Prophecy Fulfilled: Hundreds of Jewish Immigrants Come Home to Israel this Summer - CBN News Julie Stahl

Prophecy Fulfilled: Hundreds of Jewish Immigrants Come Home to Israel this Summer

CBN News Julie Stahl
TEL AVIV, Israel - Thousands of Jewish people from around the world are expected to immigrate to Israel this summer, fulfilling the words of the biblical prophets. CBN News was at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport when the first planeload of the summer arrived.
A big welcome party awaited two hundred new immigrants who arrived in Israel to make the Jewish State their home.
“I feel so happy and loved and I don’t know how to explain. It’s so crazy the people here waiting for us – the party, the music, the entire joy of this. It’s magic,” said Carolina Carolina Hidalgo, a new immigrant from Argentina.
“I’m always excited when I see new immigrants coming on Aliyah to Eretz Israel to the ancient homeland. I’m very moved by this because it encompasses three continents: Europe, Latin America and Asia,” said Isaac Herzog, Chairman of the Jewish Agency, the organization responsible for “Aliyah” or immigration to Israel.
“They’re all here in one big event, which epitomizes the great plight of the Jewish people in their return to their ancient homeland,” Herzog told CBN News as he waited to welcome the newcomers.
These are the first arrivals on special flights this summer.
“We’re working all over the world.  This year we’ll have 30,000 immigrants from 40 countries. It’s an incredible story,” Herzog said.
Among the newcomers are Brazilian and Argentinian singles who will study in an intensive Hebrew-language school called “ulpan” for several months.  Then they’ll look for jobs or continue with higher education.
“I’m an actress so I’m going to try to work with that. I’m also a makeup artist so I came with that idea,” Hidalgo told CBN News.
“Here I’m going to study Hebrew in Kibbutz Magan Michael and then I’ll be in the army for a year and a half.  And then like all Israelis, I will travel and then I’ll return to study music in Jerusalem,” said Octavio Moshe Peron, a new arrival from Argentina.
“First I want to really learn Hebrew, so I’m going to do Ulpan, very intensive right now, then I will start searching job as a scientist, in hi-tech,” said Ari Korenvais, another new immigrant from Argentina.
They came for different reasons.
“I came here because when I was little, I was living here with my family for a while, like four months and I fell in love with this country and the people and the culture so I always want to come back here and now I have the possibility, I came,” Hidalgo said.
“The economic situation is really great. OK neighborhood countries are not the best things but I don’t have to worry when I walk through the streets really here,” Korenvais said.
“I came to Israel because I’m a Zionist. I love Israel and I’m hoping to make it my home,” said Abraham Chevelen from Ohio.
Chevelen, who has been here for just one week, came back to the airport to welcome the newcomers.
“I learned some Hebrew back in America. Thankfully, I’m very good at languages. I speak Chinese fluently. I plan on doing business with China in Israel and if I can do Chinese I can hopefully do Hebrew, right?” he said.
Many would see the arrival of these new immigrants as the fulfillment of God’s Word when He said He would re-gather Israel and plant them in their land.

Mariano Rivera is arguably the greatest closer of all time, a recent Hall of Fame inductee, and an all-around family man.
Despite his Hall of Fame career, Rivera was the target of the Daily Beast’s latest hit piece, in which they attacked his conservative beliefs. According to the Daily Beast, if you are a Republican and a pro-Israel Christian, you must be a far-right extremist.
“He has traveled to Israel on multiple occasions, possibly beginning in 2013,” the author of the piece, Robert Silverman wrote.
On Wednesday morning, the Yankees legend appeared on Fox & Friends, where he defended both his religious and political beliefs.
Rivera said his faith is “No. 1” in his life and he doubled down on his support for President Trump and the state of Israel.
“Mr. President Trump, to me, he was a friend of mine before he became president,” Rivera shared with Fox & Friends. “So, because he’s president I will turn my back on him? No. I respect him. I respect what he does and I believe he’s doing the best for the United States of America.”
In the Daily Beast story, Silverman argued that even though he has never endorsed President Trump, “the Hall of Famer’s actions make it clear his sympathies lie with the Trump administration, which has backed all manner of far-right policies when it comes to Israel.”
Silverman further pointed out that Rivera has clearly aligned himself with the presidency due to the following: his nomination for the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition, visiting the White House with a group of school children from New Jersey and taking part in the delegation that was sent to the Special Olympics.
Silverman went on to call Rivera’s support for Israel as “far-right” ideology, arguing that his support for Israel, his travels to the Holy Land, and the Israel Defense Forces place him in that category.
“When it comes to Israel, as a Christian, if my Savior Jesus Christ, He’s a Jew, so how am I going to turn my back and say, ‘Oh, I won’t support Israel,'” Rivera told the hosts on Fox & Friends.
While on the show, host Brian Kilmeade also asked Rivera how he became the first MLB player to be unanimously voted into the hall of fame.
“That’s a good question. When we go to heaven to ask the Lord, ‘What happened?'” Rivera explained, “because I was just happy to be in the big leagues…Little did I know the Lord has a lot of things for me in my path.”
Rivera explained the early steps in his career that led to him becoming the closer for the New York Yankees in 1997, and how he actually struggled at first.
Fox and Friend’s co-host Ainsley Earhardt commended Rivera for his faith and asked how he came to know God.
“Well you know, adversaries,” Rivera said. “At age 24, my wife got sick, my boy sick too. She got chickenpox, while he was in her womb, for six months.”
“He was supposed to be born with this vertebra being open,” Rivera pointed to the back of his neck, “so his head would have been growing and growing to the point where he would die.”
He went on to share that his wife went to a Christian conference with a friend, where they prayed over her, and their son was healed.
In January, Rivera became the first player to appear on all 425 ballots in a Baseball Hall of Fame vote.
Rivera, who is a record-holding closing pitcher, has credited all his successes both on and off the field to God.
“It is because God, Christ, took those abilities and took it to a different level,” he said in an interview with CBN.

'This is Not Mythology': Archaeologists Dig Up the Bible at Ancient City of Shiloh - CBN News Chris Mitchell

'This is Not Mythology': Archaeologists Dig Up the Bible at Ancient City of Shiloh

JERUSALEM, Israel – Driving along the route known as the Way of the Patriarchs in Samaria, the heart of biblical Israel, you'll come to ancient Shiloh.

The Bible says this is the place where Joshua parceled out the Promised Land to the 12 tribes of Israel. It's also where the Tabernacle of the Lord stood for more than 300 years.
Dr. Scott Stripling directs the excavations at Shiloh. Along with dozens of volunteers, he and his crew are digging into history.

"Welcome to ancient Shiloh," Stripling greeted us. "This is the first capital of ancient Israel and it's a sacred spot because the Mishkan was here, the Tabernacle, where people came to connect with God."

"We're dealing with real people, real places, real events," he continued. "This is not mythology. The coins that we excavated today – we're talking about coins of Herod the Great, Pontius Pilate, Thestos, Felix, Agrippa the First, Agrippa the Second. The Bible talks about these people. We've got the image right here."
That 'image' includes a fortified wall built by the Canaanites. The team finds a treasure trove of artifacts there, which includes ancient coins and some 2,000 pieces of pottery a day.

"Now, this one was from yesterday," he said. "It's been washed already so you see the same form right out of the ground in yesterday and those are those handles from the stone vessels. Remember, Jesus' first miracle in Cana? There were stone jars full of water. That's that ritual purity culture of the first century."
An archaeologist like Dr. Stripling looks at these shards as a fine time piece.

"Just like your great grandmother's pottery is different from your pottery that you're using today…once we learn the pottery, then we can use it as our primary means of dating."

Stripling says literally digging into the Bible can change your life."
"You can read the Bible, you can walk the Bible, but the ultimate is to dig the Bible," he said. "You know, when we actually get into the swill, like these students from Lea University. They're literally – it's under their fingernails and in their nose and in their mouth and their ears and they're exposing this ancient culture. It becomes one with you. It's sort of like we came out of the soil and as we dig into the soil, we connect with God and with each other, I think, in a very important way," he said.

Abigail Leavitt, a student at the University of Pikesville, serves as object registrar.
"I love getting my hands dirty. I love digging in the dirt. It's my favorite thing," she told CBN News.
While people of all age volunteer at the dig, the main drivers are students like Abigail.
"It's tiring and exhausting, but it's really rewarding," she said. "It's exciting to find ancient things – things that have been just waiting for us for thousands of years."

Leavitt says the Bible comes alive in the dirt.
"I read the Bible totally differently than I did before I came here, and I can see when I read the Bible I know the places, I know what's going on. I understand it more deeply, especially where previous archaeologists have claimed the archaeology disproves the Bible. But when we dig here, we find that everything matches. You read it in the Bible. You dig in the dirt and there it is," she said.
Stripling said, "Archaeology doesn't set out to prove or disprove the Bible. What we want to do is to illuminate the biblical text, the background of the text, so to set it in a real world culture to what we call verisimilitude," he explained.
"So, we get an ancient literary description. Now, we have a material culture that matches that," he continued. "Chris, you're sitting where Samuel and Eli and Hannah and these people that we have read about, they came just like us, needing answers, needing to connect with God, needing forgiveness."
Stripling says they dig into the past and find lessons for the present.
"One of the faith lessons for us is that God is the potter and we are the clay. And even if our lives are broken like these vessels are, God told Jeremiah after He had told him to go to Shiloh and see what He had done, He told him to go to the potter's house and look at a flawed vessel and see how the potter puts it back on the wheel and works out the imperfections. So my faith lesson is this: Yes we're imperfect, but if we will allow God, He wants to put us [on] His potter's wheel and make us a vessel of honor."
Stripling often cites Psalm 102.
"O Zion, your servants take delight in its stones and favor its dust." (Ps. 102:14)
"For me this is sacred soil. This is where the Mishkan was that answers the most basic of all human questions: 'How do I connect with God?' And I think that's their most basic question," he said.
"I know I messed up. I know that God is holy. How do I bridge that gap when I sin against other people, when I sin against God. Ultimately, Chris, if the Bible is true, then the God of the Bible has a moral claim on our lives. And as we establish the veracity of the biblical text, I hope that everyone watching would just think about that – that God loves us and He has a moral claim on our lives."
