"You Shall Not Be Afraid" ✡ God Is With the Armies of Israel

When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses, and chariots, and see an army larger than your own, you shall not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God is with you, who brought you up out of the
land of Egypt.

Jerusalem Inspiration

The book of Deuteronomy opens with a speech by a high priest, or kohen, and that of the officers. The kohen, a military figure whom sages call "the kohen anointed for war", aims to rouse the courage of the soldiers and strengthen their faith in the Lord in order to ensure that they are brave and fearless in battle. Despite strong odds against the Israelite armies - their enemies have a larger army, horses and chariots - complete faith in their covenant with God, solidified by the recent miracle of the exodus from Egypt, will make them victorious in the field. Similarly, the IDF, today's "Israelite" army, is strengthened by the knowledge that the State of Israel was established with miraculous feats of military prowess despite its youth and inexperience. The IDF has quickly grown into one of the most advanced and effective armies in the world, proving that God is indeed still with us!
