Notre Dame Cathedral. But God. - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Notre Dame Cathedral.
But God.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8, NAS)

Much as been reported on TV, written in newspapers and social media, and spoken all over the world, about the burning of the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris. It is a major event, of destruction and forever loss. This type of structure just cannot be replaced, no matter how much money will be pledged and spent to bring it back to its former glory. (I think of the 2nd Jewish Temple and its destruction in 70 A.D.)

I have never been to France. but I do know Frenchmen, having served with Derek Prince Ministries for 8 years and knowing the French director of the ministry there during that time. It was always a struggle to have funds to support that specific national office; far more so than the other 11 worldwide offices DPM had at that time.

The deep foundational roots of Catholicism made the effort to share the pure Word of the Gospel quite difficult from that office. And now with the influx of Middle Eastern culture and religion, even well beyond the French borders in other European countries, I am sure the cost in spiritual and natural resources must make the desire for truth shared even more difficult to cast seed and bear fruit.

It continually amazes me that even in such a situation as this, such as this terrible Notre Dame Cathedral immense fire, many do not even consider the One who still sits on the throne of heaven. They instead speak of “Our Lady”, the English version of Notre Dame, as if she is the queen of all. Often, she is lifted up above her Creator, God Himself. Indeed, Miriam (the real name of Mary, in Hebrew) was called and blessed of God to bear His Only Begotten Son, Jesus (Yeshua), which she willingly accepted to do, though unmarried at the time. But even she never exalted herself, but instead exalted her God.

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.” (Luke 1:38, NIV)

A servant generally doesn’t think they are above and beyond their Master. They tend to better understand their role. As so with the real Mary, the one who gave birth to our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Messiah, that was her proper consideration of herself.

But God chose her, as He has and continues to do among humankind. His plan and purpose is to draw each to His Son Jesus, Who alone is the Savior of the world. Only through His shed blood will forgiveness, redemption and salvation be found. There is no other.

Having been a Roman Catholic for the first 21 years of my life, I understand the theology that was built on and covering over the very foundation of truth, laid by God through Jews, since the days of Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the Prophets, Jesus (Himself a Jew, and still is), and the early church apostles and believers. All Jews. And not Mary worshippers, but Yeshua, God in the flesh, worshippers.

The cross remains at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France

It is now time that any and all structures, both in the natural and the spiritual, that have covered over that eternal truth, of Jesus Christ being the Only Savior, be torn down and restored to that of which He is. Only then will eyes be turned from the idols and lies that have so blinded, so many, for so long.

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
But God (emphasis mine), who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:1-10)
There is no joy in seeing the destruction of beautiful architecture that was built centuries past. For that matter, there is no joy at all in seeing anything good and wholesome in life being removed, especially the unborn lives we have become accustomed to destroying, with little thought of the eternal ramifications.
But God, seated on the throne, knows what is going on, and is not sitting idly by. He promised to shake all things that stand between Him and the people He loves, continually trying to show that His love alone can save.
When that truth is realized and accepted, those crying at times like these can know of Him and know Him. Hopefully, they will turn to Him, Jesus Christ, and be saved.
Now think on this.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

Macron's Overt Antisemitism - Tsvi Sadan ISRAEL TODAY

Macron's Overt Antisemitism

Tuesday, June 12, 2018 |  Tsvi Sadan  ISRAEL TODAY
Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to France on June 5th yielded interesting statements from French President Emmanuel Macron.
After going through the routine of condemning all forms of violence against civilians and committing France to the security of Israel, Macron's problematic ideas about violence and peace came when he "condemn[ed] all form of expressions to incite, made by certain groups, and I am thinking of Hamas here," as well as when he spoke about his disapproval of the moving of the US Embassy to Jerusalem, which led to "people dying"… in Gaza. "If this [move of the embassy] leads to people dying, it’s not a celebration," he said.
Macron, if he ever takes notice, could sue me for attaching antisemitism to his name, and if that happens, I will lose the case in a heartbeat, because Macron is not an anti-Semite. This being said, there can be no denial that Macron is using logical and moral arguments of the kind that will show their true colors only if taken to their logical conclusion, ad absurdum.
By today's moral standard, Israel would never have come into being for the simple reason that it is viewed as a white colonialist entity that displaced indigenous people and occupied their land. This argument, you might be interested to know, is the oldest anti-Semitic ploy in the book. This moral charge, echoed repeatedly in the Bible, has become the standard reason for opposing Jewish presence in the Land of Israel ever since.
Now, since the Jewish people stand on the three-legged foundation of Torah-People-Land, removing one leg will bring an end to the whole thing called Israel. Antisemitism, therefore, goes far deeper than Holocaust-denial or raw hatred of the Jews. Fundamentally, antisemitism is any attempt to remove any one of these legs.
Concerning today's most pressing issue, the land, in his opening comments on the Book of Genesis, Rashi, arguably the most important Jewish interpreter of the Bible, explains why Genesis was even written. The reason, he argues, is written in Psalm 111:6: "He has shown his people the power of his works by giving them the lands of other nations."
Accordingly, Genesis was written in case "the nations of the world will say that 'you are robbers because you have occupied the lands of seven nations,' tell them that the Land is the Lord's. He created it and He gave it to whom He pleased." Rashi's answer is chillingly candid. Without divine decree, he seems to be saying, Israel is indeed a moral travesty.
In this scheme, overt antisemitism, which denies the very idea of a "chosen people" rightfully dwelling on the land of seven nations, becomes a morally-sound position that was, and still is, used against Israel.
Consider the 1919 Paris peace treaty, which among other things approved the Balfour Declaration for a Jewish home in Mandatory Palestine. Leading up to this treaty was the King-Crane Commission that concluded that support for a Jewish state in Palestine would lead to violence since, due to Arab resistance, "only by force can a Jewish state in Palestine be established or maintained." If, as it is today, peace was the primary driving principal behind the superpowers' foreign policy, Israel would have never come into being.
Macron's logic and morality run along the same lines. If the move of the American embassy to Jerusalem breeds violence in Gaza, it is morally and politically imperative not to do it. Peace above all, even if it means the clogging of the arteries of Israel's heart, is good for Israel, and for the world, according to this moral anti-Semitic argument. To balance it off, Macron draws moral equivalency between Israel and Hamas by refusing to address this entity's expressed supreme goal of destroying Israel. Peace, the anti-Semites will argue, is more important than Israel.
Whether or not he realizes it, Macron is softly whispering, much like the famous MASH theme song, the lullaby of "suicide is painless. It brings on many changes." While for some it might be unwittingly done, this is part of a "valiant" European effort to euthanize Israel.

France: Trump Was Wrong to Recognize Jerusalem as Israel's Capital - Israel Today

France: Trump Was Wrong to Recognize Jerusalem as Israel's Capital

Thursday, March 08, 2018 |  Israel Today Staff
France's president believes that for the sake of advancing a peace process that hasn't gone anywhere in 20 years, the international community should continue adhering to a fantasy that is clearly debunked by facts on the ground.
Speaking at the annual dinner of France's Jewish umbrella organization, CRIF, President Emmanuel Macron chastised US President Donald Trump for his recent public recognition of the obvious - that Jerusalem is the capital city of the State of Israel.
Macron called this move an "error" that only served to perpetuate the Middle East conflict.
He went on to echo Palestinian leaders by insisting the US could no longer play the role of honest and unbiased peace broker.
What Macron glossed over was the fact that 20 years of playing to the Arab narrative regarding Jerusalem had likewise never served to advance the cause of peace. Even former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak's offer to surrender most of the eastern half of the Holy City didn't result in an agreement. In fact, it preceeded precisely the opposite - an explosion of violence.
Pretending that Jerusalem is not the capital of Israel to avoid Palestinian outbursts is akin to a parent letting a belligerent child have his or her way to forestall a temper tantrum.

Friend or Foe? - Charles Gardner ISRAEL TODAY

Friend or Foe?

Thursday, February 08, 2018 |  Charles Gardner  ISRAEL TODAY
Fine-sounding words are not enough. Actions speak much louder. The apostle James berated those who boasted about their faith when it wasn’t matched by their deeds (James 2.14).
Britain’s new Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson has said the United Kingdom “will always be Israel’s friend” and spoke of how the Jewish state is a “beacon of light and hope in a region where there is so much hatred and hurt”.
In addressing the Conservative Friends of Israel’s annual parliamentary reception, he also hailed “the wonderful blooming of democracy that is Israel”.
I was heartened by his resounding praise for the Jewish state, and do not doubt his sincerity, but he is part of a government that in recent days has refused to follow U.S. President Trump’s lead in recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and which also continues to desist from applying a full ban on the Hezbollah terrorist organisation.
Both these actions encourage Israel’s enemies to believe they have our support for their bloodthirsty Jihad (holy war) against the Jews, illustrated once more on Monday with the brutal stabbing to death of a 29-year-old Israeli rabbi at a bus stop in Samaria. Itamar Ben-Gal leaves a wife and four children. This followed last month’s murder, also in Samaria, of a 35-year-old rabbi and father-of-six in a drive-by shooting outside Nablus (the biblical Shechem, home to Joseph’s Tomb and Jacob’s Well.) Ten children in the area are thus left fatherless in the space of a few weeks.
At best, we are sending out mixed messages, the modus operandi of Palestinian politicians who have often been caught saying one thing to their Arab audience and quite another to the English-speaking world. (For examples of this, see https://www.palwatch.org/">Palestinian Media Watch)
Oh yes, I know that diplomats are charged with seeking peace and should try, if at all possible, to accommodate all parties, but appeasement will only ever succeed in putting off the evil day of reckoning which, when it comes, will be much more difficult to unravel. The current Israeli-Palestinian conflict is itself an example of the persistent failure of short-term deals made to keep the ‘peace’ with Arab parties ever since the Balfour Declaration was published 100 years ago.
Instead of getting on with it and immediately implementing its declared goal – the resettlement of Jews from the diaspora in the Promised Land – we dithered and dallied for decades in a fruitless effort to please all parties. The enemies of Israel saw it as weakness, which they exploited to the hilt with violence that had us chasing our tails looking for a way out of the awesome responsibility we had been given.
Now, just days after marking Holocaust Memorial Day in Parliament and all over the country, we hear of rising anti-Semitism in Britain, Ireland and France.
The Community Security Trust, in their annual report on anti-Semitism, said there were 1,382 such incidents in Britain in 2017 – the highest since it began gathering data in 1984.
In Paris, an eight-year-old boy was attacked in the second assault on Jewish children in the area in three weeks, drawing condemnation from French President Emmanuel Macron, rightly concerned at the prospect of losing yet more citizens as a result. France has Europe’s largest Jewish community, but many have made Aliyah (emigrated) to Israel in the wake of increasing anti-Semitism in recent years.
The Irish Parliament, meanwhile, is considering a Bill that would boycott goods produced by Israeli companies based in Judea and Samaria and the Golan Heights, with up to five years’ imprisonment awaiting offenders.
Quite apart from the fact that such a boycott would also harm Palestinian workers, it is a shocking form of anti-Semitism which, not surprisingly, provoked anger from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu along with reported intervention from the United States. The parliament has now postponed voting on the Bill, which is likely to be re-visited in the summer.
From Britain’s point of view, the situation is aggravated by worrying in-fighting among the ranks of the Conservative-led government – mostly over Brexit – which could open the door to a Labour Party having its own problems with anti-Semitism.
The Bible says: “When a country is rebellious, it has many rulers, but a ruler with discernment and knowledge maintains order.” (Proverbs 28.2)
The Irish, like the South African government, have clearly fallen into the trap, set by Palestinian propaganda, of seeing Israel as an ‘apartheid’ state. South African diplomat Clinton Swemmer told the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva that apartheid, once used to describe black disenfranchisement in South Africa, now applies to Israel because of its policies towards Palestinians.
He said: “Israel is the only state in the world that can be called an apartheid state.” But as Dan Diker, of the Jerusalem Centre for Public Affairs, points out, Swemmer is speaking for many who know little or nothing about Israel and never lived through apartheid. “There is not even one point of similarity (between apartheid South Africa and Israel),” Diker said, adding: “Our parliament, Supreme Court, universities, bathrooms, hospitals and everything else in Israel are fully integrated.”
At the end of the day, the word of God is clear, “For the Lord has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling…” (Psalm 132.13)
