Wellspring of Authority

By Morris Ruddick on Feb 28, 2019

From the beginning, Christians have had a tendency to be spiritually blindsided. Of notable consequence has been majoring in minors, while minoring in the essentials.
In addressing this issue, Paul insightfully encouraged applying an essential foundation: to bear one another’s burdens.

Applied as it should, this foundation nurtures the wellspring of authority […]

Christians are experiencing an historic new season of hope, security and freedom in the Mideast. The media are largely ignoring it, but I explain in detail in this new column in The Jerusalem Post.

(Jerusalem, Israel) -- The media are largely missing a fascinating and historic trend in the Epicenter, but it’s worth taking a closer look.
Here's my new column in The Jerusalem Post.
Something hopeful is happening in the Middle East. As 2019 begins, Christians in the region are experiencing the most encouraging season of personal security, religious freedom and peaceful coexistence with Muslims in living memory. The media are largely missing this historic development, but it’s worth taking a closer look.
Just a few years ago, the so-called Islamic State was waging genocide against Christians in Iraq and Syria and threatening to destabilize Jordan – a country with a historic Christian population – and “slaughter” King Abdullah II, whom they denounced as a “tyrant.”
In a 2016 cover story in Dabiq – their English-language propaganda magazine – ISIS leaders vowed to “Break the Cross” by annihilating Christianity in the region.
“Do you claim that... Christians follow the right religion and that they will enter the kingdom of heaven?” they asked. “There is no proof for this.... If you continue to disbelieve, then know that you shall be defeated and then dragged altogether into Hell as your eternal, wicked abode.... Allah has made our mission to wage war against disbelief until it ceases to exist, as he has ordered us to kill all pagans wherever they are found.”
In the resulting bloodbath, the number of Christians in Iraq plunged from about 1.5 million to between 200,000 and 300,000 today. Many were killed. Most fled the country. In Syria, the number of Christians has plummeted from 1.25 million to about 500,000 today.
But the genocide has been stopped. The US put together a stunningly successful coalition of nearly 80 countries to counter ISIS. True heroes have included the Kurds and the leaders of numerous Sunni Arab countries – among them Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain – all of which committed military forces not only to rescue Muslims and Yazidis but Christians, too.
The caliphate was destroyed. ISIS is not yet defeated, but it’s on the run. Most followers of Jesus in the region no longer face the threat of annihilation. And while Syria remains a mess, Iraq is calmer and Christians there are rebuilding their churches and their lives.
No Arab leader has done more to protect Christians than Jordan’s monarch, himself a direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad. He sent Jordanian forces into battle against ISIS, welcomed Christian and Muslim refugees fleeing from Syria and Iraq, and provided them with housing, food, medical care and schools.
Abdullah vigorously protects the right of Jordan’s 145,000 Christians to build and operate churches, teach the Scriptures, run tours of important Christian holy sites and operate an Evangelical seminary.
Soon after 9/11, the king established a national park on the east bank of the Jordan River to protect the archaeological remains of “Bethany beyond the Jordan,” the site where John the Baptist based his ministry, including baptizing Jesus. The king even granted permission for 13 Christian denominations to build their own churches there, conduct baptisms and teach the rich biblical history of the country.
For all this – and his extensive work encouraging interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence between Muslims, Christians and Jews – the king was awarded the prestigious 2018 Templeton Prize.
I have had the joy of getting to know His Majesty personally through a series of extensive meetings over the last several years, including bringing a delegation of American Evangelical leaders to meet with him in November 2017. I have witnessed the deep respect and affection Jordanian Christians have for him, and I can’t think of an Arab leader more deserving of this honor.
That said....

The Sick, Twisted Meaning Behind Halloween's Jack-O'-Lanterns - RON ALLEN CHARISMA NEWS

The Sick, Twisted Meaning Behind Halloween's Jack-O'-Lanterns

RON ALLEN  CHARISMA NEWS
The upcoming Halloween celebration dates back to the Druids, who used the holiday for various pagan religious practices including human sacrifice. There is nothing Christian about it.
Yet there is one interesting story about the Halloween celebration that illustrates how the pagans tried to appropriate the stars into their religions. It is the story of the jack-o'-lantern, that pumpkin with a face carved out and a candle inside. This seemingly benign decoration represents a much more gruesome picture from the rituals of past ages: A frightful severed head. And the picture comes straight from the Star Bible, even though the real meaning is very different.
The "jack-o-lantern" in the sky is the star Algol ("evil spirit"). It is part of the constellation Perseus, (the breaker), which is a picture of Christ who breaks open a way for us (Mic. 2:13) and breaks open the seals in Revelation 5. Algol pictures the severed evil head of the nations, the Antichrist, whose head is cut off from the nations when Christ returns (Rev. 19:20). So the frightful jack-o'-lantern is really a picture of the return and triumph of Christ.
The star Algol would have been near the zenith point on Halloween after midnight in druid times 3,000 years ago. Now it can be seen at zenith closer to 11:00 p.m. It is also an interesting object because it is a variable star decreasing in brightness about every 69 hours, with the nearest visible minimum at about 5:00 a.m. on Nov. 4.

During the first week of November the planet Venus appears in the morning sky after disappearing from the western sky into the sun on Oct. 26. The planet represents Christ, the Bright Morning Star (Rev. 22:16) and will be visible in the early morning during the minimum of Algol on Nov. 4.
So tonight find the Halloween star Algol and tell someone about the ultimate fate of Christ's enemies.

Why Christians Can't Afford to Be Ignorant of God's Prophetic Timeline Right Now - RABBI ERIC TOKAJER CHARISMA NEWS

(Unsplash/Kyle Ellefson)
We are entering a period, a season, that is of tremendous prophetic importance to the entire body of Messiah. Yet, many within the body of believers have little or no expectations that something significant is set to take place. This is largely because many followers of Yeshua (Jesus) have been blinded to this profound moment on G-D's timeline due to traditions established and handed down by those who came before us. The result of this blindness is that believers often miss out on the blessings and promises of G-D in their lives.
Those who believe in the writings of the New Testament are very familiar with what took place in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost. The Spirit of G-D was poured out on upon those in the upper room and the revival that followed that outpouring resulted in first 3000 and then 5000 people coming to faith in Yeshua as the Messiah of Israel. Yet, those same people that know the importance of the day of Pentecost regularly do little more than mention the date in passing as a part of their weekly announcements. After all, they might say, "It was the experience and not the date that was important and we celebrate the experience of Pentecost and the outpouring of the Spirit of G-D every week, right?"
But, what if it was both the experience and the date? What if there is a prophetic connection that was established when G-D created the world and as Genesis 1:14 says, He established the lights in the heavens to establish the appointed times? What if it is G-D's plan for believers to still spend the weeks between Passover and Pentecost counting the days and preparing for G-D to meet with us in a unique and supernatural way as He did on Mount Sinai and as He did in Jerusalem at the Temple? What would happen if we all took seriously G-D's instructions to pay attention to these times and seasons and prepared our hearts with expectancy?
I know that the above paragraph contains a lot of "what ifs," and some who are reading this may not see any of this as important, yet I hope and pray that by the end of the article, the importance will come into focus.
The reason that I bring up these "what ifs" is that this year is unique in that the calendars of Judaism and Christianity all are aligned. The Pharisaic calendar, the Sadducean Calendar and the Greco-Roman Calendar are all lined up so all three groups will be celebrating Pesach (Passover) and Shavuot (Pentecost) on the same days. This year the three divergent groups, which normally are in disagreement about when to celebrate and are observing these feasts of the L-RD on different days (sometimes as much as a month apart), are all going to be worshipping and celebrating on the same day.
With this in mind, and knowing that for the first time in many years everyone will be unified in celebration gathering together on May 20, 2018, I wonder what would happen if we all took seriously the concept of counting the days of preparation this year. What if we joined together as Messianic Jews and Christians in focused prayer for revival each day between Passover and Pentecost? What if we gathered together on Shavuot in unity with expectancy in our hearts, convinced that G-D in His infinite wisdom and planning knew that this year at this time we would all be in unity? What if we did this while knowing that the Scriptures teach us that when we are in unity, walls shake and chains break? I look forward to hearing the testimonies of miracles from those who will choose to step out of their comfort zones and traditions and joined together on this appointed time.
