'Jews Have Been in Jerusalem for Thousands of Years'
CBN News 08-30-2016

JERUSALEM, Israel -- Telling Jews they can't build homes in Jerusalem is like telling Americans they can't build in Washington, D.C., or the French that they can't build in Paris, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said.
The comment came in response to condemnation of Israel for Israeli construction in communities in Judea and Samaria, a.k.a. the West Bank.
UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov asked the UN Security Council, "How will advancing the construction of over 1,700 housing units bring the parties closer to negotiated peace, uphold the two-state solution, create hope for the Palestinian people or bring security to Israelis?"
The UN Security Council is scheduled to hold a meeting on the subject of Israeli settlement building on October 14.
Hundreds of thousands of Israelis live in Jewish communities in biblical Judea and Samaria, an area that Palestinians want to take over for a future state.  That area also includes eastern Jerusalem, where all important biblical sites are.
"The UN envoy to the Middle East's remarks to the Security Council distort history and international law and push peace farther away," said the statement from Netanyahu's office.
"Jews have been in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria for thousands of years and their presence there is not an obstacle to peace. The obstacle to peace is the unending attempt to deny the Jewish People's connection to parts of their historic land and the obdurate refusal to recognize that they are not foreigners there," the statement continued.
"The claim that Jewish construction in Jerusalem is illegal is as absurd as the claim that American construction in Washington or French construction in Paris is illegal. The Palestinian demand that a future Palestinian state be ethnically cleansed of Jews is outrageous and the UN must condemn it instead of adopting it," it concluded.
Meanwhile, Israel won a small victory against the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel.   Brussels Airlines said it would continue to serve Achva halva (a sweet made from sesame seeds) on its flights despite the fact that it's made in the Barkan Industrial Zone, in Samaria.
The airline said it was removing the product last week from the menu after a passenger complained because it wanted to serve food that was "amicable to all."

Roseanne Barr 'Shaken' by Anti-Semitic Bigotry of Fellow Liberals - Israel Today

Roseanne Barr 'Shaken' by Anti-Semitic Bigotry of Fellow Liberals

Sunday, April 03, 2016 |  Israel Today Staff
American actress and comedienne Roseanne Barr was in Israel last week to deliver a keynote address to a Jerusalem conference dealing with the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) phenomenon.
Barr said that she had become a pro-Israel advocate after being “shaken” by what she called the naked bigotry of so many liberals who claim to only be criticizing Israel, but who are in fact anti-Semitic.
“Everything I’d ever believed about the left was severely shaken, and the scales began to fall from my eyes in many ways,” said Barr. “It was shocking to realize that what I considered criticism of Israel many, many times gave way to the garden variety anti-Semitism that I’d heard all of my life.”
Barr said she was privy to a lot of such talk because for a long time fellow Hollywood elite were unaware of her own Jewish background.
She eventually came to the realization that “many of those I considered comrades were naked bigots who had absolutely no interest in peace between Israel and Palestinians Arabs at all as I did.”
And the same is true of the “social activist” movement known as BDS.
“BDS [members] do not want peace, nor do they want peace negotiations,” insisted Barr.
Like the classic anti-Semites of old, the actress accused BDS activists of seeking to “isolate and disenfranchise Jews until it will all be Jew-free.”

Israel: Still Open for Business

Israel: Still Open for Business

Standing With Israel
The last two years have seen a dramatic increase in worldwide stress and pressure on Israel. Last year, riots disrupted business, transportation and commuting.
Shops that employ Israeli citizens of all faiths saw a drop-off in sales. Some tours were cancelled. Still, a bad day in Jerusalem is better than a good week in Chicago or Detroit as far as crime and violence go.
The BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movements that uninformed, misinformed and outright malevolent groups attempt to stage are failing, but still there are some effects. Israeli companies are businesses that employ many non-Jewish citizens and their incomes are significantly higher and standard of living better than in neighboring countries of the Palestinian Authority's areas.
Has your church group cancelled a scheduled tour for fear's sake? Did you miss a chance to ride a boat on the Sea of Galilee?
Remember, the Messiah calmed the storms there and walked on water. Each time he said "do not be afraid." Our days are numbered and each day counts. No one knows from the hour they wake until the hour they sleep what will happen. Only the Creator knows. Faith tells us that only He is in charge. No one else, neither friend nor enemy.
If your tour is coming up this year, obey the command of "don't be afraid." There is only one Israel. In the meantime do you have gifts to buy for weddings, birthdays, celebrations? There are many online merchants that operate from Israel. They offer a vast catalog of everything from crafts made in Bethlehem and Nazareth to delicious foods that are pure delights.
Do you know what Kosher means? The Hebrew meaning is "special," set aside. The Torah, the first five books of the Bible, were transcribed by Moses (Moshe' in Hebrew) and contain the instructions and examples that the Creator wanted His chosen people to follow in the Covenant made with Moses. Certain foods were not to be eaten, certain things were not being mixed, and no form of worship the idolaters used were to be used by the Israelites.
His people, His worship and His Word were "Kushra": special, set aside. Jesus (Yeshua in Hebrew) said "be holy as I am holy." The Hebrew meaning is "be set apart as I am set apart." Be in the world but not a part of it and its ways. "You are mine and I am your God," he says.
Kosher foods are best made in Israel. Fresh ingredients are used (no GMO!) Olive oil, baked goods, these are exported daily. Jaffa (Yafo) oranges are amazing in their size and juiciness. Rabbis certify that foods were prepared and made according to rules and a seal is applied.
Do you know that there are hundreds of certifying agencies in the United States each with their own seal? We all recognize Hebrew National meats; now we see what Kosher really means. Some of us say Kosher means "delicious."
Seeing how ancient traditions are carried into modern day Israel is a real learning experience. Israel combined faith, heritage and fast-paced living into a workable lifestyle that all can learn from. Israel is open for business and ready to welcome you.

Israel Increasingly Sees Boycotts as Existential Threat

Israel Increasingly Sees Boycotts as Existential Threat

Thursday, June 04, 2015 |  Ryan Jones  ISRAEL TODAY
A handful of recent victories for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement have Israelis concerned that this growing phenomenon could become, and perhaps already is an existential threat to the Jewish state.
“BDS has been winning the battle for public perception,” noted prominent columnist Ben-Dror Yemini in Yediot Ahronot. “Those who claim that BDS will not affect the Israeli economy are correct. For now. …But it’s an illusion. On campuses, at research institutes, and in media outlets, there has been a consistent, protracted, and dangerous erosion of support for Israel.”
The most stunning achievement of the BDS movement has been legitimizing the notion that Israel has no right to exist at all. BDS exploits the language of human rights in order to attract well-meaning people, even as delegitimizing the miracle of Israel’s modern rebirth.
Yemini and others worry that Israel, content with legal victories and the steady support of older generations, is doing too little to combat this phenomenon.

Israel is NOT apartheid state, says South African leader's daughter

Israel is NOT apartheid state, says South African leader's daughter

Wednesday, August 28, 2013 |  Israel Today Staff
The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement that wants to label Israel as an apartheid state continues to suffer major setbacks, not least of which are outright denunciations by the people who know apartheid best - black South Africans.
In an interview with news blog Democracy Broadcasting, Esther Meshoe, daughter of conservative South African parliamentarian, Dr. Kenneth Meshoe, slammed the BDS movement as nothing but false propaganda.
"The truth is there is no apartheid in Israel," said Meshoe. "My parents suffered through apartheid."
Sadly, many South Africans have been taken in by the BDS claims against Israel. Meshoe recalled the recent visit to Israel by a family friend who was shocked to find the Jewish state very different from what he was told.
"A family friend of ours went to Israel two years ago, and he was in an accident, unfortunately, and he was taken to a hospital. On his right was a Jew, on his left was an Arab, being treated. So here he is, a black man, a South African, and he says to himself, 'This is not apartheid. what apartheid are they talking about?'"
As damaging as the lies against Israel is the fact that the BDS propaganda significantly downplays the suffering of those who went through real apartheid.
Meshoe noted that in South Africa, Nelson Mandela and his followers had to fight for basic rights, like the right to vote, go to school, move about freely and receive health care. If Israel were truly an apartheid state, then the battle that Mandela fought is already won, as Arab residents of the Jewish state already enjoy all these freedoms and benefits.
Addressing fellow Christians who would make the mistake of supporting the BDS lies against Israel, Meshoe had this to say:
"We need to speak up and tell the truth that Israel is not an apartheid state. We love the Jewish people, but more than that we love the truth. And the God that we serve is a God of love and truth. And in our Bible we are taught to be people of the truth."
