Temple Mount Sifting Project Unveils Artifacts from Time of David - CBN News Chris Mitchell

Temple Mount Sifting Project Unveils Artifacts from Time of David
06-07-2019
CBN News Chris Mitchell
JERUSALEM, Israel – Jerusalem’s Temple Mount has never been excavated, at least publicly.
However, an illegal construction project twenty years ago led to discoveries about its ancient past.
In 1999, the Islamic group responsible for the Temple Mount began construction on a large underground mosque.  They broke a law prohibiting unauthorized construction, and during the project dumped tons of debris into the Kidron Valley.
Israeli archaeologists began sifting through the debris in 2005 in hopes of finding artifacts that point back to the Jewish temple that once stood in Jerusalem.
Over the years, The Temple Mount Sifting Project has uncovered a treasure trove of artifacts.
“The Temple Mount Sifting Project is an archeological adventure whose purpose is to find the empirical proof of what was on the Temple Mount thousands of years ago,” Shlomo Zwickler from American Friends of Beit Orot told CBN News.
Throughout its history, more than a quarter of a million volunteers have worked on the sifting project making it the largest archeological project in history.
Since its beginning, the project has uncovered enormous archeological evidence.
“We have until now, approximately a half a million finds … the vast majority of the material is from the first temple period and on, starting in the 10th century B.C., which is the time of David and Solomon.  And that goes hand in hand with the biblical account,” the project’s director Gabi Barkay said.
While the sifting project began years ago, a new phase is just beginning.
“Fifty-two years ago right here on this hallowed ground that we’re standing on right now that one of the decisive battles of the six day war took place,” he told CBN News.  In fact, it was the battle just before the command was given to descend the Mount of Olives, cross the Kidron Valley and ascend the Temple Mount … for the first time in two thousand years."
Some believe the evidence from the project validates the Jewish claim and connection to the city of Jerusalem.
“It’s very simple.  There’s no project that (shows) his better than this one. It proves that everything that we said about it and dreamt about it and prayed about it is true,” said Zvi Koenigsberg
“And we know where we came from of course based on our faith, of course on our heritage but also based on the empirical evidence that we find based on where we were,” explained Zwickler.
Barkay says the importance of the Temple Mount to the Jewish people and to the world is profound.
“First of all, the Temple Mount is the soul, heart and spirit of the Jewish people.  It is mentioned and indicated more than twenty times in the New Testament.  It is a focal point in the ministry of Jesus.  And it should be one of the cornerstones of western civilization … it is also the archeological site number one in the country.  And probably one of the most important archeological sites of the world.”
Now they're sending out an open invitation for more to come.
“This sifting project is really going to be a major thing for people from around the world to put their hands into and work through soil that came in from the temple itself from some point in its history,” said Stephen Pfann of The University of the Holy Land.
Zwickler invites people everywhere to “come sift the dirt from two thousand years ago.  Come be part of history.  What was and also what will be.”

Jewish Protesters Assault Messianic Believers, Christians: 'Some Were Cut in the Face' - CBN News Chris Mitchell, Julie Stahl

Jewish Protesters Assault Messianic Believers, Christians: 'Some Were Cut in the Face'
06-05-2019
CBN News Chris Mitchell, Julie Stahl
JERUSALEM, Israel - Dozens of Jewish protestors recently attacked Messianic believers headed to a Hebrew worship concert in Jerusalem. It’s the latest example of the hostility of certain orthodox Jews against the Messianic community.

Inside the King of Kings congregation, an audience listened to a concert of Hebrew worship songs, written by Israelis.

But outside, something else was going on.

“Thirty to 40 religious men had gathered and they started harassing our people as they were trying to enter into worship – blowing whistles, trying to drown out the sound of worship and that alerted the first wave of the SWAT team and the police that came out,” said Chad Holland, Senior Pastor of King of Kings Community Jerusalem (KKCJ).

The Messianic Jewish Alliance of Israel held the concert at KKCJ’s facility – one of the largest congregations in Jerusalem for Christians and Messianic Jews.
Holland told CBN News a mob of protestors outside the facility’s lobby attacked men, women, and children trying to attend the concert.

“They started by screaming, pushing. Several people were hit; some were cut in the face.  They broke glass. They damaged property. They were kicking. They were hitting. They were cornering people. They pushed several up against the wall. They pushed down several women as well. They threw water bottles. They spit on a lot of people and in the end, they started spraying pepper spray,” Holland said.

Some of the protestors held a sign from the far-right fringe group Lehava that opposes contact with non-Jews and opposes a Christian presence in Israel.
According to Holland, the police had a hard time gaining control of the protestors.

“They overran the first wave of the SWAT team. They ended up leaving. Then a second wave of regular level police came with a captain and the mob scene overran them as well with numbers and it took several hours before the police could rally enough of the SWAT team in full armor and helmets and the face shields,” Holland said.

While evangelical and other Christians are welcomed as friends by most Israeli sectors, Messianics – Jews who believe Jesus is the Messiah – are sometimes shunned.

“Even though we tried to reason with them and to discuss, hey why are you guys so angry, they said that we were traitors, that the Messianic believers were traitors,” he said.
“They chanted several times that we worship three gods. Now, of course, if you know anything about the Messianic theology, we believe in One God. And we tried to reason with them to explain to them that they had a misunderstanding. They, later on, didn’t take too kindly to that explanation. They began to chant that we were Nazis at that point,” he added.

Holland said they’d welcome the opportunity to explain who they are and what they believe to the protestors.

"We’re certainly not the enemies of anyone worshipping God but that we are believers in Yeshua,” Holland explained.
“We serve one God and we believe in the Bible. We’d love to sit down and talk with them if they would ever have us. We thank the police again and we covet the prayers of all the believers around the world,” he said.

Holland said, in the end, the protestors didn’t win because the concert went on as planned.

Franklin Graham Asks All Christians to Pray President Trump Today: 'Because We Need God's Help' - CBN News Jenna Browder

Franklin Graham Asks All Christians to Pray for President Trump Today: 'Because We Need God's Help'
05-31-2019
CBN News Jenna Browder
WASHINGTON – Franklin Graham is calling on Christians nationwide to pray for President Trump today.  The evangelist told CBN’s Faith Nation it’s not a political endorsement, but simply an opportunity to heed the Bible’s instruction and pray for the nation’s elected leader.
“This is not a political endorsement,” Graham said. “It’s just simply praying for the President. The Bible instructs us to pray for those who are in authority.”
Graham also dismissed critics who accuse him of weaponizing prayer, saying “prayer is a weapon.”
“We can go straight to the throne of grace,” he explained. “God hears prayer and answers prayer.”
Graham said "no president has been attacked" more than Trump and that "the only hope for him, and this nation is God."
"He's our President and if he succeeds we all benefit but if his enemies are allowed to destroy him and pull down the presidency it will hurt our entire nation," the evangelist said.
Graham's Prayer
In a short four-minute video posted to his Facebook page today, Graham thanked his followers for joining him to pray for President Donald J. Trump. He also explained how the Lord laid the idea on his heart and quoted the scripture from Psalm 9:9-10 which reads: “The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You."
"This isn't politics. This isn't an endorsement. It's praying for our commander-in-chief," Graham explains in the video. "He is the President of the United States and he needs our prayers. And God instructs us to do that."
The evangelist then invites the user to pray with him and then pray their own prayer "because we need God's help."
"Our Heavenly Father, You tell us in your word, the scripture, the Bible that we're to pray for those in authority. And that's why we're coming to you today," Graham prayed. "We ask for your favor on the President of the United States Donald J. Trump."
"Father, we would ask that you lead and guide the President as he makes decisions that affect not only all Americans but freedom loving people around the world," he continued. "Father, we just ask that you give him wisdom. Wisdom from you. Wisdom to deal with the problems we have at the border.  Wisdom to deal with the trading issues, trading partners, other nations. Wisdom as he meets with world leaders."
"This weekend he goes to London to meet with Her Majesty the Queen, Theresa May, their prime minister and the leadership of that nation, our closest ally," Graham said. "We ask that you guide each and every step that he takes."
"Father, we would also ask that you protect him from his enemies. Give him health and give him strength," he implored. "Today, I pray for the President's family, especially his wife Melania and his son Baron."
"Father, we're all flawed human beings. We're guilty of sin. We've all failed. We thank you that you sent your son Jesus Christ from heaven to this earth to take our sins upon the cross," Graham continued. "That he died and shed his blood for each and every one of us and that you raised him to life. And Father, we know that you will come into each and every heart who's willing to turn from their sins and put their faith and trust in your son Jesus Christ.  So we thank you for that."
"And Father, we pray for our nation. And Father, we ask that you would heal the heart of this country and that people would look to you for guidance and direction each and every day," he prayed. "And Father, we pray this in the name of your son Jesus Christ. May your will be done. Amen."
After concluding his prayer, Graham thanks the user for joining him and reminds everyone to continue to pray for the President and for those in authority -- all of them.
"They need our prayers. Only God can change the human heart," Graham said. "You can pass all the legislation. You can pass all the laws that you want, but only God can change the human heart. Our hearts need God in this country. And my prayer for the President today is that God would guide him and direct him -- but may he direct our country and may his will be done."
Kevin Jessip, chairman of the grassroots movement "Save The Persecuted Christians," is one of the 250 leaders who signed the proclamation asking all Christians to pray.
"I was really obliged & thankful for Franklin's stepping out on this issue so we joined," he told CBN News
"I believe that the Word of God will be lifted up in this nation and that's what we need," he added. "We need the national dialogue to include the word of God."
250 Christian leaders have signed the statement of faith for June 2, which reads:
"We the undersigned are calling for June 2 to be a special Day of Prayer for the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, that God would protect, strengthen, embolden, and direct him.
"We believe our nation is at a crossroads, at a dangerous precipice. The only one who can fix our country's problems is God Himself, and we pray that God will bless our president and our nation for His glory."

'Pray For Us All!' Storm Damage Makes Midwest Look 'Like Someone Dropped a Bomb in Our City' - CBN News

'Pray For Us All!' Storm Damage Makes Midwest Look 'Like Someone
Dropped a Bomb in Our City'

05-30-2019
More tornadoes struck the Midwest Wednesday, at least two twisters touching down in northern Texas, damaging homes and injuring at least one person.
One resident says the storm saying it felt like it was actually suctioning them up.
Storm survivor Linda Myers said, "I saw the door moving and I had a hold of her arm and I was like, 'Lord please don't suck her out', because for a minute it was just so strong, it was like going in and out. But thankfully the door didn't open and we were all good in the hall."
The Texas twisters were bad, but not as massive as the mile-wide, EF-4 tornado with top winds of 170 miles an hour that churned up cities and towns west of Kansas City.
With more than 500 tornadoes reported in the last 30 days, May is now the most active month of tornadoes since 2011.
Meanwhile, rivers in Oklahoma and Arkansas are overflowing their banks. Tulsa's mayor calls it the worst flooding in the state's history, telling residents near levees to "relocate."
Eight states along the Mississippi River are seeing the longest lasting floods in 90 years. The continuous rains make this the worst flood season since 1927.
Meanwhile, CBN's Operation Blessing is on the ground in the Dayton, Ohio area where 13 tornadoes were recorded Monday night.
The Operation Blessing crew reports, "We drove past houses where the roofs were ripped off and debris was strewn across the road, and came to a stop in front of something that let me know we were exactly where we were supposed to be. There was a sign – a piece of mangled tin ripped off someone's roof, cast among a pile of shattered tree branches – with these words scrawled across the surface in purple and blue marker: Pray For Us All!"
You can help meet the needs of these tornado victims - click here to help Operation Blessing.
Operation Blessing has connected with Dayton Vineyard Church which will be used as a relief facility.
"It looks like someone dropped a bomb in our city," the church's Worship Pastor Drew Pinson told Operation Blessing.
"There was a specific neighborhood we drove through," Drew continued, "and I just started crying. I thought to myself, 'This is my city.' Just a few moments later, we braced ourselves to enter what many at Dayton Vineyard Church described as a 'war zone'."
Operation Blessing teams are assessing damage and setting up a base of operations for volunteers to help clean-up debris. Water is a huge need in the area.
OB's US Disaster Response, along with the Hunger Strike Force, is bringing a truckload of water, disaster relief kits, hygiene items and pre-packaged meals. Their mobile command center is also on its way, along with trucks carrying suplies and tools for volunteers.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg Clashes with Clarence Thomas: A Woman Seeking Abortion 'Is Not a Mother' - CBN News Jones

Ruth Bader Ginsburg Clashes with Clarence Thomas: A Woman Seeking Abortion 'Is Not a Mother'
05-29-2019
US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg went head-to-head against fellow Justice Clarence Thomas over the issue of abortion in an opinion released Tuesday.
The high court upheld an Indiana law that requires aborted babies be buried or cremated after the deadly procedure. However, the court refused to hear an appeal after a judge blocked part of the law that makes it illegal for abortion providers to abort babies solely because of the child's race, sex, genetic disability, or any "unwanted characteristics."
Justice Thomas argued that allowing abortion providers to decide "whether the child will live or die" solely because of immutable characteristics is a slippery slope to permitting eugenics in America.
"This case highlights the fact that abortion is an act rife with the potential for eugenic manipulation. From the beginning, birth control and abortion were promoted as means of effectuating eugenics. Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger was particularly open about the fact that birth control could be used for eugenic purposes," Thomas wrote
"These arguments about the eugenic potential for birth control apply with even greater force to abortion, which can be used to target specific children with unwanted characteristics," he continued.
On the other side, Ginsburg wrote a dissent, voicing her disapproval of Thomas' decision to call pregnant women "mothers."
"(A) woman who exercises her constitutionally protected right to terminate a pregnancy is not a 'mother'," she wrote in response to Thomas' comments.
Ginsburg also disagreed with the court's decision to hear Indiana's aborted-baby disposal law, saying it was a "waste" of the court's resources. Ginsberg said Indiana's regulation of how the dead bodies of aborted children are disposed of might impose an "undue burden" on the mother's right to abortion.
Thomas attacked Ginsberg's "undue burden" argument in a footnote.
"This argument is difficult to understand, to say the least—which may explain why even respondent Planned Parenthood did not make it. The argument also lacks evidentiary support," he wrote.
Vice President Mike Pence signed the Indiana law when he was governor of the state.
The court's decision comes at a time when numerous states are pushing pro-life legislation with the hopes of one day challenging Roe v. Wade in the US Supreme Court.

Franklin Graham Asks Christians Nationwide to Pray for President Trump June 2 - CBN News Steve Warren

Franklin Graham Asks Christians Nationwide to Pray for President Trump June 2
05-26-2019
CBN News Steve Warren
Evangelist Franklin Graham sent an email and posted a Facebook message to his social media followers over the weekend, asking them to pray for President Donald Trump on June 2.
In his Facebook post, Graham wrote:  "Along with 250+ Christian leaders, I am asking followers of Christ across our nation to set aside next Sunday, June 2, as a special day of prayer for the President, Donald J. Trump. President Trump's enemies continue to try everything to destroy him, his family, and the presidency. In the history of our country, no president has been attacked as he has. I believe the only hope for him, and this nation, is God.
This is a critical time for America. We're on the edge of a precipice," Graham continued. "Time is short. We need to pray for God to intervene. We need to ask God to protect, strengthen, encourage, and guide the President. We know that God hears and answers prayer. He can soften hearts and change minds. He is all-powerful, and He rules over the affairs of nations. The Bible instructs us to pray for those in authority, 'that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior' (1 Timothy 2:2–3)."
Graham, the president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, is asking all Christians across the nation to set aside Sunday, June 2 as a special day of prayer.
"On June 2, we ask that pastors would lead their congregations in praying for the President, that Sunday schools and other groups would join together and pray, and that individuals and families across the country would have a special focus on praying for the President that day," he wrote.

Graham also asked his followers to indicate their commitment to pray.
"Would you let me know in the comments below if you commit to pray with us? And will you share this on your social media platforms so that we can have as many people as possible praying?" the evangelist wrote.
Graham ended his Facebook post and email with a quote from the Apostle Paul:
"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 6:12).
250 Christian leaders have signed the statement of faith for June 2, which reads:
"We the undersigned are calling for June 2 to be a special Day of Prayer for the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, that God would protect, strengthen, embolden, and direct him.

Mark Levin: Trump a 'Victim of Activist Media, Most Persecuted President in My Lifetime' - CBN News David Brody

Mark Levin: Trump a 'Victim of Activist Media, Most Persecuted President in My Lifetime'
05-24-2019
CBN News David Brody
Mark Levin, the author of America's number one best-selling book, Unfreedom of the Press, tells CBN News that Donald Trump is the most persecuted president in his lifetime and a victim of the liberal media's quest to destroy him.

"Trump is a vocal opponent of what the press is doing," Levin told me during a one-on-one interview at his television studio. "Trump is a unique and peculiar victim of what the press is doing. The press laughed off this man. The press thought he didn't have a chance. The press threw in with the Democrat Party and the Republican Establishment to try and stop him …I think the press wanted a third Obama term," he said.

Levin, who hosts both wildly successful radio and television shows, says despite the media's best attempts to take down the president, Trump has triumphed. "Donald Trump was running against the Democrat Party, the Republican Establishment and the press and they all lost and they're all angry," Levin says. "I think the press wants to show that they don't get to lose because it's an unfree press."

Unfreedom of the Press takes an in-depth constitutional and historical look at what the origins of the free press were supposed to be compared to what they've turned into.
"The mass media today is destroying freedom of the press. Not the government, not the president, the mass media…they've abandoned seeking objective truth. Nobody is perfect in seeking objective truth but you'll be more perfect if you give it a try now and then," says Levin. "We have journalists who are social activists, democrats, progressives who are pushing their agendas. That is destructive. That is not news."

Levin says all you need to do is look at how the media has been pushing the non-story of how the Trump campaign supposedly colluded and conspired with the Russians in the 2016 election. "They've spent his entire presidency, and even before his presidency, trying to destroy his reputation and his character, his family, his business."

Levin says the story the media has no desire to cover is the one that is actually news. "You have police state activity going on, the greatest interference in the last election was by the Obama administration," Levin says. "The Russians are our enemy and they're going to interfere in our election and we need to fight that but we have a problem from within. I would argue it's a Fifth Column. When you have the head of the FBI, the Justice Department, the intelligence agencies under Obama and the media trying to take out a candidate using the police powers of the state and now trying to take out a president in what I call a silent coup, that's the news! That's a big deal. But when the news throws in with that activity, that's a big deal too and the American People need to understand that's why they are never going to apologize. They're the problem."

When asked if Donald Trump is the most persecuted president ever, Levin responds, "Certainly in my lifetime. They went after Nixon pretty hard but the truth is Trump hasn't done anything."

A full interview with Levin about Unfreedom of the Press will air the first week of June on The 700 Club.
