New message by Steve Martin from Jerusalem

Pure Joy

“Go home and prepare a feast, holiday food and drink; and share it with those who don’t have anything: This day is holy to God. Don’t feel bad. The joy of God is your strength!” (Nehemiah 8:10, The Message)

As believers in Jesus (Yeshua) we are to be a light in the world, as He is the Light of the World. This is one of His intents for Hanukkah, which Jesus showed as He walked in Jerusalem during that December time when He came to earth to save us.

And now, as I sit here in front of the Sderot, Israel memorial park, south of Tel Aviv, which had heavy losses during the horrific attack by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023, I can understand how some continue to say, “Why, Lord? How can I have any joy in the midst of this loss, tragedy, killing that continues on?”

But we can. He came the first time to bring us that joy, the hope, the salvation found only in Him. Where the enemy continues to prove himself, evident in destroying mankind, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Messiah, Yeshua HaMashiach, all the more shows His outpouring of love, comfort, and restoration.

I see this in Israel. I see this among Jews and Christians alike, as their hearts are turned to the Light, and they experience true joy.

I see it among the families that do continue to trust, and seek, and long for the Messiah. For those who know Jesus, He has come and has been our comforter and joy. For those who have not yet experienced His salvation, He is standing with open arms awaiting that time for them.

In all, we give thanks as our Lord instructs us to do.

When all is said and done, He remains on the throne. His pure joy is what we long for and receive as we keep our eyes and hearts fixed on Him.

Ahava and shalom,
