Sept. 30, 2017

Greetings from Charlotte, North Carolina.

Our first Love For His People three weeks ago was received very well by you on our list. Thank you! This was very encouraging and appreciative.

Since I last sent this out, Laurie and I have been to Toronto to join in celebrating at a very beautiful Jewish wedding. Our first one! The groom and I met 8 years ago in Jerusalem, and he asked me a few months ago to be their wedding photographer. Mazel tov to William and his bride! (If you need a photographer for a special occasion, I know who is available! Let me know!)

Today we feature a new Now Think On This message, along with a word from Jerusalem with Hadassah's blog post. We also have added Pastor Abel's teaching from Nigeria, West Africa. He has been writing for our ministry blog for two months now, and is well read.

Our Arms of Love video message is also included for viewing, which Laurie and I shared from Niagara Falls. (Part of our upcoming 40th year marriage anniversary.)

My heart is that you are drawing closer to the Lord in all His ways, especially as this new year 5778 begins on His calendar. May you hear Yeshua (Jesus) speak His heart's desire to you, directing and encouraging you along the way.

Be blessed in you blessing this week.

"Desperation" by Steve Martin

“When I was desperate, I called out, and God got me out of a tight spot.” (Psalm 34:6, The Message)

The Merriam-Webster dictionary states that desperation is the “loss of hope and surrender to despair.” Loss of hope is a terrible thing. When there is no hope, not much else is left to cling to.

There will certainly come a time when many will reach a point where things get desperate, with no seemingly place to turn, people to call, or even a hopeless prayer to be said. Of course, having no belief in God, with many of these it is happening already.

Those who have no faith, whom have denied the factual proof of the Living God of Israel in their heart, head and history, trusting instead in their deceived mind, may never reach the point of salvation. Instead of giving up the pride that has exalted them to lofty human levels, they continue to lift their fists of anger and hatred to Him Who sits on the throne.

V’ahavta  וְאָהַבְתָּ   ‘…And you shall love…’
Hadassah from Jerusalem

The Law of the Messiah - V'ahavta (...and you shall love...") - Hadassah from Jerusalem

To know and to do God’s will. This seems to be the question on most true Believer’s hearts: LORD what is your will? God has made His will clear in the Word that He has given us- His commandments, His Laws. But especially through His Son Y’shua’s words and example did He reveal Himself and His heart towards us and His will.

With so many decrees and laws to know and follow we can get bogged down- overwhelmed. Even in His day, an observant Jewish man asked Y’shua which Law is the greatest. Recorded in three of the Gospels (Mt 22:37, Mk 12:30, Lk 10:27), Y’shua quotes to him from the well-known daily prayer the Sh’ma (Deut. 6:5): “And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

In Mark, Y’shua continues: "The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Continue: The Law of the Messiah

Arms of Love
Video Message by Steve & Laurie Martin

Laurie and I flew to Toronto on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017 to be a blessing to our Jewish friends getting married on Sunday, Sept. 15. After the special ceremony, where I took 1147 photos and two videos as our gift to them, Laurie and I came here to Niagara Falls to celebrate our 40th year of covenant marriage. That big day is October 8th! Yeah Lord!

Please listen to our greeting to you. This one is especially special because Laurie joins me behind the camera for the first time!

Following God's Programming - Pastor Abel Oyewale, Abba Father Fellowship International Nigeria, West Africa

People often think that God has forgotten them during adversities. God told the exiles that He was allowing things to work out thus, because of His gracious plan to prosper them, to give them hope and a future.

"Then shall you call upon Me, and you shall go pray to Me and I will hearken to you. And you shall seek Me, and find Me, when you shall search for Me with all your heart." (Jeremiah.29:12-13 )

Does God permanently abandon His people? No! He would deliver the exiles, so that their broken relationship/fellowship with Him would be restored. This renewal is however conditional. They must seek God whole heartedly.

Basic Life Instructions
BASIC LIFE PRINCIPLES - Living How God Meant It To Be

We all want to enjoy having the good things in life, and often do that which is good, or not so good, to achieve that goal. But what if we sought the One who created us, to find out what His thoughts are, what His ways were meant to be, and to actually walk in the chosen path He ordained for each one of us to go on?

I personally think we might discover the best way to live, and find real purpose in discovering, and walking out, His perfect plan and purposes for you and I. These messages, from my regularly published Now Think On This, will help to encourage you to get on the path that Lord Jesus Christ specifically created for you to walk on.

Life has purpose. Life has meaning. If we look to the Creator, we will know what that is. Enjoy the read, while seeking the Living God in all His ways. You will surely be rewarded for it, now and forever, amen. Steve Martin, Author

"Grace"

Love For His People video
with Steve Martin

Aug. 15, 2017

Greetings friends of Love For His People.

Grace is the word for today! And don't we all need much of it? We certainly do.

When I asked the Lord what the message should be for this edition of Arms of Love, the Holy Spirit gave me the word "grace" yesterday as I drove home from my accounting job. I really needed it there, as I close out my 5-year tenure come this Oct. 31. I am sure you need some more grace in your life too. Today possibly? I think every day!

I hope you are encouraged as you listen to this word shared from my heart. Please let me know if it does, will you?

Grace, grace, grace. Fill our hearts today Lord with your faith, hope, love and grace!

Ahava and shalom,

Steve

Today I want to share with you our village. It’s actually a settlement just outside Jerusalem. I don’t know what kind of image the word ‘settlement’ brings to mind, but I thought you’d like to see for yourselves a bit of where I live. There will be more glimpses in the future, but for today, enjoy this brief invitation to my neighborhood.
The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. Psalm 16:6

Hadassah and Nissim, her accountant husband, live in a settlement just outside Jerusalem with their dog Molly. After making Aliyah (immigrating) from the U.S. with their 5 children in 1989  they are now semi-retired and open their home to guests and those wishing to make Aliyah. When not busy with their 16 'GrandWonders', they enjoy a quiet life of study, prayer and learning to serve the LORD.

Jerusalem Log #2 - Monday 7 p.m. 05.01.17 - Steve Martin

Jerusalem Log Monday p.m. 05.01.17
Jerusalem, Israel
#2

Greetings once again from Jerusalem!

My first full day back in the Land. This Monday it was Memorial Day, with the sirens going off all over the country at 11 am, causing the Jewish people to stop everything (driving included) in honor of the memory of fallen soldiers. It was awesome being right in the heart of Jerusalem and seeing Jaffa Street totally shut down, with people, trains, buses and all stopped, remembering their friends and fallen. Everyone in Israel has lost a close one over these 69 years.

And tonight at sundown begins Independence Day, when the annual celebration begins!

Bus #74, before it got packed

I began the day getting on the city bus #74 on south Hebron Street, taking it to the Central Bus Station at the end of Jaffa Street, before catching the light train back down Jaffa to Ben Yehuda. (Just for the fun of it.) In between I stopped in at the Distribution Center of Christian Friends of Israel, which has for more than 25 years been helping Jews making Aliyah get settled in Israel. Other projects provide needed humanitarian supplies for IDF soldiers, Holocaust victims, wedding dresses for those lacking funds, and much more.

Visiting shop owner friends on Ben Yehuda is always a joy. David, Dahlia and the Saiden family, owners of two shops, always give me special deals at Golden Jerusalem and David and Dan. I met their father Avraham over 10 years ago when I first walked into his Judaica gift shop. We have been friends ever since.

Dahlia Saiden

My good friend at Shkalim Fashion blesses me as I bless him, filling my hoodie, fleece and t-shirt orders from family and friends.

Hoodies and t-shirts at the Shkalim Fashion shop on Ben Yehuda

Leaving the shopping center, I made my way to the Western Wall in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City, I first walked on the Ramparts, which I had never done. This is a walk on top of the outer wall, formerly used by Jordanian soldiers to fire their guns at Jews prior to the 1967 Six-Day War. This end of May marks the 50th anniversary of when the Jews took back control of their city for good, reclaiming what was theirs in the beginning, when King David made it the capital of Israel.

The Western Wall (Kotel in Hebrew) has always been close to my heart. Last night a Memorial Service was held in its plaza, remembering the fallen soldiers who fought the many wars of defense during these 69 years of present day Israel’s existence.

Memorial Day at the Kotel (Western Wall)

It was good spending the afternoon at the Liberty Bell Park with a family of seven whom our ministry Love For His People has supporting going on seven years now. We are grateful for these relationships, giving us the opportunity to bless Israel and the people.

Until tomorrow…

Ahava (love) and Shalom (peace) from Jerusalem!
