Jerusalem Inspiration Psalm 118 is said towards the end of the Seder and uses a key Passover word, ‘confines.’ The Hebrew word for ‘confines’ מ-צ-ר is closely related to the word for Egypt מצרים - mitz-ra-yeem. On an emotional level, Egypt symbolizes the agonizing straits that constrict us. Each of us occasionally finds ourselves trapped, sometimes for physical reasons, such as poverty or illness and sometimes for psychological reasons, such as depression or despair.
