This week's Bible portion, Shelach, comes from the Book of Numbers. The book is entitled numbers as it opens with a census of the Children of Israel in preparation to enter the Landof Israel. At the same time, they are preparing spiritually for their life as a nation, following the laws of the Torah in their ancestral homeland. The lessons of the Bible are as relevant today as ever before. When studying Numbers, we must learn the lessons of the Children of Israel in the wilderness in order to constantly re-evaluate our own relationship with the Land of Israel.
