Dutch Christians Help Troubled Israeli Youth

Dutch Christians Help Troubled Israeli Youth

The pro-Israel Dutch organization Christians for Israel this week presented a state-of-the-art mobile sales van for use by at-risk adolescent girls enrolled in the Eden Association rehabilitation program.
The van will be the centerpiece of a new project called “Vafelina” - a play on the Hebrew form of the word “waffle” - in which girls involved in the program learn to run a self-sustaining business.
The van will operate within Eden Residential Treatment Center at Kibbutz Carmia in southern Israel, where the Vafelina girls will sell Dutch-style syrup waffles, cookies, ice cream, coffee and soft drinks.
A statement by Christians for Israel said of the endeavor:
“The tools and skills that the girls gain in the venture significantly strengthen their self-image, abilities and assist their future integration to the Israeli job market.”
Mr. Ruud van Ginkel, who headed a delegation from Christians for Israel’s business platform, said at the donation ceremony:
“…the girls of Eden are part of this prophecy [regarding the restoration of Israel]. You are the Chosen People and you are living in the Promised Land. We, as Christians, are connected to you by the same Lord. Christians all over the world are praying for you… We see it as a privilege to be here and to see that there is an organization like Eden that gives the young people who had been neglected or abused, a new start in life. …We hope and pray that many girls are going to realize that they are valuable and that this project will help them to become a good members of Israeli society.”
