"When God Calls, Go!"
Ché Ahn, Pasadena, CA

As we grow in knowing God, we grow in knowing His voice. Redeemed and covered by the Blood of Jesus, we have the gift of entering into the presence of our Creator who is faithful to speak to us, whether that be through the "still, small voice" (1 Kings 19:12) in our hearts, through Scripture, through a vision, or through other people He puts in our lives.

The question is: When we hear God's voice, will we obey?

Obedience can be challenging, especially to our flesh and to our earthly way of thinking, but it always brings a blessing. Through the example of "the father of our faith," Abraham (Romans 4:16), and through my own story of being called to the nations of China and India, I want to encourage you to pursue the presence of God, listen for His voice, and obey His leading.

When God calls you into something new, He will be with you every step of the way. He will fulfill His promises to you, and He will bless you abundantly!

Radical Call, Radical Obedience

"Now the Lord said to Abram, 'Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.' So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran." (Genesis 12:1-4)

When God called Abram to leave his home country to an unknown land, he had every reason not to go: Abram was settled in his home country with wealth and property; he was surrounded by family, and he was seventy-five years old, seemingly too old to make a major move much less start a new life.

But God made Abram this promise: "I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing." Abram may have been settled, but he had no sons or daughters, no one to receive his inheritance and carry on his legacy. But God promised him he would become a "great nation," and that from Abram—later "Abraham"—many would come, and that his name would be known.

So Abram went and faced numerous challenges along the way. He and his wife Sarai entered Egypt, facing hardship and trial there. They tried many years to conceive, unsuccessfully. They faced separation from their family. It would be many years before he would see the fulfillment of God's promise to him, but Abram remained obedient and faithful. In Genesis 15:6 it says, "Abram believed the LORD, and He credited it to him as righteousness."

Abram didn't need to understand how the promise would be fulfilled, but he believed that it would be.

In the end, Abram received the land, the son, and the generations of offspring promised to him.

"And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore." (Hebrews 11:12)

A Vision in the Sky

Not long after I became a Christian, in 1973, I felt the call of God to go to the nations. As a junior at the University of Maryland, I saw a cloud formation in the sky of a world map—but China and India were twice the size of every other continent. I asked the Lord in that moment what the vision meant, and He told me that I would impact every continent for His name's sake, but especially Asia.

My immediate interpretation was that I would drop out of college to become a missionary, but God had different plans. I didn't know how this promise would come to pass in my life, but decades later I am experiencing the fulfillment of God's call for me to "Go" in a way that has exceeded even my wildest hopes and expectations. Through Harvest International Ministry (HIM), I am able to make an impact by raising up leaders and building the Church across the nations, in particular China and India, to an extent I never would have been able to do in my own strength.

GO!

When God calls, go! The destiny He has planned for you is far greater than you may have ever imagined. I encourage you today to listen for His voice—I can assure you, He is speaking! Spend some time in His presence, meditate on His Word, and declare His promises over your life. When He speaks to you, move forward with His guidance. God may not be calling you to something that seems "safe," but His calling always comes with grace to walk it out, provision for the vision, and incredible blessing.

Restoration of Relationships (Part 1 of 2) - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Restoration of Relationships (Part 1 of 2)
Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“God grabbed me. God's Spirit took me up and sat me down in the middle of an open plain strewn with bones. He led me around and among them — a lot of bones! There were bones all over the plain — dry bones, bleached by the sun. He said to me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" I said, "Master God, only you know that." He said to me, "Prophesy over these bones: 'Dry bones, listen to the Message of God!'"

God, the Master, told the dry bones, "Watch this: I'm bringing the breath of life to you and you'll come to life. I'll attach sinews to you, put meat on your bones, cover you with skin, and breathe life into you. You'll come alive and you'll realize that I am God!" (Ezekiel 37:1-6, THE MESSAGE)

Yeshiva students in Hurve Synagogue
First of all, students of the Bible, including the men who attend yeshiva (Torah school) in Israel and beyond, know that these prophetic words, declared by the Hebrew Prophet Ezekiel around the 9th century B.C. (Before Christ) were telling of the return of the scattered Jews long before the first return from Babylon and the second return beginning in 1948. They had been scattered from Judea and Samaria back then during the time of the kings of Israel, would return once, and then be scattered again, but all over the world this second time.

Dry bones - Gustave Dore' painting
In 70 A.D. (Anno Domini – “In the year of our Lord”) the Almighty God of Israel again had the Jews dispersed (known as the Diaspora), using the vicious, destructive hand of the Romans. Of course, He foreknew of His Chosen Ones return. This second time of return is what we are seeing right before our eyes, in our lifetime, as Ezekiel’s prophecy is being fulfilled. The Jews, from all the nations, are being brought back. This is amazing, prophetically demonstrating the God of Israel’s glory and power, and bringing fulfillment of His promise made to the Jews.

In that 20th century year of Israel’s rebirth as a nation (though having actually begun 3000 years ago with King David establishing the Jewish capital of Jerusalem), David Ben Gurion declared Israel’s Independence for the state/nation of Israel on May 14, 1948.

It had long been a dream of the European Jew Theodore Herzl, to see the restoration of a Jewish homeland. Decades after his death in Europe, he is now honored in the Land, with his bones resting on Mt. Herzl in Jerusalem. For he pressed long and hard for the Jews to have a land once again for their homeland. We all know now that that dream was fulfilled in the Land of Israel, Eretz Yisrael (Hebrew). This is long regarded as historical truth - Israel is for the Jews as their Promised Land.

The bleached, completely dried bones so prophesied are coming back together. The Jews are making aliyah (the immigration of Jews from the Diaspora to the Land) by returning to Israel by the thousands, and soon to be millions.

Which brings me to this next major inspiration. As it is with Israel, being first in the natural, with dry bones coming back together, so it is being for the Body of Christ (believing Jews and Gentiles together, the olive tree and grafted-in branches, the One New Man), now seeing restoration in the spiritual.

“However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual.” (1 Corinthians 15:46,
NASU)

The Jews have returned to their homeland.
As we watch the ongoing, unfolding prophetic fulfillment of the Jewish dry bones coming back together in Israel, at the same time are seeing the restoration of Christians in bonding fellowship and unity, as our formerly “dry bones of the scattered Church of Jesus Christ” are starting to come back together, as it was in the days of the early church.

My good wife Laurie and I can give a practical life testimony of this coming back together ourselves. Four years ago as of this writing in 2018, we left a good body of believers, Antioch International Church in Fort Mill, South Carolina, USA, under the leadership of Dr. Peter Wyns and Pastors Jesse and Elizabeth Enns. We were “dispersed” (of our own making), wandering around as if Jews ourselves, going from church to church. (As for “Jewishness” - maybe we are and don’t know it, as truly many are finding out of their Jewish ancestry and DNA in these days!)

Fort Mill, SC. Pastors Peter Wyns, Jesse & Liz Enns
After both Laurie and I, independently of each other, heard the Holy Spirit speak to us of the “return” to Antioch, we once again are back in full relationship, joint to joint, walking arm and arm, being planted in committed bonds of love with these, our friends and co-workers in the Lord’s Body. (And as of October 1, 2018, I was joined to the church staff team!)

Maybe you or some of your family members have been “out there”, just wandering around, or even quitting altogether, from being in life-giving joints. Your dry bones have become pretty dry.

If I was a betting man (thank God I am not), I would give all I have to see you and the so many others come back, get joined once again, and experience the joy of His restoration of relationships. He will breathe life back into your bones!

The Good Lord knows we all need Him and each other in these end times!

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

Every tear. Every heartache. Every wrong committed against you. He was there. He still is.

Every tear. Every heartache.
Every wrong committed against you.
He was there. He still is.

The times when you felt alone, and no one was there to comfort you. Please remember that Jesus was there for you.

Remember when it was dark in your bedroom at night, as you lay trying to be really quiet, but hearing sounds kept you awake, making you a bit frightened. Jesus was there.

If you experienced sexual abuse as a child, at the hands of a "loved one" - someone in your home that was supposed to be the one caring for you, nurturing you, raising you the right way. But hurt you badly. You were not alone. Jesus was there.

Lost in the woods. Lost in the parking lot. Left alone in the huge store, scared that your parents had left you. You know what? Jesus was there.

You didn't know it then. You may not believe it now. But it is true, and He wants to reveal Himself to you.

Jesus is the One you really long for. Jesus is the One who can really comfort you, wrap His big arms around you. Let you know that He will always be with you and never forsake you.

Many times we don't sense His presence, or hear His voice, but you can be certain, deep in your troubled heart, that you are really, sincerely, absolutely, certainly loved.

"Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7

Jesus loves you. Ask Him now to show you that He is real. He will.

Joel C. Rosenberg: First-Ever Delegation Of Evangelical Leaders Visits United Arab Emirates. We thanked Crown Prince for his protection of freedom of worship for churches.

New post on Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog

First-Ever Delegation Of Evangelical Leaders Visits United Arab Emirates. We thanked Crown Prince for his protection of freedom of worship for churches and for his moral clarity in countering violent extremism. Here’s an update.

by joelcrosenberg
Greetings from Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. I'm here leading a Delegation of Evangelical Christians leaders on a four-day study mission to meet with senior government officials and religious leaders.
It has been an fascinating trip already, and part of a series of Delegations I've been leading to meet with Arab Muslim leaders throughout the region, including with President el-Sisi in Egypt and King Abdullah II in JordanI'll have much more to share in the days ahead, including links to press coverage of the trip. But for now, here is the press release our group has issued.
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates, Oct. 30, 2018 – His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, hosted and welcomed to his home a delegation of American Evangelical Christian leaders. The group, led by Joel C. Rosenberg, had four days of open dialogue and discussion with senior government officials and religious leaders, both Muslim and Christian.
The Crown Prince invited the group to come to the Emirates to see the country’s extraordinary economic and social innovation; learn about their emphasis on tolerance, inclusion and moderation, and protection of freedom to worship; and openly discuss the most urgent and sensitive issues of the day, such as the threats posed by Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood and the prospects for regional peace.
Sheikh Mohamed was born in a hospital started and run by Evangelical medical missionaries in the Gulf, which is still operated by Christians, without regard for patients’ faith or background, after more than 60 years. As a result, the UAE is a more tolerant nation, where Evangelicals — and all Christians — are allowed to worship freely.
“We were deeply encouraged to learn that there are 42 Christian worship centers operating freely and openly,” said Rosenberg. “Some of these buildings are big enough to be used by dozens of church congregations — altogether more than 700 Christian churches and ministries operate here, which is both unique and remarkable in the Gulf region. This could be a model for other nations in the region to follow.”
UAE-GroupwithDrNuaimi
The delegation began the more than two-hour discussion, originally scheduled for 30-minutes, by thanking the Crown Prince for his protection of freedom of worship for minority faiths in his majority Muslim nation; his strong alliance with the United States and moral clarity in countering violent extremism; and leadership to foster economic innovation, prosperity and security in his nation and the region.
Rosenberg noted that the group’s purpose in coming was to build relational bridges of friendship and thanked the Sheikh Mohamed for all he is doing to carry on the work started by his late father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “Father of the Nation” and the first President of the UAE.
Rev. Johnnie Moore noted that Muslims and Evangelicals in the Middle East have more in common in terms of values and priorities than is often realized. “But I think that actually, we are the best allies and are becoming the best of friends,” he said.
“We are living in a rare moment, a window of opportunity for leaders of goodwill – Muslims, Jews and Christians – to actually achieve the peace for which we have only hoped and prayed until now – including peace between Arabs and Israel,” said Michele Bachmann, former Member of the U.S. Congress who served on the U.S. House Finance and Intelligence committees.
During the visit, the delegation also met with His Highness Abdullah bin Zayed, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and brother to the Crown Prince; His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Tolerance; and officials from the Sawab Center, a joint initiative between the governments of the UAE and U.S. in support of the Global Coalition against ISIS.
“The UAE is aggressively working to combat extremism in the Middle East and beyond. Their leadership is encouraging,” said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council.
UAE-Joel-mosque-small
The group also met with His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Tolerance. “It is important that we go beyond mere tolerance, to understand, believe in and live with one another,” he said.
Members of the delegation hosted by Rosenberg include former U.S. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann; Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council and Rev. Johnnie Moore, founder of The Kairos Company – both of whom serve as Commissioners with the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom; Larry Ross, founder of A. Larry Ross Communications in Texas; Dr. Mike Evans, founder of the Jerusalem Prayer Team; Dr. Jerry Johnson, president and CEO of National Religious Broadcasters (NRB); Michael D. Little, former president and CEO of The Christian Broadcasting Network; Ms. Kay Arthur, renowned Bible teacher and founder of Precepts Ministries International; and Pastor Skip Heitzig, senior pastor of Calvary Albuquerque in New Mexico; and Wayne Pederson, former president and CEO of the NRB and former president of Reach Beyond radio ministry.
