Does the Promised Land Still Belong to the Jewish People? - SAM NADLER CHARISMA NEWS

Does the Promised Land still belong to the Jewish people?

Today there are many different opinions regarding critical issues about Israel and the Jewish people, even among believers. Many have questions such as:
1. "Can a religious Jewish person be saved apart from faith in Yeshua?"
2. "Are the Jewish people still the 'chosen people'?"
3. "Does the promised land (Israel) still belong to the Jewish people?"
Such questions tend to create a spiritual ambiguity in the minds of many, which produces an uncertain rather than fervent witness to the Jewish people. As believers, this brings us to a foundational issue: the need for proper discipleship concerning God's promises, plan and purpose for the Jewish people according to His Word.
Let us now look to this plumb line for our faith in order to help clarify the issues raised by these three questions:
1. "Can a religious Jewish person be saved apart from faith in Yeshua?" No. No matter how religious, no one can be forgiven of their sins and accepted by God without personal faith in Yeshua. It was to Jewish men that Yeshua spoke when He said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6). Think of it this way: If there were some other way for Jewish people, or any people, to be saved other than through faith in Yeshua, then God the Father would have been a fool for letting His Son die on a cross! If keeping the Law of Moses could save people, Yeshua would have told people to keep the Law. But instead, Yeshua declared that Jewish people and all people need to trust in Him: "If you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me" (John 5:46).
2. "Are the Jewish people still the 'chosen people'?" Yes, according to the Law of Moses (Deut. 7:6; 14:2), the Prophets (Is. 41:8; Amos 3:2), the Writings (Ps. 33:12; 135:4), and the New Covenant (Rom. 9:3-5, 11:1-2). But isn't the body of Messiah called a chosen people as well? Yes, 1 Peter 2:9 declares all believers in Yeshua to be "a chosen generation (or people), a royal priesthood." However, please note that Peter refers to the body of Messiah as "a chosen people," but not as "the chosen people." Though Israel is chosen for a specific purpose (see next question), during this time of Israel's national unbelief, they are "sidelined" from being God's instrument of service until they return to God and confess Yeshua as the Messiah (Matt. 23:39; Hosea 5:15).
For the present time, the body of Messiah is the spiritually active instrument of ministry, "a royal priesthood" for service and worship. Though Israel is chosen to be a "witness people" for the Lord (Is. 43:10-12, 44:8), they cannot be an active witness until they first believe in Yeshua as Lord (Rom. 10:14, 15). Israel is chosen as a people for God's purpose, which, in the past, was to bring Messiah into the world (Rom. 9:5), and in the future, to bring about the return of Messiah to planet earth (Matt. 23:39; Zech. 12:10). This will happen when the Jewish people collectively confess their national sin of rejecting Messiah (Is. 53). Though nationally chosen for God's purpose, each individual Jewish person still has to have personal faith in God's salvation on God's terms to be saved. Otherwise they are as lost and unsaved as any pagan (Jer. 9:25, 26).
3. "Does the promised land (Israel) still belong to the Jewish people?" Yes! The present spiritual condition of Israel does not change the promises of God, for even though Israel is nationally unfaithful, He is still faithful. This is Paul's argument in Romans 11:1-2, where he writes, "I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite. ... God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew." Israel returned to the land after the Babylonian exile, but that wasn't to be their last return. In fact, Isaiah prophesies Israel's return to the same land for the second time in Isaiah 11:11-12: "Then it will happen on that day that the Lord will again recover the second time with His hand the remnant of His people ... from the four corners of the earth."  The Jewish people's present return to the land is the fulfillment of this promise in Isaiah.
Now this doesn't mean that everything the present Israeli government does is praiseworthy, but it does mean that Israel is entitled to the land, and that we, as believers, must support them in this. Even though this and their status as the chosen people remains unchanged, each Jewish person can only be saved through personal faith in Messiah. For all people, Jew and Gentile, Israeli and Palestinian, there is no peace apart from the Prince of Peace.
By understanding these critical, sometimes volatile issues, and having biblical answers to address them, believers in Messiah can have a boldness and confidence to share their faith with Jewish people. Outside of God's miraculous, heart-changing power found in the Good News, there is no solution to the present and future problems we see in the Middle East, and the world.
So get involved! Share this with your friends! You can help get the message out. Since God has not forsaken the Jewish people, let us not forsake our responsibility to proclaim Yeshua to Jewish people.

Israeli Unity? Only in Times of Crisis

Israeli Unity? Only in Times of Crisis

Tuesday, July 28, 2015 |  Israel Today Staff
The results of a new survey published by Israel’s Ynet news portal this week suggest that Israelis are united only in times of crisis, such as wars or other disasters, and that the norm for the Jewish state is division and internal conflict. This is especially true when considering the secular-religious split.
The survey was conducted to mark Tisha B’Av, the solemn fast day held this week in commemoration of the destruction of Jerusalem’s Temple, considered a divine punishment for division within Israel.
While the results painted a fairly bleak picture, they also provided reason for optimism.
Participants in the survey were asked how much attention they pay to the various divisions between Israel’s Jews. A 45–46 percent plurality said that religious and economic divisions were of great concern to them, while 44 percent said that the ethnic divide between Ashkenazi (western) and Mizrahi (eastern) Jews was of little importance.
Deeper analysis revealed that the religious divide between “secular” and ultra-Orthodox Israelis was of much greater importance to secular and traditional Jews than it was to the ultra-Orthodox community.
A full 80 percent from all societal groups recognized that Israel as a people are only united in times of crisis, and a 41.5 percent plurality expect the situation to get worse.
One of the biggest contributing factors to this is a lack of willingness to integrate between the groups. While daily contact is frequent in such a small country, the survey found that, for instance, both secular and ultra-Orthodox Israeli Jews are largely to marry someone from the “other” side. When it came to doing business together or living in close proximity, both sides were a little more tolerant.
On a positive note, a 43 percent plurality of Bible-believing religious Israelis (situated somewhere between “secular” and ultra-Orthodox) expect the situation to improve. Furthermore, most of the respondents from all sectors agreed that despite the differences, the Jews of Israel are in this together, and that their shared heritage does provide common ground for unity, even if only temporarily.
Asked how to solve this problem, 40 percent wanted better education on the topic, while 23 percent called for increased dialogue.
Ilan Gal-Dor, director of the “Gesher” research institute that conducted the survey concluded optimistically: “The results indicate a willingness for dialogue amongst the different sectors. However, there is much work before us. We [Israelis] attach great importance to dialogue and understanding between ourselves as a nation, in service to a better common future - especially [considering the lessons] of Tisha B’Av.”

VIDEO: What Jews Endure on the Temple Mount - ISRAEL TODAY

JerusaleWhen a group of easily identifiable religious Jews is actually allowed to ascend Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, the reaction of Muslim worshippers typically borders on open violence.
Jews (and Christians) are often prevented by Israeli police from entering the Temple Mount compound for fear of Muslim hostility. And even when groups are granted entry, most are not easily identifiable as Jews (most Orthodox Jews believe it is wrong to ascend the Temple Mount lest they inadvertently enter the area of the “Holy of Holies”).
But every once in a while, an Orthodox Jewish group will visit Judaism’s holiest site. And when they do, the Jews’ treatment at the hands of the adherents of the so-called “Religion of Peace” is simply disgraceful.
In the following video, one such group can be seen being harassed and even assaulted by a large Muslim mob, as Israeli police officers try desperately to maintain order. Among the group of Jewish visitors are a number of children, who are various points in the video can be seen crying and fearfully clinging to their parents.
One of the adults in the group tries to calm the children by saying, “Don’t be afraid! Don’t be afraid! This is our place!”
The incident was filmed and uploaded to YouTube by a Temple Mount movement headed by Linda Olmert, the sister-in-law of recently convicted former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. Linda recently spoke to Israel Today about the situation for Jews on the Temple Mount.
Linda Olmert’s interview appears in the May issue of Israel Today Magazine. SUBSCRIBE NOW to read it!

Israel Media Ministries - Reaching Religious Jews Together - Ze'ev Nevo

    Ze'ev Nevo, Founder

Reaching Religious Jews Together

Shalom! Did you know that there are religious Jews that believe in Jesus? Yes there are! We can find them in Israel, the US and around the world - and with God's grace and your prayers and support, many more are coming!

Now that all the presents have been opened, the tree is back in storage and Santa Claus has left the building, it's time to refocus on the great commission that God gave us all - to reach the lost with the greatest gift of all - the message of salvation through Jesus!

I am excited to tell you that 2014 will be a great year for the Gospel. A few months ago Israel Media Ministries has begun working on a new big outreach to the religious Jews. This will be the most comprehensive evangelistic outreach that we did so far. I am so blessed and humbled to work on this project with Dr. Michael Brown, who is widely considered the world's foremost Messianic Jewish apologist.

Dr. Michael Brown

Dr. Brown, who is also graciously serving on our Board of Directors, had a tremendous contribution to the fact that my own father, Joseph, came to faith in Jesus, when he was over 80 years old.

That priceless moment happened just about 18 months before my dad passed and went to be with the Lord. There is no doubt in my mind that my dad's salvation was also instrumental to the salvation of my mom, Ruth, a few years later in 2012. I say all this for you to get a sense of how much I appreciate the apologetic work of Dr. Michael Brown and how it is being used by God for reaching the Jewish people for Jesus - even the most Orthodox Jews you can imagine.

My dad was raised as an Orthodox Jew. After losing his entire family in the Holocaust, he kind of lost faith in God and became secular. It was late in his seventies when I, his only son, came to faith in Jesus.

My dad had many objections to my new faith, many Jewish Objections. You can envision how thrilled I was when I found about a man named Dr. Brown, a Jewish follower of Jesus himself, who wrote a series of books called "Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus." To me, it was like I found a treasure! Finally - answers to every possible Jewish objection to Jesus. What depth! What knowledge of the scriptures and the Jewish belief system! How courageous!!

First I presented to my dad just one of the books (there are 5 total.) Even though it was in English and not in Hebrew, my dad read it from front to back. He simply couldn't put the book down. When my dad turned 80 I knew exactly what gift I should give him... and when I handed him the other 4 books in the series, my dad looked at me and said: "You couldn't have given me a better gift!" I am sure you can imagine how encouraging it was for me to hear that!!

My dad continued to read Dr. Brown's books; very diligently, very consistently, contemplating on one Jewish objection after the other. At the same time someone came up to me with a great idea - "maybe you can reach Dr. Brown and ask him if he will be willing to speak on the phone with your dad?" I was able to contact Dr. Brown through another evangelist that I was serving with.

When Dr. Brown heard that there is an 80 years old Jewish Holocaust survivor in Israel who is reading his books with great appreciation while fighting cancer - he obviously agreed wholeheartedly. A date and a time were set for Dr. Brown to call from the US to Israel and speak with my dad. It was during that telephone conversation when my father said for the first time "I am convinced that Yeshua is the Messiah!"

A few years later, I met Dr. Brown personally for the first time when he visited Israel. God's timing in arranging this meeting was absolutely amazing. It was shortly after my family and I moved to the US to start Israel Media Ministries. I was still in the process of obtaining a US permanent residency. For that I had to go back to Israel for an interview with the US counselor in Jerusalem.

There was no telling when this interview will be, so we already moved to the US, waiting for an official letter from the counselor's office. Obviously, I had zero control on the date this meeting in Israel will take place - but God sure did!

When the letter arrived, I jumped on a plane back to Israel. The first thing I did when I arrived to Israel was to call a couple of friends of mine who pastor a congregation in Jerusalem. "This is interesting timing," they said, "Do you know who is in Israel now? Dr. Brown. He is teaching our group in just a few days. Why don't you join us?"

And so I did. It was only then when I met Dr. Brown that I realized that his ministry center is in the Charlotte area... just about 30 minutes' drive from where we moved to ourselves!!

The following day I was invited to a dinner in the Jerusalem area to which Dr. Brown was invited too. As all of us held hands and prayed before the meal, I knew without a shadow of a doubt that I received a word from the Lord. When I overcame my shyness (being the youngest) I shared it with all that were there. Dr. Brown asked me more specifically what I meant and had a witness that it is indeed from the Lord.

That was the day that the vision for this evangelistic project was conceived. It was just over three years ago. That's quite a long "pregnancy" but it will be well worth the wait. As I am writing these lines to you this vision is becoming reality - and in a few months it will be born! I trust that many Jews, including many Orthodox Jews, will come to faith in Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) and be born again into the Kingdom of God. God's Word never returns void!! (Isaiah 55.11)

There is still a lot of work to be done for this big project to be completed, as the plan is to have it in multiple languages to enable us to reach Jewish people in their own heart language, whatever their background is and whenever they are on the globe.

There is also a lot of work to be done in general terms when it comes to Jewish evangelism, as only a very small percentage of the Jewish people believe in Jesus. Well over 99% of us Jews are still waiting for someone to come and share the Gospel with us.

"...my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal in not based on knowledge... How will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?" (Romans 10:1-2, 14)
