Cities Of Refuge: Why Are People Creating Hundreds Of Places Of Refuge All Over America? - Michael Snyder THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

All over the United States, cities of refuge are being created. Now when I say “cities”, I don’t mean vast areas of land that can hold hundreds of thousands or millions of people. Rather, I am talking about much smaller places of refuge that can accommodate dozens or hundreds of people. In a few cases, I know of places of refuge that will be able to take in thousands of people, but that is about as big as they get.
There are individuals all across America that have specifically felt called to build communities where large numbers of people will be able to gather when society totally collapses. So why is this happening? Why do so many people feel such an urgency to create cities of refuge that would presumably never be used if we don’t ever see full-blown societal breakdown?
In the headline, I claimed that hundreds of these “cities of refuge” are being created, but the truth is that it could easily be thousands. I have personally talked to countless numbers of people that are like my wife and I and are planning to be able to take in members of their own extended families when things get really crazy. But there are others that are taking things to an entirely different level.
I was recently contacted by a man in New York state that plans to convert a hotel and surrounding facilities into a place of refuge that could potentially accommodate hundreds of people for an extended period of time. I know of a ranch in southern Idaho where the staff has been feverishly preparing to take in thousands of people when society starts completely falling apart. And I have corresponded with so many others both inside the United States and outside the country that are creating these types of communities.
It has been estimated that there are three million preppers in America today. But those that are creating these places of refuge are not just “prepping” for themselves. Instead, they feel called to prepare a place of safety where others will be able to gather when times get really crazy.
Due to the wide reach of my articles, I have had a lot of people involved in these communities reach out to me over time. Some have graciously let my wife and I know that there is a place for us if needed during a major emergency, and others have wanted for us to become personally involved in what they are doing. I wish that I could get involved in all of them, but there is a limit to what any one of us can do. But I always encourage people to keep pressing forward with their preparations, because without a doubt they will be needed someday.
In addition to what is happening inside the United States, there are others that have already left this country and are creating places of refuge abroad. There are people that are doing this in South America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East.
And of course every “place of refuge” looks different. As I mentioned above, some plan on transforming existing hotels or ranches into places of refuge. Others plan to use open land to host large numbers of RVs or to construct vast tent cities.
But there are five big things that all places of refuge need to be thinking about…
1. Food – It is going to take vast quantitites of food to even feed dozens of people. When you are talking about hundreds or thousands of people, the amount of food required for a place of refuge will be off the charts.
2. Water – None of us can live without water, and it has been estimated that the average American uses 80 to 100 gallons of water every single day. Of course we would all use a lot less during an emergency situation, but if your “place of refuge” does not have easy access to water that could become a major problem very rapidly.
3. Shelter – It is nice to think that you are going to take in a lot of people, but where are all of them going to sleep? Most people don’t think of mattresses or cots as “survival items”, but the truth is that they are going to be greatly in demand when things get crazy.
4. Power – If the electricity goes off and stays off for an extended period of time, what are you going to do? How will people stay warm, how will you cook food, and how will your community function without any artificial light whatsoever? Having an alternative source of power for your place of refuge is very important.
5. Security – If there was a full-blown collapse of society, any place that still has ample resources is automatically going to become a target. So it is great if you have everything that your community will need, but if you have no way to protect it you can end up losing it all very quickly.

There are a lot of preppers out there that are only preparing for themselves and their immediate families, and anyone else that comes looking for assistance when things get really hard will end up looking down the barrel of a shotgun.
But there are so many others that feel called by God to prepare a place for large numbers of people to gather during the coming storm. They are doing this by faith, because such places have never been needed before in modern American history. Perhaps if you go all the way back to the Great Depression of the 1930s you could find large groups of people that needed somewhere to go, but since that time we have generally been regarded as the wealthiest and most prosperous nation on the entire planet.
Unfortunately, things are rapidly changing in this country. Our economy is in the process of crumbling, there is evidence of social decay all around us, natural disasters are increasing in frequency and intensity, and World War 3 could erupt in the Middle East at any time.
If I am right, the time when these cities of refuge will be needed is not that far away.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of Americans are not preparing for what is ahead, and so most of them will be absolutely devastated by the great trials that are directly ahead of us.

The past week as I inquired of the Lord concerning the coming year of 2016, The Holy Spirit gave me this word. He showed me a giant who had been lulled to sleep, battle weary, bruised and broken. This giant was burdened down by the cares of the world, misfortunes and sickness. Then I asked the Lord, who is this sleeping giant? Is it the enemy? He then showed me that this sleeping giant represented the body of Christ. Numerous Christians have endured horrendous trials the past year but they don't realize that they are a giant who is about to be "awakened."
The book of Acts chapter two speaks about how the Holy Spirit came into the Upper Room on the day of Pentecost when 120 people were gathered together in prayer and in one accord. There was a sound as a mighty rushing wind, tongues of fire appeared on each of them and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. The onlookers mocked them saying that they were drunk with new wine, but Peter stood up and said, they are not drunk as you suppose but this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel.
The Lord says; The sleeping giant is about to awaken once again. I am about to pour out my new wine in abundance. In this day of great acceleration, many of you will advance expeditiously into what you were called to do. Do not fear the shifting and the shaking as these things are necessary for My plans and purposes to come to pass. Every opposition that arises is an opportunity to come to a higher place, and every challenge that you overcome will bring you to another level. I am awaking My people with a zeal that will be rekindled, their strength will be restored and their relationship with Me will be renewed.
Cultivating an Atmosphere of My Presence
As you pray in one accord, you will cultivate an atmosphere of My presence that will transform the spiritual atmosphere around you. As you worship together I will open up the floodgates and you will be immersed in My tangible presence.
In this great awakening, the men and woman who are mature in their walk with Me will teach, nurture and mentor those who are coming into the kingdom. I am calling those of you who know Me to train, encourage and support them. I will raise up those who have been delivered from the strongholds of the enemy to strengthen the younger ones in their faith.
I will awaken those who I have called to be as Moses. They will raise up Joshuas to train men to be strong and very courageous. They will train them in leadership and to be tenacious in spiritual warfare. They will teach them how to be more than conqueror's in every battle. They will encourage them to pursue the plan and calling on their lives and never retreat in battle.
I will awaken the Naomi's to train up the young Ruth's. These are godly women who will comfort and teach the younger woman how to live a lifestyle of integrity, sincerity and respect. They will teach them how to walk in humility, wisdom and honor in their relationships. They will teach them how to be submitted to their husbands rather than being enslaved by them.
The Wonders in Heaven
I will awaken the Elijahs to train and raise up Elishas with a double portion of their spirit. They will train the young prophets and teach them how to be used in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. They will show them how to follow in their footsteps and be used in miracles, signs and wonders with respect and reverence of the mighty anointing on their lives.
I will awaken the Paul's to train up young Timothy's in prayer. They will prepare them how to live godly lifestyles, show them how to refrain from sinful ways, how to walk authority but in the fear and admonition of the Lord. They will train them on how to be strong in what they believe, fan the flames and stir up the gifts that were given to them. They will warn them against false teachings and false prophets, and show them how to endure hardness as good soldiers. They will encourage them not to be ashamed of the gospel.
In this awakening, those who are timid will become bold as lions. There will be wonders in the heaven above, and signs on the earth below and My light will shine out of the darkness. Stand firm as you feel the ground shaking beneath you because the days of the latter and former rain of My glory are on the horizon says the Lord.
Joel 2:23-24 Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God; for He has given you the former rain faithfully, and He will cause the rain to come down for you -The former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.
Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
Acts 2: 1-4 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 2:17-21 And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath: Blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

"Now God has offered to us the same promise of entering into His realm of resting in confident faith. So we must be extremely careful to ensure that we all embrace the fullness of that promise and not fail to experience it." (Hebrews 4:1)
There is a remnant of resters rising up. Those who have been pressing deep into the secret place and the Lord has been bringing them to a greater place of rest. The Lord has been working deeply in their hearts leading them into a deeper place of confident expectation in Him. A deeper place of confident faith in who He is and His Word. A deeper place of settledness of His goodness, His power and authority.
In this place of deep rest, the Lord has been awakening in them a dissatisfaction and insatiable hunger for Him and seeing His Kingdom established. The Lord has broken chains off this remnant in the deep rest and imparted gifts of faith within them to believe for greater things, no matter what their eyes see.
This remnant of resters have been birthing deeply in the secret place. The Lord has been birthing in them a level of confident faith in Him, His nature and Word that they have never experienced. This new level of confidence in Him, is breaking off chains and limitations and they are now arising with great impartations to release across the body of Christ.
Called and Rising
This remnant of resters are now being called out by the Lord and are arising with a greater anointing for breakthrough as they have entered into this deeper level of rest and faith.
As this remnant is arising now and they are arising with angels of alignment alongside them. They are arising and being positioned/aligned into significant places across the body of Christ and places of EXTREME favor to release a greater impartation and teaching of deeper rest to the people of God.
They are partnering with the Lord in bringing a deeper and wider shift in the body of Christ to a place of deeper rest in Him. A place where wavering and 'to-ing' and 'fro-ing' is settled, it's stopped. Where roots and levels of doubt have continually tormented the people of God, it's being broken and settled. The fire of conviction and resolution to His goodness and the TRUTH of His Word is being birthed. A deeper place of settledness in Him and who He is and what His Word says in the victories and in the mysteries.
These remnant of resters are now finding themselves before HUGE leaps of faith. The Lord has imparted into their hearts revelation and rest, He has brought deep conviction of His nature, and now I see HUGE steps of faith before them. As they take these bold steps of faith forward, EVERYTHING is about to change.
He is about to rearrange it all and in their 'stepping out' the provision, manifestation of His faithfulness, increase of their faith and miraculous breakthrough will be seen releasing the testimony of Jesus, the spirit of prophecy right across the body of Christ, imparting FAITH to those struggling, to stand up and move deeper into the realm of rest and conviction of His nature and Word.
Moving to the Frontline of Greatness
This remnant of resters are not only moving out of the caves, out of hiding, into a greater position on the frontline to lead the body of Christ into some of the greatest encounters and revelation of the truth of who He is and the power of His Word, but into pinnacles of breakthrough. These resters are not only going to see breakthrough upon breakthrough upon their lives but begin to move forward and 'arrest' the enemy.
Suddenly schemes of the enemy will be thwarted, assignments will be shut down, the impossibilities he stirs up will be flattened as these ones move forward in their burning conviction and authority of KNOWING in SUCH A DEEP PLACE of rest inside them, who HE IS, that miraculous breakthrough occurs.
The Lord is releasing a TIDAL WAVE OF FAITH across the body of Christ through this remnant of resters arising. Reigniting faith where there has been hurt, pain, brokenness, despair, disappointment and confusion. These resters are moving forward ministering right across the body of Christ seeing the Holy Spirit IGNITE FAITH within the people of God who have lost it and add fuel to the fire of faith to those who are holding on.
I also saw the Lord specifically releasing 'gifts of faith' through this remnant of resters across the body of Christ that when activated and walked in broke some of the hardest ground we have seen. Ground broken open and His Glory displayed.
One of the greatest shifts of increase of faith is happening right now in the body of Christ as we stay positioned and this increase of faith is happening as we come to a place of DEEP REST. We don't change the subject despite what our eyes see, we come into a deeper realm of settledness of who He is and the POWER of His Word.
The Lord is bringing His people into this deeper realm of rest and confident faith in Him and His Word, for it is IN THIS GROUND OF DEEPER REST that He is preparing His people for the greatest move of His Spirit, revival and awakening that they have seen.
The remnant of resters are arising and with them are coming angels of alignment to shift the body of Christ into a deeper level of intimacy and seeing Him and higher level of faith to believe for the impossible and take the Kingdom by force. It's time for the remnant of resters to arise!
