Hasmonean Building Uncovered

First ever discovery of Hasmonean period building in Jerusalem uncovered in archaeological excavations in the City of David. Josephus wrote about Jerusalem in the Hasmonean period, but this marks the first discovery of original structural remains from this period in the city’s history.
 





Ancient Curse Tablet Discovered

A rolled-up sheet of lead bearing a Greek inscription was recently discovered in archaeological excavations the Israel Antiquities Authority is conducting in the Givati Parking Lot in the City of David. The sheet of lead is revealed to be a tablet bearing a spell probably written by a professional sorcerer or wizard.
