The promised Messiah has come! - ONE FOR ISRAEL

Dr. Erez Soref, President of ONE FOR ISRAEL
Shalom!

The word of Adonai came to Abram in a vision saying,

"Do not fear, Abram.
    I am your shield,
        your very great reward."

God had promised Abram (later to be called Abraham) a son, a land, and a blessing that would go to all nations. All wonderful gifts! It's hard to imagine how much each of those things would have meant to a wandering, childless, aging couple. Yet God states that more than all of these things, He Himself is the real prize. He is our very great reward. It's good to stop and drink in the fact God has given us the most incredible gift of all: Himself.

In our chapel service for the students on Thursday, Thomas Damianos, an Arab member of our staff, summarized the message of the nativity for us in four words:

"God promised, God fulfilled!"

The Gospel of Matthew is directed to a Jewish audience and is also the only gospel that mentions the wise men from the east. Thomas shared his understanding that despite the fact they were Gentiles, lived thousands of miles away, and had no Bible, it was they who recognized the real King, while the religious leaders in Jerusalem (just a few miles away) reported to Herod as king. The Gospel of Matthew starts off calling him "King Herod" at first, but after the encounter with the wise men, Herod is never called king again. The true King had arrived, and He had come for both Jews and Gentiles.

Yesterday, a third of the world celebrated His arrival. The stars moved for Him and time was split in two.

After centuries of Gentiles recognizing the true "King of the Jews", we are now seeing more and more Jewish brothers and sisters joining in the joyful recognition that their promised Messiah has come.

Watch Dr. Dauermann's wonderful story below to hear how he discovered Yeshua was the Messiah!

Isaiah 9 And The Day Of Midian

As the Christian world celebrates Christmas, the wonderful prophecy of Isaiah 9:6 "Unto us a son is born", will come into focus once again. But perhaps less familiar to many is the treasure just two verses before it, in 9:4: "For the yoke of his burden, and the staff for his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as on the day of Midian." It's easy for Christians to gloss over texts which have war and battle in them, but no word of Scripture will ever become irrelevant. What is the "Day of Midian?" Continue reading...

Why Is It Called An Ark?

When we talk about "The Ark" in the Bible, we could either be talking about the Ark of the Covenant, or Noah's Ark. The funny thing is that even though we use the same word in English, the words in Hebrew are different. And yet, the description of detailed instructions God gave Noah about how to build the ark feels decidedly similar to the intricate description God gave Moses about how to construct the Ark of the Covenant. Like so many important themes in Scripture, the echoes we hear from story to story should alert us to a deliberate parallel. Continue reading...
