Today's Israel Inspiration Throughout the entire Hebrew Bible, we read of numerous instances where Biblical figures "make a feast" for guests as a sign of both hospitality and/or gratitude to God, such as Abraham, Laban, Pharaoh, Moses, Elkanah and King Saul. Even the festivals are closely associated with food, as it says "Feast of Unleavened Bread" (Deuteronomy 16:16), "Feast of Weeks" (Exodus 34:22) and "Feast of Tabernacles" (II Chronicles 8:13).
