June 27, 2019 Greetings friends of Love For His People. I was asked yesterday when my next email would go out, so after our 11th family reunion (with me in charge, held here in Charlotte, working 2 jobs (my former boss needs some emergency assistance), and planning the next trip to Israel in September with the "Four Louis Brothers Adventure"... I thought I'd better get one out. Gotta love it, right? Sure do! It is rather nice when people ask for your messages. The Martin Family Reunion went very well. With this being my 3rd one I was in charge of out of the 11 (how does that happen when there are 8 siblings taking turns???), and returning to the job I had retired from 2 years ago now this October, I know the Lord gives grace and strength to carry on. For that - you and I can always be thankful. My 2nd edition of "So What Do You Do?" was published. Maybe it will encourage you with the kids at home for the summer. And...a special surprise for someone. Look here. I'll keep this short, knowing you are probably on vacation (checking emails, heh?), hanging outside in the shade, or just laying low for a season. Train Up A Child Steve Martin "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6, NKJV) You can add "grandchild" to that verse too, for that also is in the Lord's heart. Having given some time in caring for our youngest grandson, Levi Avalos, for a few times each week the past two years, I recall the times when raising our own four kids that I wish I knew then what I know now. If you are a grandparent, you may be thinking the same thing. Life is really more difficult I believe for these past two generations. No longer is "black" black, nor "white" white as we use to say. Now everything seems to be blurred and wacky. No wonder kids these days bury themselves in video games and YouTube, with parents gone, neighbors unknown, streets unsafe to play on. You name it, things are not what they use to be. So true are the Bible verses stating, in 2 Timothy 3:1-6, "But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these."
