Ancient Prayers ✡ "She Prayed To Hashem, Weeping All The While" - Israel365

In her wretchedness, she prayed to Hashem,
weeping all the while.

Today's Israel Inspiration

The Book of Samuel opens with a heartbroken Chana who has no children, and therefore goes to pray at the Mishkan (tabernacle) in Shiloh.  The Mishkan stood in Shiloh for 369 years before the building of the Beit Hamikdash in Yerushalayim.  During that time, Shiloh served as the central focal point of the national service to Hashem. Unfortunately, many of the Israelites ignored the Mishkan, and refrained from visiting it for the pilgrimage festivals. Therefore, when Elkana and Chana, who were prophets, made their pilgrimages to Shiloh, they travelled along different routes each time, in order to encourage others to join them, and to serve Hashem properly.  Established in 1978, contemporary Shiloh is a thriving Jewish community built adjacent to the ancient site where the Mishkan stood and where Chana prayed for a child. In addition to the fascinating archaeological site, excavated by the Israel Antiquities Authority, modern Shiloh contains several synagogues, one of which is built as a replica of the Mishkan. However, Shiloh is in a community over the Green Line. Sadly, it has been struck by repeated acts of terror – and many of the children of Shiloh suffer from mental and physical challenges as a result. The Shiloh Israel Children's Fund focuses on helping these affected children lead normal and happy lives.

Judaism in Israel began in the ancient city of Shiloh. Shiloh is now a gem of archaeology!

Expansion of Halamish in the Face of Terror

As the people of Halamish in Samaria slowly recover from the brutal  murders of three members of the Salomon family expansion of the Halamish community has begun.

Archaeological Proofs of the Validity of the Bible

For many years, it seemed as if there were no archaeological remains from the period when the Israelite nation entered the Land of Israel as recorded in the book of Joshua. Recent investigations have revealed hundreds of priorly unknown Israelite sites from this historical period. Watch now to witness breathtaking discoveries of archaeological evidence of the Jewish Nation entering the Promised Land.

The Bible Series That's Too Edgy For TV "Of Kings And Prophets" - MOVIEGUIDE CHARISMA NEWS

The Bible Series That's Too Edgy For TV

1/27/2016 MOVIEGUIDE CHARISMA NEWS

Of Kings and Prophets, a new series set to air on ABC in March, is a Hollywood rendition of the stories of Samuel, Saul and David from 1 and 2 Samuel in the Bible. The show's trailer recently previewed at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
During the panel with the show's producers and executives immediately following, questions were asked regarding the apparent level of sexual and violent content in the trailer, and what that means for the series. Multiple critics who saw the pilot were surprised by the amount of nudity included, especially considering the fact that Of Kings and Prophets follows the relatively family-friendly TV series Marvel's Agents of Shield on Tuesday nights in March.
Executive producer Chris Brancato said that the series isn't going to shy away from mature content.
"We're going to go as far as we can," Brancato said. "This story is an Old Testament [one that's] violent [and] sex-drenched. It's one of the world's first soap operas. ... You will watch a show that is tasteful but that also tells the story you can read if you want to pick up the Bible."
MovieGuide notes that there's a huge difference between a textual description of events and an actual depiction of acts.
The show's writers are Adam Cooper and Bill Collage, who previously worked on Ridley Scott's Bible-based epic, Exodus: Gods and Kings
Brancato explained that in order to meet the standards and parameters regarding content shown on broadcast television, some of the more explicit content may be edited out for broadcast and only included in online streams of the series.
"We have the wonderful ability to put a show on broadcast and then also have an online streaming version, which has less restrictions ... on it, so it may be that what you saw in this sexual clip in this trailer would probably be in the online version and not on broadcast," he said.
"The love story is essential to this pilot story," Brancato said. "We were seeking in that scene to suggest the pent-up passion and sexuality between these two characters. ... There is no discussion about trying to add more sex or violence for the simple sake of doing so. We're trying to tell the story that is in 1 and 2 Samuel, which has plenty of sex and violence on its own."
Unsurprisingly, and disappointingly, there's no discussion of the real themes of repentance, redemption and walking with God, which is far more intriguing than the sex and violence ABC is trying to sell to the American public.

Hebrew Music Monday ✡ "The Youth Samuel" - ISRAEL365

And the youth, Samuel, was growing up, and bettering himself both with the Lord and with people.

SAMUEL I (2:26)

וְהַנַּעַר שְׁמוּאֵל הֹלֵךְ וְגָדֵל וָטוֹב גַּם עִם יְ-הֹוָה וְגַם עִם אֲנָשִׁים

שמאול א ב:כו

Today's Israel Inspiration

As our verse describes, the righteous Samuel grew up in the service of God, and found favor in all those around him. He went on to anoint the first Kings of Israel, Saul and David. The name Samuel means "God has heard" referring to God answering the fervent prayers of his mother, Hannah. Today in Israel, child victims of terror need intensive therapies in order to overcome the trauma and to be able to "grow and better themselves." The Shiloh Israel Children's Fund runs over 500 group therapy sessions each year, and utilizes innovative therapy methods such as music therapy, animal therapy, art therapy, horseback riding therapy and drama therapy to help heal children who were victims of terror.

While Arabs Teach their Children Violence, Israel Builds Playgrounds

Sad but true... an Israeli town is building more local playgrounds for children in order to reduce the need to travel on roads that have seen a lot of attacks, including rock throwing, firebombs, and shootings.

Choosing the next American President - Joel Rosenberg

Joel-FRC-VVS15

New post on Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog

When it comes to choosing the next American President, what lessons can we draw from the Biblical stories of Josiah, Samuel and David? (My address to the Values Voter Summit)

by joelcrosenberg
I addressed the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C.
[To watch the video of my remarks, please click here.]
After most of the GOP presidential candidates had spoken, I was the last general session speaker at the two-day Summit. In my remarks, I focused on the darkness falling upon the Middle East -- and particularly the emerging threat of Apocalyptic Islam -- as well as why America is currently on the road to implosion unless we dramatically change course.
Rather than spend extensive time looking at the many existential challenges we face, however, I focused mostly on how we might best approach choosing the next American President. Who would be best candidate to lead America in 2017 and beyond? Who has the right character, vision, and detailed, substantive, serious plans for reform? Who has the wisdom, experience and sound judgment? Who is ready for the enormous and complicated challenges facing this great country?
I noted that I have been praying about this and studying the Scriptures for many months, asking the Lord for clarity, and here is what I have concluded: America also needs a Josiah. A President cannot save America from all our troubles. We desperately need a massive spiritual revival, a Third Great Awakening that transform hearts and minds from the Carolinas to California. But leadership matters. We need a leader like the one-time King of Judah whom the Bible describes as one of the most humble, strong, courageous, wise and impressive leaders in Jewish history.
In addition, I noted the story of the Hebrew prophet Samuel. The Bible tells us that Samuel was sent by God to the house of Jesse in Bethlehem to anoint the next King of Israel. The first person Samuel saw in Jesse's home looked like just the right guy. But God said no, this wasn't the one He had chosen. Then the next person Samuel saw looked like the right choice. But again God said no. This happened again and again until finally the Lord directed Samuel to anoint David -- who wasn't even in the room when Samuel began his search.
As we examine and study all the candidates, let us be prayerful and careful. Is it possible someone we're not carefully considering right now might be the one the Lord is raising up? Is it possible that someone at or near the bottom in the polls -- or just beginning to creep up in the polls -- has more to offer than we realize? I can't say if God will give us a Josiah -- or a David -- but let us not be hasty in making a decision, but watching carefully and seeking the Lord's counsel.
Finally, I noted that sometimes God doesn't raise up leaders after His own heart to lead a nation. Sometimes He requires His children to live under tyranny. Consider the story of Pastor Saeed Abedini. For three years, Saeed has been held in prison in Iran for preaching the Gospel and living for Christ. He has no immediate hope of a Josiah or a David coming to power in Iran. But he still is trying to cling to Christ and serve His Savior faithfully. We need to be praying for him to be brave and strong and healthy and released soon. And we need to consider his example -- could we be faithful for Christ amidst tyranny?
God help us all.
