Israel Photo Trivia ✡ "A Sacrifice to the Lord"

Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: When a man from [among] you brings a sacrifice to the Lord; from animals, from cattle or from the flock you shall bring your sacrifice. Today's Israel Inspiration This past Sabbath we began to read from ספר ויקרא / the Book of Leviticus which describes in great detail all of the various sacrifices that were offered in Biblical times. The offerings are often hard to relate to in our modern times, but the Hebrew word for "sacrifice" sheds light into their deeper significance. A "sacrifice" is קרבן / kar-BAN which has at its root,  ק-ר-ב meaning, ‘to come close.’ Sacrifices were meant to bring people closer to the Almighty. Today it is prayer through which we can connect to our Father in Heaven.
