's crying out

For the truth we take for granted
Is too often left unsaid
We can get so heaven minded
That sometimes we forget

That we're living in a real world
With real hurt and real pain
And all we really need is the real thing

When we look beyond our circumstance
And face reality
We'll realize that all we really need
Is just to see
Jesus in a real world

There are days when I look around
And I feel like hope is gone
There are times my heart is torn between
Who is right and what is wrong

There are causes I believe in
There are things I'll never change
But I'm finding all that matters
Is there's just one truth
One truth that remains

Cause we're living we're living in a real world
With real hurt and real pain
And all we really need is the real thing
When we look beyond our circumstance
And face reality
We'll realize that all we really need
Is just to see
Jesus in a real world

Guidance - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Guidance
- Now Think On This
by Steve Martin

“Your ears will hear a word behind you, "This is the way, walk in it," whenever you turn to the right or to the left.” Isaiah 3-:21 NASU

We all need guidance in our life. The Lord promises to give it to us, if we ask Him.

While some would choose to just keep walking in the way that seems right to them, the Lord says that if we seek Him, He will show us the right way. Whether that would be a decision we need to make in marriage, buying a home, making a job change, or knowing what to do with one we ourselves are giving care to, the Lord has promised that He has the answer if we but ask. We can receive wisdom from the Lord.

“But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” James 1:5-8 NASU

Over the many years I have walked with the Lord, there are several ways He has given me to help in my decision making, and to know if the answer is His will or not. I would like to share them with you, as you seek Him for guidance.

1.      Daily reading of God’s Word will bring guidance. There are many directives in His Word that we can already know what His will is, as they have been given as our daily life’s road map. With these already written down for us in His Word, He has already spoken what is truth. We can base our decisions on those standards, and not the world’s ways. At other times the Holy Spirit will have a verse or two “jump out at you” while reading, quickening your spirit, to give you an answer to your question.

2.      If the Lord has already blessed you with a mate (a wife in my situation), ask them to pray along with you concerning the situation. Discernment given to them can be an affirmation to what the Lord would speak to you. A pastor or close friend can also pray and ask the Lord for a word for you, as long as you don’t trust solely in them, but the Holy Spirit’s word. There is wisdom in the counsel of many.

3.      A prophetic word has often been an encouragement to me when received. Given by one who has the gift of prophecy has been very helpful, as the Lord will use them to bring enlightenment. If you know someone who has the gift of prophecy, ask them to seek the Lord on your behalf. Be mindful that you will always need discernment in receiving any word given by another, so as not to just go by what another would say. A word received is just another piece of the puzzle to consider.

4.      Circumstances do play a role in discerning the will of the Lord. Something may happen that seems to come “out of the blue”, or “it just happens”. Consider that the Lord is using that circumstance to bring further guidance. At times circumstances can also occur that will keep you from going a certain way. The Lord is known to use those in directing your path.

5.      The Holy Spirit can speak a word to you quietly in your thoughts. That sense of “Where did that come from?” thought may very well be the Holy Spirit nudging you, sharing with you a message in regards to the situation. It may just be a simple word, but that word can very well be just what you need. He may also use a dream or vision to guide you. Don’t dismiss those thoughts, but ponder them for further confirmation. Write them down so you don’t forget them. The fulfillment of that dream or other supernatural method of bringing you a directive may occur later,

6.      The timing of the Lord is vital to making the right decision. He is not in a hurry to just lay out His will for you, giving you all the steps at once. He delights when you take the proper time to seek Him. Often He will give you one step at a time. If He delays in giving you an answer (or what we many times deem as a delay), know that it is because He is lining up other situations that may have to come about before your time is now.

7.      Once you believe you have received the answer, have confidence in Him and make the move. Carry out what He has told you in obedience. Faith is always necessary when walking in the right way. Do not let the enemy bring doubt or try to make you second guess what you believe is right. The peace of the Lord should be with and in your spirit.

Though the enemy may try to bring confusion and double-mindedness along the way, the peace of the Lord will be present if you have made the right decision. As one teacher would say, “You know in your knower” that the decision you made is the one from the Lord. Carrying out that decision may take you on a rough road, but it will be the right road to take. There are many examples of taking the right road, even when the journey will not be so pleasant. Jesus’ crucifixion is a prime example.

Many good books have been written by trusted authors/teachers on how to seek the Lord’s guidance. One of the best ones I ever read, simple but very instructive, was by Bible teacher Bob Mumford in the 1970’s It is called “Take Another Look At Guidance.” The 20th year edition was printed again by Lifechangers in 1993, and can be found on Amazon.com.

Another highly recommended Bible teacher is Derek Prince, who has several spoken and written words on guidance. His material can be found at www.derekprince.com, or www.derekprince.org.

I myself have published two books that are helpful in learning to walk in the Lord’s guidance. One is entitled The Promise – One Man’s Journey To See God’s Word Revealed. I share my life’s journey and how the Lord led me. It can be purchased at Amazon.com. Look here.

Another one is Prophetic Stories: Signs Along The Way. I share several chapters on how the Lord gave me words and dreams that gave guidance to myself and others. Look here.

The Lord Jesus does not want us to just let “whatever will be will be” for us. He wants to continually have His Holy Spirit give us instruction on how to walk in the way, and which way that is. Whether in making a life changing decision or one that seems too little to bother Him with, He has given us the Holy Spirit as our Comforter. He is always there for us. (John 14:26)

It is a journey of faith as we walk with the Lord. We must continually seek the Lord for His will and way, trusting that our times are in His hands, and that He wants the best for us and those we live amongst. As you learn to seek Him in all your ways, He will bless you with goodness.

Can This Be True? 2 Million Indonesian Muslims Find Jesus Per Year

Can This Be True? 2 Million Indonesian Muslims Find Jesus Per Year

This video is causing quite a stir among the Muslim population in Indonesia.
This video is causing quite a stir among the Muslim population in Indonesia. (YouTube)
Amid all the news about Islam's gains around the world, here is some startling news you've probably never heard: In Indonesia—the most populous Muslim nation—2 million Muslims are converting to Christianity per year. That's right. That's one new convert every 15 seconds. At this rate, Indonesia will be mostly Christian by 2035.
Some Muslims are so alarmed they've created a video on YouTube to alert other Muslims to this menace and are trying to raise $2 million to start a TV station aimed at Muslim youth to keep them in Islam.
Called "Save Maryam," it depicts a young teen named Maryam who represents all disillusioned Muslim youth that have responded to invitations to gospel events or someone handing them a tract that says "Jesus Loves You." Watch the 4-minute, 45-second video yourself if you don't believe me. It's from Muslims in their own words, alarmed at the rate of conversions to Christianity.
It ends by urging Muslims to stop this trend (thereby "Saving Maryam") by alerting other Muslims to the threat by forwarding the video on social media.
There also are YouTube videos debunking this, using government statistics showing growth of Christianity in Indonesia at a slower pace. Also, the videos cast aspersions on the fundraising tactics of the sponsoring organization and to their motives. However, the Islamic government has incentive to under report the size of the Christian population.
Recently, I talked to an Indonesian pastor visiting the United States that confirmed to me that the Indonesian church is growing despite persecution like churches being burned down and some Christians being killed.
"The Muslim has no answer for their life and they are very depressed because life's so difficult," he told me. "Their religion has no answer. Many of these people are so lonely that they will watch a Christian program and a Christian will follow up (with) them and bring them into the Christian community and disciple them."
In this Easter season, as we remember Christ's death on the cross and His resurrection, it's good to be reminded that the message of the gospel is real and it's changing lives—even in the most populous Muslim nation.
So, let's get this word out. The Muslims want this to be shared to alert people that many Indonesian Muslims are becoming Christians. Share this on social media—not to lament this news, but for Christians to rejoice.
God is still on the throne and is drawing all men to Himself (see John 12:32). It's like I heard Bob Mumford say one time: "I've read the end of the book, and Jesus wins!"

I Can Relate - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

I Can Relate
- Now Think On This
by Steve Martin

I don’t understand my own behavior — I don’t do what I want to do; instead, I do the very thing I hate!” Romans 7:15 Complete Jewish Bible

I certainly can relate to Paul at times. When I think I have mastered something in my spiritual walk, then, boom, I react the same way as before. And here I had thought I had checked that one off the “Got It Mastered” list.

Someone at work gets a big pat on the back during the company staff meeting. My response at times? “Well, what about that great job I did last week?” Instead of being congratulatory for them, I am asking myself, “Why didn’t I get acknowledged?”

Or the emotion that arises when driving down the highway and a young kid races by, obviously going beyond the suggested speed limit. My response has been, “I hope he gets caught. I want to get to my destination just as fast. But no one is catching him now are they?"

At other moments I find myself having high expectations, believing that a person is thinking the same way I am, and then finding out later that that wasn’t even on their mind at all. And then the big disappointment sets in, as I fall to the ground with the thought, “Another hope dashed.” At least it doesn’t take me days to get over it like it used to. Now it is down to a few hours. (At least most of the time.)

Paul got it right when he said, using the same verse as above, but as translated in the New American Standard Version, “For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.”

Weariness sets in when you think you have overcome a sinful act, and yet when the opportunity arises to show that what you had desired to be the true colors by now - well, it just isn’t quite yet, but the same old same old had just come back. Why is this so?

We need to continue to practice repentance; to keep looking to the Lord to help us overcome those things that just seem to hang on and not go away. Attitudes, behaviors, wrong directions we tend to take, in our natural and spiritual walks, that we thought we had dealt with already, are going to take more practice. Our dependence on the Lord should never go away, where we think we have accomplished “it” and can walk on our own. Sure, we are to be mature. It will certainly come as our acknowledgement of Him is kept forefront in our minds, wills and emotions.

David is another person given in Scripture as an example for us to imitate. I can certainly relate to David, as He called upon the Name of the Lord. As a shepherd, and then as king of Israel, his dependence on the Lord is evident in his words I believe he continually prayed, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14 NAS) He knew that only in His Lord would he be able to maintain a proper attitude towards people and situations that came his way.

Paul encourages us with his inspired words, giving us further hope that what we experience isn’t just us going through it, but that our fellow ones also struggle with this. “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13 NAS)

Bob Mumford, a popular Bible teacher whom I enjoyed hearing and reading his books in the 1970’s and 1980’s, liked to share experiences about how we get caught up “going around the mountain” – getting in that mode where we just can’t seem to conquer, or finish the test, but have to keep repeating it over and over again. But someday we do! Someday we will have gotten that last mountain test passed, and be promoted to the next grade, with bigger challenges.

My hope is that as I continually give myself to desiring the Lord’s cross in my life, allowing it to work the eternal effect it is to have in my heart and spirit, that the things I hate to do, will in time no longer have its hold on me.

I know you desire that too. Aren’t you glad we are not alone, that along with the Holy Spirit we will be overcomers. That is my hope. I know that He Who is Faithful and True also desires that for us too.

“Your Assignment” - Ahava Love Letter (Steve Martin)

          “Your Assignment”

“and the young man did not put off doing what was asked of him, even though he was the most respected member of his father’s family, because he so much wanted Ya‘akov’ s daughter.” Genesis 34:19
(CJB – Complete Jewish Bible)

Dear family of friends,

Lance Wallnau has a unique way of sharing truth in a way that makes sense. When he speaks, I listen. Others do too.

He reminds me of how Bob Mumford taught God’s Word in the 1970’s and onward, for those who know Bob and experienced his words coming at you. Both he and Lance have such practical ways of delivery that I have come to really appreciate. If you haven’t caught my recommendation already of these two, I do encourage you to!

In a message I heard at a KBA gathering (Kingdom Business Association) at the MorningStar/Heritage International Ministries location in 2013, Lance spoke on our assignments as individuals. As I listened again to his heart stirring message, on the CD driving into uptown Charlotte to my accounting job, a crisp fall Monday morning at 6:15 am, the Lord continued to give clarity to my new assignment. His ongoing encouragement caused me to share this Ahava Love Letter with you.

Do you know your assignment?

Each one of us has been given a purpose, a plan, a gifting which fits together with the Lord’s purposes and plans of those He connects us with. Your “talents” and skills acquired, which are unique in the fact that there is no one else exactly like you, are given to fulfill His perfect plan in the nations.

Do you know what they are? Have you asked Him lately?

Over a period of two decades (literally – no “evangelistically” speaking here) I have received many prophetic words about what the Lord has called me to do. For about 30 of those years I literally denied it, thinking “That is not me.” My job and training had put me in one sector of the business/ministry realm, which I was at least somewhat comfortable in. (In case you are wondering, I was the Director/Administrator of three international ministries for a period of 24 years total. Administration, finances and conferences were my thing.) The prophetic words which I actually despised hearing always told me, “You are a teacher.”

In my denial of not being that, for I wasn’t a real student of the Bible, hadn’t memorized Scripture chapters over my growing years, let alone a lot of single verses, my brain thoughts convinced me that the job I was doing was it for the rest of my life. Even if I was not satisfied and fully fulfilled in doing that.

When I finally “Got it” in the heart, the teaching aspect of my calling, my assignment, started to blossom. I didn’t have to be the “Derek Prince” or the “A.W.Tozer”, or even a “Charles Spurgeon” in my lifetime. I could be me, just as the Father of All created me to be. And so my teaching gift is mostly that of sharing life’s experiences, and encouraging you to do the same in your gifting.

Our assignment here on this planet is simple. Do what the Father has put in your heart to do. You don’t have to be the rocket scientist if you are the graphic artist. Be the graphic artist you have been born to do to your fullest! Give it all you got, and learn more in the giving! Many will be blessed in your fruitful contribution to the Body of Christ, along with the nations who long to see His Creative working in their own lives.

If you are not sure yet of your assignment, your calling, your purpose, don’t be discouraged. The Lord has so much love for you that as you seek Him, He will reveal it to you. Walk in that which you know to do already. Be obedient in hearing His voice - in your prayer time, as you do your daily job, as you sleep at night and He speaks to you in dreams. Be encouraged that He wants to show you far more than we even think or know. He is the Faithful One. His fullness of faith will become yours.

Believe me, denial in your walk may last a while, but if your heart is to follow after the Lord Jesus with all your heart, His plan and purposes will be revealed to you.

And all of us will be on the receiving end of you walking in your assignment! Thanks!

Ahava to my family of friends,

Steve Martin
