Cities Of Refuge: Why Are People Creating Hundreds Of Places Of Refuge All Over America? - Michael Snyder THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG
Posted: 28 Feb 2016 Michael Snyder THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG
All over the United States, cities of refuge are being created. Now when I say “cities”, I don’t mean vast areas of land that can hold hundreds of thousands or millions of people. Rather, I am talking about much smaller places of refuge that can accommodate dozens or hundreds of people. In a few cases, I know of places of refuge that will be able to take in thousands of people, but that is about as big as they get.
There are individuals all across America that have specifically felt called to build communities where large numbers of people will be able to gather when society totally collapses. So why is this happening? Why do so many people feel such an urgency to create cities of refuge that would presumably never be used if we don’t ever see full-blown societal breakdown?
In the headline, I claimed that hundreds of these “cities of refuge” are being created, but the truth is that it could easily be thousands. I have personally talked to countless numbers of people that are like my wife and I and are planning to be able to take in members of their own extended families when things get really crazy. But there are others that are taking things to an entirely different level.
I was recently contacted by a man in New York state that plans to convert a hotel and surrounding facilities into a place of refuge that could potentially accommodate hundreds of people for an extended period of time. I know of a ranch in southern Idaho where the staff has been feverishly preparing to take in thousands of people when society starts completely falling apart. And I have corresponded with so many others both inside the United States and outside the country that are creating these types of communities.
It has been estimated that there are three million preppers in America today. But those that are creating these places of refuge are not just “prepping” for themselves. Instead, they feel called to prepare a place of safety where others will be able to gather when times get really crazy.
Due to the wide reach of my articles, I have had a lot of people involved in these communities reach out to me over time. Some have graciously let my wife and I know that there is a place for us if needed during a major emergency, and others have wanted for us to become personally involved in what they are doing. I wish that I could get involved in all of them, but there is a limit to what any one of us can do. But I always encourage people to keep pressing forward with their preparations, because without a doubt they will be needed someday.
In addition to what is happening inside the United States, there are others that have already left this country and are creating places of refuge abroad. There are people that are doing this in South America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East.
And of course every “place of refuge” looks different. As I mentioned above, some plan on transforming existing hotels or ranches into places of refuge. Others plan to use open land to host large numbers of RVs or to construct vast tent cities.
But there are five big things that all places of refuge need to be thinking about…
1. Food – It is going to take vast quantitites of food to even feed dozens of people. When you are talking about hundreds or thousands of people, the amount of food required for a place of refuge will be off the charts.
2. Water – None of us can live without water, and it has been estimated that the average American uses 80 to 100 gallons of water every single day. Of course we would all use a lot less during an emergency situation, but if your “place of refuge” does not have easy access to water that could become a major problem very rapidly.
3. Shelter – It is nice to think that you are going to take in a lot of people, but where are all of them going to sleep? Most people don’t think of mattresses or cots as “survival items”, but the truth is that they are going to be greatly in demand when things get crazy.
4. Power – If the electricity goes off and stays off for an extended period of time, what are you going to do? How will people stay warm, how will you cook food, and how will your community function without any artificial light whatsoever? Having an alternative source of power for your place of refuge is very important.
5. Security – If there was a full-blown collapse of society, any place that still has ample resources is automatically going to become a target. So it is great if you have everything that your community will need, but if you have no way to protect it you can end up losing it all very quickly.
For even more tips on preparing for what is ahead, please see my recent article entitled “70 Tips That Will Help You Survive What Is Going To Happen To America“.
There are a lot of preppers out there that are only preparing for themselves and their immediate families, and anyone else that comes looking for assistance when things get really hard will end up looking down the barrel of a shotgun.
But there are so many others that feel called by God to prepare a place for large numbers of people to gather during the coming storm. They are doing this by faith, because such places have never been needed before in modern American history. Perhaps if you go all the way back to the Great Depression of the 1930s you could find large groups of people that needed somewhere to go, but since that time we have generally been regarded as the wealthiest and most prosperous nation on the entire planet.
Unfortunately, things are rapidly changing in this country. Our economy is in the process of crumbling, there is evidence of social decay all around us, natural disasters are increasing in frequency and intensity, and World War 3 could erupt in the Middle East at any time.
If I am right, the time when these cities of refuge will be needed is not that far away.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of Americans are not preparing for what is ahead, and so most of them will be absolutely devastated by the great trials that are directly ahead of us.

Michael Snyder - Los Angeles Police Urge Residents ‘To Protect Themselves’ As Violent Crime Skyrockets - THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG
Posted: 01 Feb 2016 Michael Snyder THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG
All over America, rates of violent crime are absolutely soaring. As you will see below, violent crime overall shot up by 20 percent in Los Angeles last year, and the police are telling people that “they need to be able to protect themselves” because the police may not be able to get there in time when they call.
Thanks to deep budget cuts, police departments across the nation are already severely undermanned, and our major cities are now seeing crime rates increase at a pace that we have not seen in ages. In a previous article, I encouraged my readers to focus on the five basics of preparation – food, water, shelter, energy and self-defense. Of those five, it is often self-defense that is the most neglected. When bad people break into your house in the middle of the night intending to do bad things, what are you going to do? Many of us have not had to think about that for a long time, but now conditions are rapidly changing in America.
If you don’t believe me, perhaps you will believe the head of the union for the LAPD. According to him, people living in L.A. “need to be able to protect themselves” because the police “can’t guarantee we’re going to get there in time to help you”…
I have, and even in the best of times it can be quite a mean place.
And of course these are not the best of times. In fact, the overall rate of violent crime in the city was up by 20 percent last year…
Well, let’s go from the second largest city in the country to the third largest city in the country.
There were 51 homicides in Chicago last month, which was the highest total for the city in at least 16 years. Sadly, this is just a continuation of a trend that has been going on for quite some time. The following comes from USA Today…
To do something so despicable your heart has got to be hard as a stone.
What in the world has happened to the morality of our society?
And to me, one of the biggest questions of this entire story is why the father decided to walk away from his daughter.
If I was in the same position, I would have stood my ground. Maybe those young men would have shot me, but there is no way that I would have ever let them have my daughter. They would have had to go over my dead body to get to her.
But this is what we are told to do today. We are told to let the criminals do whatever they want and then call the police.
Unfortunately, now the police are openly telling us that they probably won’t be able to get there in time to do any good.
As the economy slows down, crime rates are going to go even higher. When unemployment and poverty rise, people get desperate, and desperate people do desperate things.
We all need to start thinking about how we are going to protect ourselves and our families during the hard times that are coming. Different people have different methods that they prefer, and that is okay. But we are all going to have to start taking security a lot more seriously.

“The citizens need to know they need to be able to protect themselves because if they call 911, we can’t guarantee we’re going to get there in time to help you,” says Police Protective League President Jamie McBride.Have you ever been to Los Angeles?
He told Paige that Thursday morning between 5:30 and 10 a.m., there were just three patrol cars assigned to the West LA division. Two cars to protect more than 200,000 people in a 65 square mile radius.
“West Los Angeles, at the minimum, should have seven patrol units, two-man units working,” McBride said.
I have, and even in the best of times it can be quite a mean place.

Crime is up across the board in the nation’s second-largest city.Perhaps you are tempted to think that L.A. is just an anomaly.
Statistics released Wednesday by the Los Angeles Police Department show that homicides and rapes are each up 9 percent and that robberies are up 13 percent. Violent crime overall increased by 20 percent.
Well, let’s go from the second largest city in the country to the third largest city in the country.
There were 51 homicides in Chicago last month, which was the highest total for the city in at least 16 years. Sadly, this is just a continuation of a trend that has been going on for quite some time. The following comes from USA Today…
Chicago routinely records more homicides annually than any other American city, but the grim January violence toll marks a shocking spike in violence in a city that recorded 29 murders for the month of January last year and 20 murders for the month in 2014. In addition to the jump in killings, police department said that it recorded 241 shooting incidents for the month, more than double the 119 incidents recorded last January. Some of the crimes that I have been seeing in the news lately are almost too horrible for words. If reading about acts of violence deeply troubles you, then you might want to stop reading this article right now. I want to share with you something that recently happened in New York City, and it is the kind of stuff that nightmares are made out of…
The rise in violence comes after the Chicago Police Department reported 468 murders in 2015, a 12.5% increase from the year before. There were also 2,900 shootings, 13% more than the year prior, according to police department records.
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio on Sunday denounced the rape of a woman by five men at a Brooklyn playground, pledging police would work to swiftly apprehend the suspects in “this vicious crime.”One rapist is bad enough, but how do five young men come together and decide that they are going to randomly rape someone?
Police said on Saturday the men took turns raping the 18-year-old woman at the playground operated by the New York City Parks Department in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn just after 9 p.m. on Thursday. One man pointed a gun at the father and told him to leave, police said.
After the father left, the men each assaulted the woman, police said. They fled when her father returned a short while later, accompanied by two officers.
To do something so despicable your heart has got to be hard as a stone.
What in the world has happened to the morality of our society?
And to me, one of the biggest questions of this entire story is why the father decided to walk away from his daughter.

Derek Prince - Devotional: A Rushing Torrent - DEREK PRINCE MINISTRIES
January 25, 2016
A Rushing Torrent Psalm 126:4
Restore our fortunes, O Lord, like the streams in the Negev. NIV
There’s a prayer from God’s people for restoration. The picture there is very vivid, if you’re familiar with the Negev. The word that’s translated “streams” in Arabic is a wadi. A wadi is something special that’s found mainly in the Middle East. It’s a riverbed, which is dry most of the year. You can see that water has flowed in it, but when rain has not fallen within a few days it dries up and you just have the evidence that water once flowed in it.
And so God’s people there in that prayer view themselves like one of those dry riverbeds in the Negev, the desert of the south of Israel. But their prayer is that God will restore them like the streams in the Negev. Such a vivid picture, because at certain seasons when there’s rainfall in the Negev it comes copiously, abundantly, and in a few hours what was a dry riverbed is transformed into an overflowing, torrential stream that sweeps everything before it, sometimes washing away bridges, even causing serious accidents, washing cars away so that where just a few hours previously there was nothing but dust and dryness, there’s a rushing torrent. And their inspired prayer is that God would restore His people like that stream in the Negev – that though we’ve been dry and dusty without much evidence of water, suddenly God is going to visit us and send such a visitation of His Spirit that it will be like a rushing torrent that will sweep all obstacles before it.

Why, Oh Why All the Delays? Fear Not! The Encourager Hears You! by Mary Lindow - Identity Network
Why, Oh Why All the Delays? Fear Not! The Encourager Hears You! by Mary Lindow - Identity Network
A Prophetic Word of Hope
I have an unusual stirring in my spirit from the Holy Spirit as I write this message.
The Lord is revealing a sound in the earth coming from the hearts and deep cries of so many of His people right now. Perhaps it might even be you as you read. There is a cry of hunger for His sure, safe, presence in difficult times and in changing times.
A Need for "Quiet"
The world and it's voices of influence, humanistic subtleties, and constant technology and it's sounds, bring about an overload of weariness to all people, and there is a greater need for a place of rest for the warriors of truth who are very aware of the pressures that have not stopped mounting for many years now.
There is much treachery occurring in the evil plans of darkness and the people held captive by it these days.
It can bring a real sense of despair, broken heartedness, and shock when you encounter this type of thing and when it attempts to destroy your hope and confidence in what the Lord Jesus has set you apart for to express in His Power and in His name.
Why, Oh Why All the Delays?
I don't know fully why it seems as if good people who are sincere and pure hearted seem to go through more persecution and repeated difficulty than those who seem to be the ones perpetuating the majority of it!!
So many right now are nearly at their wits end waiting for God to relieve them of sorrow, disillusionment and battle fatigue!
"My soul faints with longing for your rescue, but I have put my hope in your word." Psalm 119:81
Fear Not! The Encourager Hears You!
"You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; You encourage them, and you listen to their cry." Psalm 10:17
What is this verse saying to you and I right now?
It is saying that the Lord Himself will encourage us!
That is why we must continue to fight for that place of Divine "refuge," that "get away from it all" place of craving and longing for His comfort.
He knows our hurt, our loneliness, our scorched and heart torn issues!
He understands how agonizing and bled out we can get when it seems as if battle after battle we begin to wonder if something might be wrong with us!
"Hope delayed makes the heart sick, but when dreams come true, there is life and joy."Proverbs 13:12 (NAT)
Nothing can Satisfy Dry Lips Like Water!
We are in a time where no persons opinions, no one's books, no one's TV shows are going to satisfy that craving, that need for a thirst quenching drink of companionship with God.
We long to hear words from someone that tell us everything is going to be all right! That our children will be safe, our homes protected, our basic needs provided! And yet! Nothing "out there" satisfies us fully!
You See Dear Beloved One….
…The season of great hunger for the simple walk with Jesus has blossomed!
Only time spent with him like a dear friend will fill the gaping ache you have. He will speak, He will comfort, and He will show you what is true and what is false in the days ahead if you will return to that Place of companionship with Him, away from the opinions of men and the noise of this life.
"Every word you give me is a miracle word - how could I help but obey? Break open your words, let the light shine out. Let ordinary people see the meaning.
Mouth open and panting, I wanted your commands more than anything.
Turn my way, look kindly on me, as you always do to those who personally love you." Psalm 119:129-131 (The Message)
A Prophetic Whisper to Your Heart from the Savior
"To know of My ways, you must know ME! To Know Me, you must spend time with ME. To spend time with Me, you must purpose, to put aside the lists of things you have to do, before you can spend time with Me."
"Order you days first in My Presence, and watch the desires of your heart be fulfilled. Man and his counsel will always fall short of the full truth of My Wisdom. I have blueprints and a Master plan for so many things yet to build upon in your life."
"Come. Let us talk again together."
"You are the temple, the house of My Holy Spirit. I desire to build you up in spiritual strength as you walk in prayer conversations with me. I will fulfill your longing for peace and direction as you step up again into a heavenly trust and rest."
"People will change, man will fail you, friends will turn, if they are not seeking My Voice above the clamor of the day. And you My child will fail others, if you listen to your own voice of reason and intelligence. As you turn to Me, you will see My compassion poured out upon you and you will then have My power of pure godly compassion and wisdom driven grace to pour out on others."
"I too, long for you as well! Seek Me with all of your heart, your longings, your heartaches, your dreams. And I will be there with arms of strength to rescue you from despair."
"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13
"The LORD is good to those, whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him."Lamentations 3:25
