It came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventhmonth, on the first of the month, that Moses spoke to the Children of Israel.

DEUTERONOMY (1:3)

Today's Israel Inspiration

We are now in the Hebrew month of Shevat - the "eleventh month" described in today's verse. On the first of Shevat, Moses began his final address to his beloved people - the Book of Deuteronomy. He taught and opened wellsprings of Torah knowledge for 37 days, until his death on the seventh of Adar. Our Sages say that those sparks of inspiration are forever embedded in this special month, making Shevat particularly suited for renewed commitment and fulfillment of God's word. Sheva is a beautiful month in the Land of Israel and now is your very last chance to see the beauty of Israel each day with our glorious 2016 Israel Calendar available.

"To Love the Lord with All of Your Soul"

The incredible story of an Israeli soldier who became a hero for infiltrating a yeshiva where a terrorist killed 8 young students. To identify himself to students hiding behind a locked door, they asked him to recite these words from the Torah.

Israel Behind the Lens: Photographer Captures Israel's Human Landscape [PHOTOS]

Israel Behind the Lens is a special series highlighting some of Israel’s top photographers. Today photographer Rebecca Kowalsky shares her most memorable photos captured in Israel in 2015 and the stories behind them.

Embossed Painting of the Four Holy Cities

This beautiful illumined depiction of the four holiest cities in Israel is the perfect ornament for your wall. From the northern city of Safed, to Tiveria on the coast of the Kineret, to Jerusalem in the midst of the Judean mountains and Hebron in the south, the changing landscape is related through the colors, beginning with greens and blues to the north and softening to pinks, purples, and golds to the south. Bordered by a verse in Genesis, this piece truly captures the wonder of the Land of Israel. Dimension: 32 cm x 39.4 cm (12.6″ x 15.5″)

Today's Israel Inspiration

During the Exodus, a ‘pillar of cloud’ protected the Children of Israel from the shooting arrows of the Egyptians in hot pursuit. Today we celebrate the mighty sacrifices and bravery of the soldiers of the IDF, shielding Israel from its enemies. May the God of Israel continue to protect His people through His pillar of defense like He did for us long ago!

These choices of poignant photos of soldiers invoke the memory of the warrior King David and his yearning for God. Either praying at the Western Wall, or standing in partnership with their religious fellows, these IDF soldiers are depicted encountering God in their everyday life. Good morning Rabbi Tuly, I am so honoured to be part of the Israeli people, even if it is only via “breaking” news. Israel and its people was always very near to my heart. Thank you for all the inspiring words and explanations. Greetings from Ansi in South Africa.
