Abraham Lincoln was born in North Carolina. True?

Abraham Lincoln was born in North Carolina. True?

According to the Bostic Lincoln Center museum’s historical displays in the small town of Bostic, North Carolina, about 1.5 hrs. NW of Charlotte, Abraham Lincoln was born to Nancy Hanks right here in North Carolina. Not in Kentucky has many history books had taught us, with Tom Lincoln as his father.
No, Thomas Lincoln was not likely his father. It was probably Abraham Enloe, when young Nancy lived with the Enloes in Rutherford County as a “bound out” girl. And Abraham seems to have been born in 1804, rather than 1809. When Nancy married Tom, she had a young, black-haired boy at their side after the wedding ceremony.
True?
After visiting the Bostic Lincoln Center, we certainly would tend to agree with the historical facts presented, along with the video we saw of those testifying of ancestral books, documents, and friends of Nancy Hanks during her stay here in the area.
If you have time, want a nice road trip out of Charlotte, then go see for yourself. After all, as the Bible says, everything will come to the light in time.
Enjoy the photos I took March 21, 2020 with my iPhone. I had forgotten my Canon Powershot camera at home!

“This Shaking Is Not for Destruction, but for Transformation” – Arleen Westerhof, Netherlands Prophetic Council

“This Shaking Is Not for Destruction, but for Transformation” – Arleen Westerhof, Netherlands Prophetic Council

March 20, 2020 Arleen Westerhof, The Netherlands

From the Desk of Steve Shultz:

Dear Elijah List Readers,

It’s important to receive from our European prophets. Here is an important word by Arleen Westerhof.

I don’t normally put in a personal correspondence between other prophets and myself, but I felt it would give you a flavor of how we all communicate at times like this.

So here it is…from Prophet Arleen Westerhof:

Dear Steve and Derene,
I hope you’re both doing well and are at peace in these tumultuous times. We’ve talked a few times at the Global Prophetic Consultation meeting in 2018 and at the ACPE meeting in Dallas last November. You’ve published several of my prophetic words in the past. Back then, I led the Netherlands Prophetic Council. Now I also co-lead the European Prophetic Council together with Dr. Sharon Stone.

I want to say “thanks” to you both for getting life-giving prophetic words out there when hope and perspective are so badly needed right now.

Here’s my contribution to the mix. It’s called: “This shaking is not for destruction, but for transformation.”

Abundant blessings to you both,

Dr. Arleen Westerhof,
Founder and Director, Netherlands Prophetic Council

“This Shaking Is Not for Destruction, but for Transformation” Arleen Westerhof, Amsterdam, Netherlands

Concerning the coronavirus, the Lord would say, “When I am lifted up I will draw all men unto Me” (John 12:32). This text refers to Jesus being lifted up on the Cross. As I waited on the Lord, however, I kept seeing the replica of a poisonous bronze “snake” being lifted up on a pole: “So the Lord sent poisonous snakes among the people, and many were bitten and died. Then the people came to Moses and cried out, ‘We have sinned by speaking against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take away the snakes.’ So Moses prayed for the people.

Then the Lord told him, ‘Make a replica of a poisonous snake and attach it to a pole. All who are bitten will live if they simply look at it.’ So Moses made a snake out of bronze and attached it to a pole. Then anyone who was bitten by a snake could look at the bronze snake and be healed!” (Num. 21:6-9).

The Serpent and God’s Judgment on ItThe book of Genesis tells us that it was the serpent that was responsible for death, destruction, sickness and disease entering the world. The serpent lied and Adam and Eve chose to act independently of God: “‘You won’t die!’ the serpent replied to the woman. ‘God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil'” (Gen. 3:4-5).

This is the same spirit that Isaiah talks about: “How you are fallen from Heaven, O shining star, son of the morning! You have been thrown down to the earth, you who destroyed the nations of the world. For you said to yourself, ‘I will ascend to Heaven and set my throne above God’s stars. I will preside on the mountain of the gods far away in the north. I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most High.'” (Isa. 14:12-14).

Jesus’ attitude was completely different: “So Jesus said, ‘When you have lifted up the Son of Man on the Cross, then you will understand that I AM He. I do nothing on My own but say only what the Father taught Me. And the one who sent Me is with Me – He has not deserted Me. For I always do what pleases Him'” (John 8:28-29). In Numbers 21 God took the very thing that was the source of death and destruction, and by His power, transformed it into a source of life.

Much later, Jesus’ death on the Cross and resurrection became the ultimate source of life for us all.

God’s judgment on the snake in Genesis 3 was clear: “Then the Lord God said to the serpent, ‘Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all animals, domestic and wild. You will crawl on your belly, groveling in the dust as long as you live. And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel'” (Gen. 3:14-15).

God is busy exposing the works of this serpent (death, destruction and destabilization) in our times.

What I hear God saying on both a macro and personal level is this:

1. It’s time to lift up our eyes and fix our gaze on Jesus, our Source of life (John 3:14-16). Don’t allow yourself to be distracted by fear.

2. “Corona” means crown. There is, however, only One who wears the crown and that is Jesus Christ: “I am the Lord; that is My name! I will not give My glory to anyone else, nor share My praise with carved idols” (Isa. 42:8).

3. Globalization is not God’s idea. God is the Creator of nations (Gen. 11). He is the One who established languages, ethnicities and geographical borders. It was never His intention for one nation to dominate others as China is doing today. We have to start to rethink our global supply chains.

4. As nations and as individuals, we need to start to treasure our unique identities and callings in Christ. We cannot afford to give them away, or sell them, in the name of financial gain. For example, according to Arthur Burke, the Netherlands is a “giver” nation. This means that the concepts of stewardship and caring for others are very important to those of us from this nation.

We are called to release life-giving generational blessings into family lines. We are called to produce life-giving systems through holiness and intimacy with God.

The United States is a “prophet/ruler” nation where concepts like freedom and helping others to walk in their callings are important. Superstates in which nations relinquish their national identities are not God’s idea.

Shaking

God is shaking things at this time. He is the One behind the shaking. This is as true for us as individuals as it is for our nations: “When God spoke from Mount Sinai His voice shook the earth, but now He makes another promise: ‘Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.’ This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain” (Heb. 12:26-27).

The Greek word for “removed” is “metathesis.” This means “transfer: from one place to another.” However, it also means “change.” This is important because this shaking is not meant for our destruction (even though it hurts) but for our transformation.

In this season in which God has pressed the pause button on our economies and our lives, it is time to allow Him to work deeply in us, to root out all of our fears, pain and busyness. As we do, He will change and prepare us for the major positive moves of God that await.*

“It Will Come – The Lord’s Provision for Ministry” – Now Think On This by Steve Martin

“It Will Come – The Lord’s Provision for Ministry” – Now Think On This by Steve Martin

“After Athens, Paul went to Corinth. That is where he discovered Aquila, a Jew born in Pontus, and his wife, Priscilla. They had just arrived from Italy, part of the general expulsion of Jews from Rome ordered by Claudius. Paul moved in with them, and they worked together at their common trade of tentmaking.” Acts 18:1-3, THE MESSAGE
Paul made tents. Or as most understood in the Jewish craftsmen trade, tallits. Non-Jews, Gentiles, would know these as prayer shawls. These are the large head coverings used in prayer and sometimes, when needed, as protective clothing against the wind and rain. For those who have had the joy and honor of going to the Western Wall (the Kotel) in the Old City of Jerusalem, it is good seeing the men (and some women) praying in earnest with their tallits covering their heads.

Here in the USA, most synagogues have them available before entrance into the main auditorium for gatherings, should you not have your own with you. As a Gentile, I never do, though I have one at home.
How do I know that the English word used here in Acts 18, “tentmaking” in Hebrew would be “tallit”? Because a Jewish man explained this verse in Acts to me. This good friend, a Messianic Jew who Love For His People ministry assists with monthly provision, also labors in a trade in Israel. Being indebted to the Jews for what they have given Christians also (Bible, Messiah, Prophets), we consider it our privilege and duty to bless his work in the Land of Israel.
As several of you may know, who have read my books or have known of my history, I served with three ministries in the USA for 24 years, as Director, Administrator, and/or Accountant. Usually, it was both the administration and the accounting positions at the same time. Each of these three organizations had a primary interest in Israel and the Jews. One organization’s founders resided five miles west of Jerusalem, with an American office that I ran for 5 years, prior to beginning Love For His People in 2010.
As one very attuned to the vast financial and operational cost of these ministries, I made a commitment that when I started a ministry, our income would come from resources other than the monthly mass appeal letter choice, which is very common with large (and small) ministries. And yet I had a difficult time justifying all the time and expense, needing paid staff and constant volunteers, outside contractors for specific portions of the job, and just the overall expense of scheduled monthly appeals (“opportunity letters” as one called them).
I personally committed to not do that and would trust the Lord with other means of provision.
Being I had left the $70,000 job in 2010, with full benefits, medical, vacation and more, one simply does not cover that income loss by trusting in family and friends to “come forth”, even though a good handful did. I had to get part-time work to pay our personal house mortgage, car payment, and everything in between. With my good wife’s income from her daycare job. The Lord did provide and give some great ways to cut expenses at the same time. It is amazing what you think you need but don’t when you really don’t have that extra to shell out.
But in all of this, and even if it took a while, the Lord has shown me that I too can be as Paul, and be a “tentmaker”, which in turn would bring in provision for the ministry work He has called us to do.
Yeshua HaMashiach
And thus, through my accounting contract jobs, the funds came, and continue to do so. Right into the ministry’s bank account, too. No personal taxes deducted. Nothing.
We are grateful for the ones who have joined alongside us in sharing their financial gifts, seeing the need, knowing the work that is done – provision for those we do support with extra gifts, along with with the outreach through social media, book publication, and teaching opportunities given to advance the Kingdom of God.
I wanted to write this testimony to let you know that there are more than the “usual” ways most ministries operate in having income to fund the mission.
As the Lord has given me the skill in accounting to do it, you too may be wanting to have a ministry outreach, and He will have you use your years of experience, training and skills developed, to also have a service or trade in order to provide for your ministry work.
And yes, Love For His People ministries does accept and receive all gifts, small or large, with thankful hearts! https://loveforhispeople.com/donate/
As one closing thought, here is a word from the Word, that I practice very often, because I believe it, and found He is true to His Word.
“But the generous person devises generous things, and his generosity will keep him standing.” Isaiah 32:8, Complete Jewish Bible
