In Our Hands: The Battle for Jerusalem. Get Tickets
FULL TEXT OF PRESIDENT TRUMP'S SPEECH:

Thank you, Prime Minister Netanyahu. I want to thank you and Sara for hosting us for what has been an unforgettable visit to this very special land. I also want to thank Chairman Itzik Molko, Acting Director Ayellet Shilloh-Tamir, and Chief Operating Officer Dalia Lazar, for hosting us today in this incredible museum. And thank you, Ambassador and Mrs. Friedman for joining us, along with a number of very good friends who have come from our country to yours as we reaffirm the unshakeable bond between the United States and Israel.
I want to begin my remarks today by sending the thoughts and prayers of the entire American People to the victims of the terrorist attack in Manchester, in the United Kingdom, and our condolences to the many families who lost their loved ones.  Dozens of innocent people and beautiful young children were savagely murdered in this heinous attack upon humanity.  I repeat again that we must drive out the terrorists and the extremists from our midst, obliterate this evil ideology, and protect and defend our citizens.  All civilized nations must be united in this effort.  This trip is focused on that goal: bringing nations together around the goal of defeating the terrorism that threatens the world and crushing the hateful ideology that drives it so hard, and seems to be driving it so fast.
It is a privilege to stand here in this national museum, in the ancient city of Jerusalem, to address the Israeli people – and all people in the Middle East who yearn for security, prosperity, and peace.
Jerusalem is a sacred city. Its beauty, splendor, and heritage are like no other place on earth. What a heritage. The ties of the Jewish people to this Holy Land are ancient and eternal. They date back thousands of years, including the reign of King David whose star now flies proudly on Israel's white and blue flag.
Yesterday, I visited the Western Wall, and marveled at the monument to God's presence and man's perseverance – I was humbled to place my hand upon the wall and to pray in that holy space for wisdom from God.
I also visited and prayed at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a site revered by Christians throughout the world. I laid a wreath at Yad Vashem, honoring, remembering, and mourning the 6 million Jews who were murdered in the Holocaust. I pledged there what I pledge again to those here today: NEVER AGAIN.
Israel is a testament to the unbreakable spirit of the Jewish people.  From all parts of this great country, one message resounds: and that is the message of hope.
Down through the ages, the Jewish people have suffered persecution, oppression and even those who have sought their destruction.  But, through it all, they have endured – and they have thrived.
I stand in awe of the accomplishments of the Jewish People, and I make this promise to you: My Administration will always stand with Israel.
Through your hardships, you have created one of the most abundant lands in the world. A land that is rich not only in history, culture, and opportunity, but especially in spirit.
This museum where we are gathered today tells the story of that spirit - from the two Holy Temples, to the glorious heights of Masada, we see an incredible story of faith and perseverance. That faith is what inspired Jews to believe in their destiny, to overcome their despair, and to build here a future that others dared not to dream.
In Israel, not only are Jews free to till the soil, teach their children, and pray to God in the ancient land of their forefathers. But Muslims, Christians, and people of all faiths, are free to live and worship according to their conscience and to follow their dreams.
Today, gathered with friends, I call upon all people – Jews, Christians, Muslims, and every faith, tribe, and creed – to draw inspiration from this ancient city, to set aside our sectarian differences, to overcome oppression and hatred, and to give all children the freedom and hope and dignity written into our souls.
Earlier this week, I spoke at a historic summit in Saudi Arabia. There, I urged our friends in the Muslim world to join us in creating stability, safety and security. I was deeply encouraged by the desire of many leaders to join us in cooperation toward these shared and vital goals. Conflict cannot continue forever – the only question is when nations will decide that they have had enough.
That historic summit represents a new opportunity for people throughout the Middle East to overcome sectarian and religious divisions to extinguish the fires of extremism, and find common ground and shared responsibility in making the future of this region.  Change must come from within.
No mother or father wants their children to grow up in a world where terrorists roam free, schoolchildren are murdered, and their loved ones are taken. No child is born with prejudice in their heart. No one should teach young boys and girls to hate and kill.
And no civilized nation can tolerate the massacre of innocents with chemical weapons.
My message to that summit was the same message I have for you: We must build a coalition of partners who share the aim of stamping out extremism and violence – and providing our children a peaceful and hopeful future.
But a hopeful future for children in the Middle East requires the world to fully recognize the vital role of the state of Israel.
And, on behalf of the United States, we pledge to stand by you and defend our shared values so that together we can defeat terrorism and create safety for all of God's children.
Israelis have experienced firsthand the hatred and terror of radical violence. Israelis are murdered by terrorists wielding knives and bombs. Hamas and Hezbollah launch rockets into Israeli communities where schoolchildren have to be trained to hear the sirens and run to bomb shelters. ISIS targets Jewish neighborhoods, synagogues, and storefronts. And Iran's leaders routinely call for Israel's destruction.  Not with Donald J. Trump.
Despite these challenges, Israel is thriving as a sovereign nation – and no international body should question the contributions Israel makes to the region.
Today, let us pray for that peace – and for a more hopeful future across the Middle East.
There are those who present a false choice.  They say that we must choose between supporting Israel and supporting Arab and Muslim nations in the region.  That is completely wrong.  All decent people want to live in peace, and all humanity is threatened by the evils of terrorism.  Diverse nations can unite around the goal of protecting innocent life, upholding human dignity, and promoting peace and stability in the region.  My Administration is committed to pursuing such a coalition, and we have already made substantial progress during this trip.
We know, for instance, that both Israelis and Palestinians seek lives of hope for their children.  And we know that peace is possible if we put aside the pain and disagreements of the past and commit together to finally resolving this crisis which has dragged on for nearly half a century.
As I have repeatedly said, I am personally committed to helping Israelis and Palestinians achieve a peace agreement, and I had a meeting this morning with President Mahmoud Abbas and I can tell you that the Palestinians are ready to reach for peace – and, from my meeting with my friend Benjamin Netanyahu, I can tell you Israelis are ready to reach for peace as well.
Making peace will not be easy.  We all know that.  Both sides will face tough decisions. But with determination, compromise, and the belief that peace is possible, Israelis and Palestinians can make a deal.  But even as we work toward peace, we will build strength to defend our nations.
The United States is firmly committed to keeping Iran from developing a nuclear weapon and halting their support of terrorists and militias that are causing so much suffering and chaos throughout the Middle East.
America's security partnership with Israel is stronger than ever – including the Iron Dome missile defense program, which has been keeping the Israeli people safe from short-range rockets launched by Hezbollah and Hamas. And David's sling which guards against long-range missiles. It is my hope that someday very soon Israeli children will never need to rush towards shelter, as sirens ring out.
Finally, the United States is proud that Israeli Air Force pilots are flying new American F-35 planes to defend their nation, and it was wonderful to see these mighty aircraft in the skies over Israel recently as you celebrated the 69th anniversary of Israel's independence.
But even as we strengthen our partnership in practice, let us always remember our highest ideals – let us never forget that the bond between our two nations is woven together in the hearts of our people – and their love of freedom, hope, and dignity for every man and every woman.
Let us dream of a future where Jewish, Muslim and Christian children can grow up together and live together in trust, harmony, tolerance and respect.
The values practiced in Israel have inspired millions all across the world.
The conviction of Theodor Herzl rings true today: "whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind."
As we stand in Jerusalem, we see pilgrims of all faiths coming to this land to walk on this hallowed ground.
Jews place the prayers from their hearts in the stone blocks of the Western Wall.
Christians pray in the pews of an ancient church.
Muslims answer the call to prayer at their holy sites.
This city, like no other place in the world, reveals the longing of the human heart – to know and worship God.
Jerusalem stands as a reminder that life can flourish against any odds.
When we look around this city, and we see people of all faiths engaged in reverent worship, and school children learning side-by-side, and men and women lifting up the needy and forgotten, we see that God's promise of healing has brought goodness to so many lives. We see that the people of this land had the courage to overcome the oppression and injustice of the past – and to live in the freedom God intends for every person on this earth.
Today, in Jerusalem, we pray and we hope that children around the world will soon be able to live without fear, to dream without limits, and to prosper without violence. I ask this land of promise to join with me to fight our common enemies, to pursue our shared values, and to protect the dignity of every child of God.
Thank you. God bless you. God bless the State of Israel. And God bless the United States.

A Lot of Times Revival Comes Through the Back Door by Kathie Walters

A Lot of Times Revival Comes Through the Back Door         Kathie Walters

Identity Network

I am sure you know or at least have read how many times revival has come through the back door, not the way people were expecting. Did you know that very often in history, revival has come through children?  Do you know that God is much more willing to "take over" than we are willing to let Him?  We believe we are willing, but God sometimes does "strange acts" that we are not familiar with.

In Isaiah chapter 64 it says that when God came down He did terrible (awesome, powerful, unimaginable) things we looked not for.  So when God takes over and He does all kinds of powerful and wonderful things, what are we to do? Definitely NOT try and work it out with our mind. The mind, however great, will never understand the mysterious ways and mysteries of God, but by the enlightenment of the Spirit. This is where we have to listen closely to the witness of the Spirit within us. He is there to teach you the truth.

In 1 John it says that, "you don't need any man to teach you because the anointing within you is to teach you" (1 John 2:27).

Does that mean we don't need teachers?  Of course not, because they are given by God to instruct the Body of Christ in truth. Anointed teachers who teach under the anointing of the Holy Spirit and impart spiritual truth that brings you ultimately into a closer relationship with Jesus. Truth from God of necessity always sets you free because that's His nature. He does not bring you into bondage again to fear.

I think sometimes we assume that God wants to use someone but there are times when God does things all by Himself!!  He comes through the back door. Keep your spiritual antenna up in the coming days!

 Gone Away

When my husband, David, went to the schools in England years ago they sometimes had to close the school because the power of God came into the school. The kids were under the power of the Holy Spirit, in the corridors and laying all over the playing fields. No one prayed for them. David preached, and then God took over. He chased people.

In the Hebrides revival (see my book "Bright and Shining Revival") The presence of God came down and chased people in the fields and pubs and dance halls. They ran to the church or the police station. In that revival, whole towns were saved.

I was in a meeting in Columbus, Ohio where my husband, David, had been preaching and the Spirit was moving everywhere at the end. A small girl came up to me.  The little ones had been released from the nursery because they thought the meeting upstairs with the adults had finished.

I knelt down to ask the little girl what she wanted (she was tugging on my skirt). She started to speak to me and suddenly God came upon her.  The little girl was gesturing with her arms, and she was suddenly "frozen." That's an expression I use. It has been used in times of revival.  I don't know if this has ever happened to you?  If not, don't worry it will, but the presence of God comes on you so strong that you really can't move, not even bat an eyelid. The person is encased in the Presence of God.  Usually you are taken by the Spirit into heaven or even to another country, or to a place somewhere in the Spiritual realm which is not of this earth.

The little girl was "gone away."  In Scotland years ago during times of revival, when people were encased like that in God's presence they would say they had "gone away" (in the spirit).

I waited and two other small children came and leaned around the girl to see what she was doing, but as soon as they got close to her, this awesome presence fell on them too and they all stood frozen, like statues with their hands raised. One girl had her arms stretched out in front of her.  They stood like this - frozen.  The Presence around them was so strong. I stood up and was keeping an eye on them because I know when that happens you can't tell how long they will be "gone away."

Maybe an hour, three hours, 24 hours?  Well after about an hour I saw one of them move very slightly. When the anointing lifts like that it is very gradually, not suddenly. I knelt down again and waited. When the Holy Spirit lifted from the first little child who had been talking to me, she opened her eyes and looked at me and finished the sentence that she started before this anointing came. I asked them afterwards if they remembered anything? One said, "Jesus was hugging me close and whispering to me about my future."

Funny we were at the back of the room. God sometimes comes in the back door.

Getting Lost in God

In a camp one time in Ohio, we were ministering to the youth and adults - the youth were like concrete - you just couldn't get through to them. They were so resistant to the Holy Spirit - because they were all together and the guys were trying to be tough and not yield to God.  The third day we asked the Lord about it and He said, "After supper minister and pray for the children."

So after we finished eating, we gathered the children in a room and David began to preach to them. He preaches the same to the children as he does to the adults because they don't have a junior Holy Spirit. He preached and then prayed. The power of God fell on them. They were all over the floor, weeping and praying and were truly in another realm.

Someone came and said we need to make our way to the meeting place at the top of the hill, so we ushered the children out, although they could hardly stand. They were still weeping and laughing.  Half way up the hill they caught up with the teenagers who were dragging their feet, not wanting to be at the meeting. But as the small children caught up with them - bang - the power of God fell on the teens, all of them at once, and they fell out on the side of the hill and started sobbing and weeping and repenting.

After a while when they tried to get up, they were so drunk in the Holy Spirit they all helped each other, the big kids and little kids, pulling and pushing each other up to the meeting place.  David and I went ahead and sat with other 200 people attending the camp and waited.

As they hit the doorways the power of God fell on the whole place - everyone was tipped out of their chairs onto the floor. Even more weeping and sobbing and laughing and the whole place so was drunk in the Presence of the Lord.   I don't think we really had another meeting after that.  When the kids and youth came near, the whole place would just fill up and get lost in God.  He took over. He wants to. He loves to. He loves to show Himself strong on behalf of those that love Him.  Sometimes He comes in the back door.

Revival or Move of the Spirit

It's natural for people who have had some kind of encounter with God to want to experience Him more. If God is God and is a supernatural God, which He must be, then it's normal to want to experience and know His supernatural acts. After all He's our Dad.

I was thinking of this the last couple of days.  Inside it felt like I was groaning. There is a groaning of the spirit that stirs you up inside.

I remember when David and I first came to America, it was full blown Charismatic move. There was speaking in tongues and prophesying, words of knowledge etc., but I would feel something missing - I would find myself praying, "Lord please show people what you really can do. Let them see you when you are really in charge."

At first I couldn't figure out why I didn't see the kind of things I had seen before in other places. Now we were in places where God was moving and things were happening, it was not like NOTHING - there was a measure of God's presence. But it was not what I had seen before.

I remember we were ministering to a group of Christians from Portsmouth, UK. They were having a "camp" meeting on the Isle of Wight. Which is a small island off the south coast of England.

We were staying in a "Bed and Breakfast" guesthouse owned by some Christians and we had access to the meeting hall of the Plymouth Brethren church next door.  In the evening we would use the meeting hall for our meetings. During the daytime we did the normal holiday type things, beach, sightseeing, etc.  After the meeting went back to our B and B for an evening drink and snack

We had a great time and then we came to the last day.  Sunday church was ok - it was very quiet though as we joined in the Plymouth Brethren Service and then went out in the afternoon and had a meeting in the evening in the fellowship hall. The evening meeting was good, people were blessed and most people went back into the house for the pre-bedtime snacks. David and I also left the group of teenagers standing in a circle, still worshipping the Lord, so sweetly.

The Move of the Spirit

Drinking our hot chocolate and chatting in the guesthouse, we had not thought anymore about the teens. Suddenly we heard the sound of feet running and someone yelling, "David, David, Kathie…come quick." Well we didn't know what on earth was happening. We followed the young guy back into the meeting hall.

When we entered the room, it was filled with a heavy presence of God. Some of the teenagers were yelling.

In the middle of the circle was a young man of about fifteen years old. He had been saved earlier that day, so he knew nothing of the Spirit realm. He was kneeling on the floor and his arm and finger was raised and pointing. He was slowly turning in a circle on his knees.  As his finger pointed, moving around the circle, the person he pointed to fell to the floor and started to get delivered. Some were crying, some were laughing, some were making other sounds as demonic spirits left them.

The teens that had not yet been reached by Andrew's pointing finger were trying to run away but their feet were glued to the floor and they were unable to move, that's why they were yelling.

We just stood and watched as Andrew's arm and finger slowly moved around and pointed to them. Then each just crumpled and fell in a heap. The Spirit of God started moving on them and they began to get deliverance from lots of things from the past. We waited until the last one hit the floor. Andrew was still kneeling in the middle.

I wanted to explain that it was like watching a movie. Like they were not there. I'm not sure how to explain that if you haven't yet experienced it.

We left them there and went back into the house to join the other adults, drinking their nightcap, tea, and munching cookies.  I remember hearing a noise like a train and thinking, "I didn't realize we were near a railway station."  Well we weren't, we were in a little village. Then this sense of POWER came slowly into the room. The lady I was talking to knew something (the Presence of God) was coming towards us, and she was trying to put down her cup of tea before it did.

He Does as He Pleases

Suddenly everyone fell down on the floor and started weeping or laughing or making other sounds. After a while it was quiet and people were whispering to one another. People were confessing things to one another. Then the room was very bright and silent.

We took a breath and suddenly there was another noise above us, like when the wind blows. Then the children came running down from upstairs. They had all gone to bed and were asleep, but the Holy Spirit went up there and woke them up and began to convict them and touch them in a powerful way. They ran down the stairs and flew to their parents to ask forgiveness and tell their mom and dad how much they loved them. Does it surprise you that God doesn't think "Oh little children are asleep, I'll come back tomorrow."

He sees them the same as you and I. Because they are small it doesn't mean they have a baby Holy Spirit.

The next day we left and went home. No one was the same.  This was the fellowship that Graham Cooke was part of.  Sometimes God comes in the back door. Keep an eye on it. God doesn't always use the ones in front. Sometimes He doesn't use anyone particularly - He uses Himself. This is on the way - don't look just for what you are used to.  He is the door - He can be and do as He pleases. When He shows up it's really better to move out of the way.

THE SECRET THINGS (c) Morris E. Ruddick

THE SECRET THINGS

(c) Morris E. Ruddick

SIGN

"In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim .... and they were calling to one another: 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Hosts, the whole earth is filled with His glory.'" Isaiah 6:1-3

All truth is parallel. Whether in business, in social organizations or within the church, everyone wants to tap the creative, to unlock the secrets that will release opportunity. Steve Jobs was known for this ability. He thought differently and viewed things from a different perspective than most other people. He sought to change the world and within his sphere he did.

Yet, in God, there is more to this dynamic. In God, the bar is higher. It's more than what a focused, ultra high-energy intellect can develop. In God, it involves operating beyond ourselves. In God, it entails a cost. In God, it is ignited by His presence and conforms to the pulse of heaven.

In God, there are complexities to our spiritual environments not only to be aware of, but to be taken on and subdued.

The story of Isaiah's glimpse into the presence of the Lord and the calling that followed unveil secrets in this creative process, a process that goes beyond the normal boundaries of prayer -- a process with secrets that will shake the rafters and bring about meaningful change.

Entering God's presence challenges everything around it. Just praying the words of the seraphim angels puts me in touch with His awesome holiness and the reality of the whole earth being filled with his glory.

Beyond Ourselves
Yet, to abide in His presence, calls for more. There can be no pretense, no illusions nor the traditions of men. Jesus noted that the gateways of heaven would be open to Nathaniel, as he was a man without pretense. Still, both Deuteronomy and Hebrews describe His presence as a consuming fire. Surmounting these hurdles, God's presence contains a rhythm, a pattern that combines His glory and His nature.

God's presence triggers secrets or mysteries beyond our natural comprehension that give release to His creativity. Touching His presence sets in motion the unlimited dimension of His glory, as His very nature overflows with the creative. The very process sparks change.

As Isaiah was reaching beyond himself and ran into God's presence, God's presence unveiled a secret, which Isaiah embraced. The authority to unfold the creative process followed, as Isaiah's response to his calling released him into becoming a force for change that would reshape everything around him.

The Progressive Rhythm
Isaiah's response made him an integral part of this process, this progressive rhythm, this pulse in God. For those entering this dimension in God, change will result. For the person walking out a calling, the first thing that will happen will be that the perspective will change. It's more than just revelation. It begins inwardly before it can be released outwardly. Encountering God's presence for Isaiah brought the wise reply of: "Woe is me. I am a man of unclean lips among a people of unclean lips." The response of repentance changes your thinking and begins the process.

Solomon had as much to say about fools as he did wisdom. Fools are constrained by limitations in their thinking, by their own revelations. Fools, regardless of their IQs, are those who become obsessed by their own perceptions of reality rather than God's unlimited glory and the process to be unleashed.

A Force for Change
Reaching beyond himself, as Isaiah did, is foundational to maintain the process. Sustaining the process means becoming a force for change. It is the simple things that confound the wise. It is why again and again, God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. They are ones who have discovered this rhythm and the gateway into God's treasury of secret things.

The Listening Heart. Maintenance during this process also pivots on listening, a heart intent on hearing His truth. It's been said that our ability to hear His voice is directly correlated to our willingness to obey it. That explains why meekness and humility are so important to embracing truth. Those who fail to get beyond the inward response, as if it were about them, as well as those who are unable to "hear" due to their own constant chatter, are going to miss it. Even those who have experienced deep revelation must get beyond themselves and stay there. It takes more.

It is more than just hearing. Jesus revealed a deep truth to this dimension about His presence. He told His disciples that the words He spoke, He did not speak on His own authority, but that the Father did the works (John 14:10). Jesus was constantly pointing back to His dependency on the Father. In unveiling this gargantuan insight, He told His inner circle that He was the true vine and the Father was the vinedresser. From that premise, he imparted the necessity of bearing fruit, needed to keep the process moving forward (John 15:1). Fruit is the natural result of abiding in Him.

The Secret of Abiding. This is the biggest point of stumbling. His presence actuates creative change. It's His nature. Where we fall short and the secret is in being a force for His change. That secret depends on abiding in Him. When we abide in Him, His nature flows within us and the natural course of things will be creative change. It's a place beyond ourselves. It involves a faith that will not compromise with evil.

As Isaiah pursued the process, he uncovered a deep dimension in the cost of abiding. He prophesied that the Messiah (Isa 53:4) would "bear our griefs and carry our sorrows." This is a part of the secret in which everything, beginning with the natural order of things, will change. Jesus spent nights in prayer, in the presence of the Father. During those times, He entered the spiritual world and tapped the realities that would soon follow in the natural. It's where the cost was paid and the transaction sealed. It was in the secret place that He took on the griefs and sorrows and actuated the release from bondages as He flowed in the place of God's unlimited creativity.
"Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in the heaven." Matt 18:18

Operating Domains
Historically, the game-changers among God's people have been those who have learned the secret of abiding and drawing from the pulse of heaven. Game-changers are forerunners, leaders whose influence reshapes the way for others. Progressively, their domains have penetrated the spiritual foundations of society in the world around them. The primary spheres of this game-changing influence include culture, economy and power.

Culture. Long before Joseph was promoted by Pharaoh, to bring sweeping change to all of Egypt, he had a track record of changing the spiritual climate in some very humbling and challenging circumstances. An important part of this dimension was his stewardship and the trust he engendered among those he served. His identity was clearly in God. Challenging the favor and trust as Potiphar's manager, Joseph experienced spiritual backlash in rejecting Potiphar's wife's unrighteous advances. Nevertheless, despite his lack of position in both Potiphar's house and as a prisoner in the jail, Joseph made a significant impact on the culture around him by what he derived from the presence of the Lord.

Isaiah's insight into Messiah being wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities is the truth that breaks cultural bondages that have held God's chosen captive. The cultural trap comes from transgressions and iniquities. This release is not only from the bondages preventing us from knowing Him, but in being released IN Him. It explains why Isaiah's first burden, the first priority from God's heart, following His encounter with the Lord in Isaiah 6 was in addressing the dullness of the hearing of the people.

Economy. The economic comes from God's nature to bring increase. For Joseph, everyone recognized that it was God that prospered whatever Joseph did. The prophetic wisdom from Joseph's dreams not only averted the impact of the coming famine, but was the creative impetus that put Egypt in the drivers-seat when the money failed and the grain they had stored became the only currency with value. In another instance of famine, Isaac encountered God's presence and drew on the wisdom and creativity of God and produced harvests when no else was able to grow anything.

One of the biggest hurdles today for those navigating Kingdom agendas is getting beyond the fund-raising mind-set and tapping God's unlimited creativity and resources. Without degrading the value of community generosity and the need to provide opportunity for others to participate in Kingdom agendas, there are limitations to the fund-raising model, of drawing from the well at the same source.

Among God's people, fundraising has been elevated to almost the status of a sacred cow, of being the catch-all solution. The story of Joseph gives evidence to how, through God, alliances can be created and resources generated that anticipate change and exceed the limitations and expectations of the world around it. It will be a critical component of the wealth transfer dynamic. There's a significant bridge to be crossed in our day designed to open the gates into these unlimited dimensions of God.

Power. The biblical stories of God's people, along with the teachings of Jesus are demonstrations of how righteous power overcomes in corrupt settings. Power is facilitated through leadership. From the beginning, God's people have been endued and anointed as leaders. As a people, the calling has been as a society of leaders. Leadership, in God, depends on the Isaiah response to Him. It operates by service, influence and by the anointing.

Whether for individuals or as a people of God, the release begins with our mind-sets, our way of thinking. The power and creativity from His unlimited glory begins when we change our thinking and begin renewing our minds.

The real power of God has no boundaries, yet every revival in history has gone through a process in which the unlimited dimensions are squelched over time through institutional and religious thinking. That was the reason for Jesus' sharp encounters with the blind institutional and religious thinking of the religious elite. The power of God is progressive and depends on the ongoing response to His presence and His voice.

Discerning the Spiritual Environment
In God, there are complexities to the spiritual environments around us that far exceed our human abilities to grasp. Yet, in God, we not only become aware of and sensitized to them, but gain the authority to subdue and bring change to these complexities, to the spiritual climate around us.

Joseph did. It began from the bottom up before he was entrusted to work from the top-down. It's why the bar is higher in God. It's why we have to abide and operate beyond ourselves. It's why truth, meekness and righteousness are so essential. It explains the "waiting on God" that so many modern-day Josephs have experienced. It underscores the importance of the prophetic in this process of preparing as a force for change.

Big Picture Prophetic
While all truth is parallel, not all truth is equal. Even within the prophetic, we need to bring the process full circle to where, like Joseph, Moses, David and Jesus, we get the big-picture. Paul said that we see in part. How true for most. Likewise, how true that so many tend to act when the picture is not complete. It bears on the need to abide.

Jesus said very clearly that to find true life, we have to give it up. We have to get beyond ourselves and our limited, staid ways of thinking and begin abiding sufficiently to start tapping the secret things, the strategic, secret things that are needed for this hour. Abiding takes humility.

In Exodus 15 Moses addressed the people, as a whole, with this truth. IF they would just listen and adhere to the voice of the Lord, it would take them beyond themselves to where none of those things plaguing the world around them would make a big difference to them. They'd be the game-changers, the force for change. It's the challenge that remains before us.

The whole earth is filled with His glory. When God's glory is at the core of things, creativity will be released by abiding in that secret place. When the abiding amasses, it will be what's needed to be the force for change for which the world is yearning.
"My heart overflows with a good theme, with verses addressed to the King. My tongue is the pen of a ready writer. You are fairer than the sons of men. Grace is poured upon your lips as God has blessed you forever. Gird up your sword O mighty one, in your majesty and splendor. Ride on victoriously, for the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness. Let your right hand teach you awesome things. Your arrows are sharp, the people fall under you. Your arrows are in the heart of the king's enemies."
Ps 45:1-5

PRAYING FOR YOU by Morris Ruddick

PRAYING FOR YOU

(c)  Morris Ruddick

In Memory of Our Grandson Isaiah Bird
April 1, 2004 - December 24, 2014

"Been praying for you."  How often do we hear, as well as voice these meaningful words? Praying for one another and depending on the prayers of others can be critical, with the substance behind these words deserving closer examination.

Several years ago, on an overseas mission, I recall a time when I entered into a situation with an outcome that only could be redeemed by God. Not even having the presence of mind to know what to pray for at the time, I found myself desperately crying out: "Lord, mobilize some intercessors to pray for me!" Within minutes, I had a calm descend upon me, with an awareness of being prayed for -- and the impossible situation was indeed redeemed.

At the other extreme, I recall a time when, at the urging of a friend in ministry, I spent some time praying with a brother who had hit a season of turbulence. I continued with follow-through for him in my own prayer closet. Some time passed without hearing from him. Then I got a note from him expressing annoyance at receiving a quarterly prayer letter from me. Despite the demands on his time, this man had taken far more time to express his displeasure in my asking for his prayers, than it would have taken to just shoot up a couple of covering prayers.

Even genuinely called intercessors can hit times when the pressures mount and priorities are not clear.

Yet, the reality is that there are times when confronted with spiritual challenges that extend beyond our own faith and prayers in which it is the prayers of others that become the deciding factor. It is the way the Body is supposed to operate. While not every believer is called as an intercessor, we are all called to intercede. For each of us, we have entered a time in which the words of the prophet Samuel should be a constant reminder: "God forbid, that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you."
1 Samuel 12:23

We each have vulnerabilities that can be compensated for -- by the prayers of others.  Peter Wagner wisely advises that those in ministry should have a prayer shield of those who pray for them. His model for a prayer shield includes a handful who serve as a frequent-contact inner circle; a second level of those with whom we are in regular contact, but not with the frequency or detail of the inner circle; and then a third and larger group who we only connect with periodically with a big-picture outlook of developments.

The Reciprocity Factor
Relationships that carry the expectation of people praying for you cannot extend very far, without operating in reciprocity.

Reciprocity is a mutual dependence, activity or influence. It is a cooperative exchange of effort or considerations between two parties, with each looking out for the other. It is a relational thing that in effect serves the common, but higher good. Reciprocity takes maturity and trust to operate. The trust for reciprocity stands on a maturity that is never afraid to risk supporting others and working cooperatively. It operates openly and both ways.

The apostle Paul expressed it this way in his letter to the Galatians:
"Bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ."

Reciprocity in intercession is a significant reflection of the Body operating maturely because of the way it facilitates the paving of new ground that neither party could have accomplished without the other.

Reciprocity will be a key factor as the Body faces a season marked by great turbulence and change. Reciprocity and the combined authority it evokes will have a unique bearing on advancing the Kingdom.

On the other hand, there is a need for wisdom as it relates to the manner in which we extend our availability. Wisdom is needed from the Spirit to avoid overcommitments or matters that would inadvertently distract or suck life from us.

God forbid that mature believers should ever fall short in extending reciprocity.  Operating as a giver of Life, rather than being a taker, was reflected in Paul's words that expressed both the cost and the supernatural impact tied to being Life-givers.
"That the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed-always carrying about in this body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body."
2 Corinthians 4:7-9

God forbid that our zeal for accomplishment in our own callings should blind or override our ability to have a balance in bearing the burdens of those within our sphere.

Judas was the epitome of one-way relationships that never quite grasps the reality of the higher good and approaches relationships as a means to their own end. In a word, Judas was a taker and not a giver. He didn't trust, because in his arrogance he knew he couldn't be trusted. He failed not only because his zeal blinded him to what God was doing, but also because he misused the authority of his position to do his thing independently. The Judas factor illustrates an immature purpose-driven zeal built on an outdated and distorted model.

"God forbid, that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you."

Levels of Intercession
Not unlike Dr. Wagner's model for prayer shields, our model for praying for others should encompass different response levels based on a mix and balance of the burden from the Lord and the relationship with the individual.

The most basic level would involve simply lifting the name of a person before God's throne of grace and asking for blessing and fulfillment in their lives. An intermediate-level response might suggest a more robust form of intercession as described in Ezekiel 22:30"I sought for a man among them who would make up the hedge and stand in the gap."

This involves discerning the gap or lack in the situation-and then praying in faith with the appropriate scriptures that seal off that gap. Then, the highest level of intercession is what old-time Pentecostals refer to as "praying through" or travailing in prayer until there is a release that affirms that the answer is at hand.

Holding the Rope
Within these levels of intercession is an illustration in Acts 9:25 of "holding the rope." This is the story of when the brethren saved Paul's life from the plots of his persecutors by letting him down the city wall in a basket at night. Those holding the rope of the basket being lowered, which held Paul, illustrate the role that our intercession plays in the lives of those in our sphere.

There will be times when there is only one or two whose spiritual alertness is such that the rope will even be held. Sadly, there are times in which the zeal, the preoccupations and the distractions can be such that there are none to hold the rope. This should not be so.

Again, our willing readiness to grab and then hang onto the rope will be determined by a mix between the burden from the Lord and the relationship with the individual. The degree to which we sacrifice for others in holding the rope or standing in the gap is a mark of spiritual maturity. However, the degree to which the Body is functioning in maturity by standing in the gap or holding the rope for those within their spheres, at each level, was spoken of in Paul's letter to the Ephesians.
"From whom the whole body, being fitted and held together ??by what every joint supplies, according to the ?proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself ??in love."  Ephesians 4:16

"Been praying for you!"

Core Prayer Issues
Abiding in God's Presence. Foremost at the core of praying for others is the reality of the time we spend in God's presence. That time is not designed as an exercise or an obligation. There should be a passion for His presence that turns us into firebrands who go around igniting revival. What we impart to others should be an overflow from that time spent with Him.
"That the excellence of the power may be of God and not us."  2 Corinthians 4:7

While we each need time alone with the Lord, our lives should simultaneously reflect an ongoing consciousness of His presence, a reciprocal flow of spiritual oneness. Jesus described this ongoing oneness with the relational dynamic He had with the Father:"The Son can do nothing of Himself, He can only do what He sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, the Son does also. For the Father loves the Son and shows Him all that He is doing." John 5:19, 20

This truth parallels what Jesus imparted about our "abiding" in Him.
"I am the vine and you are the branches, whoever abides in Me, and I in Him will bear much fruit. Apart from Me, you can do nothing. But if you abide in Me and my words abide in you, you will ask what you will and it will be given you." John 15:5-7

The closer we are to "abiding" when we pray, the closer we are to knowing WHAT to pray, in order to bring results in a given circumstance. THIS is spiritual reciprocity in action -- the dynamic designed to overflow into the way the Body as a whole functions. The Apostle James' decree that broke long-standing Jewish traditions for Gentile converts reflected this reciprocal abiding unity when he said, "it seems good to the Holy Spirit and to us."  Acts 15:28

Imparting the Presence of God. In John 15:13-15 Jesus outlines a level of reciprocity that marks seasoned, mature believers. It is the lifeblood for operating as instruments of God's purpose with results that defy what we consider as the natural order of things. It involves embracing and then extending the presence and friendship of God to those bound by the devil and the precepts of men.

Psalm 15 is a bedrock truth that outlines the parameters for operating in and extending the friendship and presence of God. It deals with some nitty-gritty issues, such as slander and reproach that are tied to how we should be responding to members of the household of faith. Yet, at its core pivots the truth of "walking in integrity, working righteousness and speaking truth in our heart."

For our time in the presence of the Lord to be real, approaching His presence has the requisite of speaking truth in our own hearts. That should not be confused with obsessive introspection. However, it is foundational to extending the love and grace of God. It also means that for us to be able to stand in the gap for others, without being spiritually pummeled as a result, we need to have a realistic appraisal of what is operating in our own hearts.

Operating in our Sphere of Authority. Each of us has a sphere of authority that is tied to our calling. The parameters of that sphere vary with each of us.  However, a realistic grasp of the individual scope of that sphere for the mature believer defines a very powerful arena when it comes to petitioning the Lord on behalf of others. Moses reasoned with the Lord following the Israelite's transgressions in the wilderness. Nehemiah petitioned the Lord on behalf of restoring Israel's dominion over Jerusalem.

Yet, beyond the boundaries of our individual spheres are thresholds that will require a combined authority to truly see the answers to our petitions manifest. It is why unity within the Body is so important to issues such as transformation and the miraculous.

While the importance of individual time in the presence of the Lord can never be diminished or sacrificed, there is special power in prayer that results from the meshing of anointings that reflects an overlap in the "authority spheres" of those praying together for common purposes.

The Spontaneity to Pray
When these core issues converge, there will come a spontaneity-for-prayer-and with that spontaneity, a new level of the Body functioning in maturity. Body maturity and the increase of the miraculous can be expected to go hand in hand. For the miraculous to become the mode rather than the exception is going to require a shift within the Body. While many within the Body do flow on this level, far, far too many are still guided by the precepts of men and operating according to their own strengths as described by 2 Corinthians 4:7. It is a path that falls short.

The shift is from the self-focused mind-set to mind-sets that are intent on imparting Life. Evelyn Roberts used to speak about bringing God into the "everydayness" of our lives. The gap in the dichotomy between the lives we live and the meetings we attend to get a mere touch of His presence should and can be bridged by entering the place in which His presence is ongoing.

Jesus gave a lot of focus to teaching on prayer. Transforming, miraculous prayer is an activity for every believer, rather than it being reserved for those who might be referred to as "the God squad." It was at the core of the vibrancy and spontaneity of the Jesus movement in the late 1960s and the 1970s.

Jesus modeled our priority for prayer and the importance of our time in God's presence by spending entire nights with the Father. However, at a time when everything that Jesus had come to do was converging and in the crucible, the forces working against our seizing the initiative in prayer is illustrated by Jesus' own inner circle falling asleep.

While at Gethsemane, Peter, James and John were simply unable to stay awake to keep watch and pray with Him-for even an hour. Yet, simultaneously, in that very hour, Jesus' own travail in prayer was of such a fervor, that the scripture (Luke 22:44) describes it as Jesus agonizing in prayer to the degree that His sweat was as great drops of blood falling to the ground.

The Apostle James outlined the dimensions of a range of needs and our prayer-response to them. He began with those who were afflicted or suffering evil by telling them simply, to go pray. So often when we're oppressed or depressed, we look for someone to do something for us. James simply said the answer is to get alone with the Lord-and to pray.

James went on to note, that if someone is sick, that it will require getting others involved-to pray over the one who is sick. When that occurs he tells us that the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick and the Lord will raise Him up. Then he adds something else. He says: "And if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven."

Then James gives the admonition to be open in our relationships by being real about our sins and shortcomings -- AND to pray for one another. This is the model for the type of spontaneous gathering together that happens when there is revival in the air. It is from that point, that he takes a jump to describing Elijah as having been a man with a nature no different from ours; yet who prayed fervently and saw remarkable things happen. So it should be with us today.

The scope of matters covered by James brings this conclusion to the issue of "been praying for you." Prayer needs to be ongoing. It needs to be spontaneous. We should each have what weapons' specialists call a hair-trigger to pray. A hair trigger is one that you barely touch and it goes off. It relates to bringing the Lord into the equation in each dimension of our lives. It should be the natural order of things.

When we hear the words "been praying for you," it should evoke a response of "well then, let me tell you what God has been doing!" When we share the words, "been praying for you," it should be a reflection of imparting Life and holding the rope until we can share in rejoicing about God's intervening goodness. Reciprocity is at the heart of both ends of the spectrum of prayer and intercession. The reciprocity from abiding in and extending God's presence will nurture Body maturity and fuel revival, the miraculous and societal transformation.

The apostle Peter sums it up with these words:
"As every man has received the gift, even so minister the same as good stewards of the manifold grace of God."  1 Peter 4:10

The Strategic Intercession Global Network (SIGN) is closing in on its twentieth year of operation. Some members of SIGN I know well. Some I recognize by your email address. Some have been a part of this ministry since its inception. I thank God for each and every one of you--and for the hearts which hunger for more of the Lord that respond in praying into issues so critical to this hour.

I also wanted to say that I've been praying for YOU--and wanted to thank each of you who have spent time in God's presence praying for us. What this ministry represents is clearly beyond the scope of my human abilities. My six marketplace books and the God's economy entrepreneurial program are an outgrowth of throne-room initiatives we have targeted over the last two decades through SIGN. God has been faithful and I am very grateful for your sustaining prayers.

May the effort represented by your prayers and these posts be as a sweet fragrance to the Lord, along with serving as a foundation and catalyst toward the goal described by Paul:
"In attaining to the oneness of the faith and the full knowledge of the Son of God, that we might arrive at mature manhood, the measure of the stature of the fullness and the completeness found in Him." Ephesians 4:13.
