“Cross the River” – Time To Act by Steve Martin

“Cross the River” – Time To Act
“Now when all the nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the Lord spoke to Joshua, saying, ” Take for yourselves twelve men from the people, one man from each tribe, and command them, saying, ‘Take up for yourselves twelve stones from here out of the middle of the Jordan, from the place where the priests’ feet are standing firm, and carry them over with you and lay them down in the lodging place where you will lodge tonight.'” Joshua 4:1-3, NASU
“Cross the river.” That is what I heard in my thoughts, but I knew Who spoke it.
He spoke those three words this morning, and so I will be looking for what river the Holy Spirit is directing me to cross.
I appreciate how the Lord speaks to us. For some, His Word of direction, encouragement, assignment, or inspiration may come from a Bible verse. This is a very good way of receiving, direct from His eternal, foundational Word. It is known as the “logos” of God.
Other times He will give us His Word through “rhema” – a spoken word from a prophetic message or, dare we think, something we might even hear through TV, video on the Internet, or heaven forbid, a Hollywood produced movie, and when heard we think, “Hmmm. There is something about that which I just heard.”
The Bible says He used a donkey (jack…), didn’t He? Why not one from Hollywood? (“Just sayin.” As they say here in the South. America.)
So, when I heard these words, “Cross the river” as a thought which came into my mind, I knew it was the voice of the Good Shepherd, as I have become accustomed to hearing. Ever so quiet at times.
As I personally thought of the three words more later, I believe it can be a physical crossing, a spiritual crossing, or both. Prophetic words many times are that way – having both natural and spiritual fulfillment when they come to pass.
What has He been speaking to you these days? Are you listening? Have you put yourself in a place to listen? Will you then act on what He tells you, or dismiss it as just random thoughts?
I encourage you to be looking, to be listening, to be acting on what the Living God of Israel is speaking. He may use thunder. He may use lightening, as He promised to give us signs in the heavens in these last days.
“But immediately following the trouble of those times, the sun will grow dark, the moon will stop shining, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers in heaven will be shaken.” Matthew 24:29, Complete Jewish Bible
He may use your young child to express a word of encouragement, or directive, most needed in your life this day. He is giving even dreams and visions to many as He promised to do.
As Peter declared in Acts 2:17-21, quoting from the Hebrew prophet Joel, “’And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, “That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath: blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord be saved.“ NKJV
It is time to act on that which you have been told by the Lord.
Ahava and shalom,

Hollywood Raises $60 Million to Support the IDF - Israel Today

Hollywood Raises $60 Million to Support the IDF

Monday, November 05, 2018 |  Israel Today Staff
It's kind of hard to continue claiming that Israel is isolated on the international stage when those at the heart of global entertainment are raising massive amounts of money to support the Israeli military.
Perhaps its a sign of the times, when support for the "Palestinian cause" is waning, that the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) raised more money than ever before at its annual Western Region Gala last week.
The Western Region Gala naturally encompasses Hollywood, where, despite its overtly liberal veneer, the Israeli military has many supporters.
This year's sold-out event welcomed more than 1,200 friends of the IDF, including prominent actors and singers like Ashton Kutcher, Pharrell Williams, Gerard Butler and Katharine McPhee. By the end of the evening, the FIDF had raised a whopping $60 million.
According to a press release by the organization, those funds will be used to "provide much-needed and well-deserved services such as academic scholarships to combat veterans, financial assistance for soldiers in-need, support for Lone Soldiers throughout their service and upon release, crucial aid for wounded veterans and the families of fallen soldiers, weeks of rest and recuperation for entire IDF units, as well as educational, cultural, and recreational facilities."

'Extra' Host Mario Lopez Reveals 'Unfortunate' Truth for Christians in Hollywood

It's no secret Christianity is a tough sell in Beverly Hills, and in a recent interview, popular E! News host Mario Lopez described that reality as "unfortunate."
"[Faith] is alive in me. It's not really as prevalent [in Hollywood] as I think it should be," Lopez told podcast host Lucas Miles in early June. "If you don't think necessarily the way the left does entirely—they don't embrace diverse thought, so it's unfortunate."
The beloved child actor went on to say he knows some people to whom faith holds an "important" place, adding, "It's just not as embraced as you think it would be."

These 3 Christ-Centered Films Prove God Gained Ground in Hollywood - ALEX MURASHKO/ASSIST NEWS

These 3 Christ-Centered Films Prove God Gained Ground in Hollywood

God's Not Dead: A Light in the Darkness is positioned, as was the case for the first movie in the series when it came out with two other God-centered films in the same year, to make it another season that the Bible gains major real estate in Hollywood.
I Can Only Imagine opened last weekend; Paul, Apostle of Christ opens this coming weekend; and God's Not Dead (3) opens Easter weekend.
"We saw this in 2014," said David A.R. White, God's Not Dead leading actor and Pure Flix Entertainment founding partner. "There were three faith-based movies that really hit it and that was with God's Not DeadHeaven is For Real and Son of God. All of a sudden, we had these movies come out, and it was 'the year of the Bible' as they called it. There was a trifecta so to speak."
White was at the Los Angeles premier of God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood Tuesday evening, just a couple days after the highly successful opening of I Can Only Imagine. The Roadside Attractions-Lionsgate's movie "crushed early box office forecasts with a surprisingly strong $17.1 million at 1,629 locations in North America," Variety reported.
"Obviously, we can only be thrilled for 'I Can Only Imagine,' the Erwins (co-directors), and Kevin Downes (producer)," White said.
When asked about what the current faith-based film trifecta and God's Not Dead coming so shortly after the box office smash means, White didn't attempt any red-carpet prophecy.
"Whether or not it happens again we really don't know. We don't control that," he said.
When asked the same question, I Can Only Imagine Producer Kevin Downes said it's a win-win situation for the faith-based film industry.
"I think it's a jolt of energy. At the end of the day, we all root for each other," Downes said. "The LA Times came out with an article recently 'wondering' if Christian films were in a slump, but guess what, God showed up, and the audience showed up, and the numbers are huge."
He added, "Whether it's my film or someone else's film, it's just energizing. We are alive and well. Jesus is alive and well, and it's a great time to be making films."

A Grandmother's Heartbroken Plea to Hollywood - CAROL MCLEOD CHARISMA NEWS

(Unsplash/Jeremy Yap)

A Spirit-Filled Grandmother's Heartbroken Plea to Hollywood

CAROL MCLEOD  CHARISMA NEWS
Dear Hollywood, the Entertainment Industry and Video Game Producers,
I am writing this letter to every producer and director in Hollywood. I am writing this letter to every writer, to every actor and to every actress.
I am writing this missive to TV show producers, to directors and to writers.
I am writing this plea to the gaming industry.
I am writing this humble but passionate request to the sponsors who pay for movies, television shows and games.
Please listen; please read; and please respond.
As a mother, as a grandmother, and as a woman who loves America deeply, my heart is broken by the shootings that happened last week in Parkland, Florida. 17 vibrant and hopeful people lost their lives when a gunman opened fire in their own high school. Teachers were gunned down. Scholars were assassinated. Future leaders were violently killed in America.
I know that this ugly problem is multi-faceted and that there are no "easy" answers; however, I do believe that there are answers that can prevent a mass shooting such as this from happening again.
I have to believe it. I must.
I happen to believe that the true answers America is searching for will never be found in a political candidate.
And believe me, America does need some answers. America desperately needs answers that will never come from an editorial, from Congress or from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Some of the answers to this very confusing and devastating problem are found in the solutions that the mental health community can offer and some can be discovered in the security that needs to be addressed in our public school system.
The breakdown of the family has contributed greatly to this horrific dilemma and then there are the politicians who should humbly but personally take responsibility as well.
Every congressman, every senator and every member of the president's White House staff should visit the grieving parents of these beloved children and hear their pain.
The answers are vast, the questions are numerous, and the blame enormous.
However, as the producers, directors, writers, actors and actresses who create movies—you are not without blame!
America has raised an entire generation of young people in a culture that has taught that when you have a problem, a gun will solve it.
Your movies have sent the message that if you don't like the hand you have been dealt in life, well then, just shoot somebody!
We have modeled by the scripts, by the themes and by the visual images of television series and of award-winning movies that violence is an acceptable and even applauded lifestyle.
Hollywood—stop it! Just stop it!
Take responsibility, all of you in the entertainment industry, and change your message.
Change your message before one more innocent young person is murdered.
Hollywood—directors, producers, actors, actresses, writers—when you look at your hands today, you may just see a drop of blood or two.
I am appealing to the mothers and fathers who are producers and directors in Hollywood. I ask you to never again make another movie that glorifies violence.
I am appealing to the mothers and to the fathers who are actors and actresses in the film industry and in the television industry. I implore you to refuse scripts that tout guns as the answer.
I am begging cameramen and camerawomen who love children to walk off the sets of violent movies.
I am beseeching screenwriters and television writers who have ever felt the sweet arms of a child around their necks to take every act of gratuitous violence out of every script and re-write it.
I am calling to the gaming industry and asking you to take responsibility. Lives are more valuable than money. Stop creating games that recreate violence.
I am adjuring the sponsors of movies, television shows and the gaming industry to stop the flow of money to visual images and themes of violence.
Stop it. Just stop it!
Nothing will change until we all change.
Will you change, Hollywood? Will you take personal responsibility and choose to send a message of hope and honor rather than embracing themes of violence and bloodshed?
Will you change, gaming industry? Will you choose virtue over vice and meaning over money? Will you?
Every producer who has ever produced a violent movie should attend the funeral of the well-loved Alyssa Alhadeff and the courageous Scott Beigel and the sweet Cara Loughran.
Every director who has ever included an assassination or a murder in a movie scene should humbly attend the funeral of the beloved Martin Duque Anguiano and the scholar and athlete Nicholas Dworet and the bubbly Gina Montalto.
Every writer who has written a script that sent a message that carnage is acceptable should attend the funeral of the basketball player Luke Hoyer, the heroic Aaron Feis and the positive and loving Joaquin Oliver.
Every cameraman and camerawoman who served as an accomplice to a crime splashed across a movie screen or a TV screen should attend the funeral of the beautiful Jaime Guttenberg or the brave Christopher Hixon.
Every member of the gaming industry who has made millions of dollars by promoting violence should attend the funeral of the compassionate Alaina Petty, the angelic Meadow Pollack or the friendly Helena Ramsey.
Every actor or actress who has ever appeared in a movie that glorified violence should attend the funeral of the musical Alexander Schachter, the brilliant Carmen Schentrup or the patriotic Peter Wang.
The pain that these families are bearing is inhuman and devastating. Let's save another family from ever enduring this pain again.
Hollywood—writers, directors, producers, actors, actresses, cameramen, camerawomen, gaming industry—how wonderful to know that you can change the world. You can choose the message you send to a vulnerable world.
I ask you with every cell in my broken heart to reevaluate your motivation and your message. Children's lives are at stake.
