Divine Feasting on Holy Land Flavors ✡ "The Fruit of the Land" - ISRAEL365

Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto Hashem seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.

Today's Israel Inspiration

There is an inherent lesson as to what constitutes true beauty in the eyes of God and we learn this from the very special Etrog (citron fruit) which is waved together with the Lulav each year on the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. In Leviticus 23:40, God instructs the people to take a "beautiful tree", in Hebrew "Hadar". Explains the Talmud, the word "dar" is close to the English word "endure" and therefore must apply to a fruit which perseveres against the odds. Though many fruits are seasonal, only the Etrog endures throughout the year, growing and blossoming throughout all seasons, hot and cold. Its persistence and determination to thrive is what makes the fruit truly beautiful. Similarly, the olive oil used in the Menorah of the Temple, once beaten, pressed and purified, gives off what the Bible describes as an eternal light (Leviticus 24:2), and has, as well, become a symbol of endurance throughout the generations. Just like the Etrog and olive oil represent fortitude, so too the people of Israel will continue to rise above the cruelty of her enemies and will forever magnificently shine brighter than ever.

How Divine Feasting Can Bring Paradise

Eating is not only for pleasure, but also serves the spiritual purpose to nourish both our bodies and souls, the way God intended.

Why The Israel Bible?

The Israel Bible highlights God's love for the Land of Israel, with its Hebrew-English layout, selected transliterated verses and unique Israel centered commentary on each and every chapter! The Israel Bible makes it so obvious that the Land of Israel is God's chosen land, the land He gave to the children of Israel. Now more than ever, when the world wants to deny this very connection (just look at the recent UNESCO resolution for an example!) The Israel Bible is a necessity!!

Today's Israel Photo

The rich yellow color of the etrog (citron fruit) truly stands out among the greenery of the Lulav, in the same way the Land of Israel captures God's attention above all the countries of the world. How much more so when the fruit itself grows in the very soil of God's forever light!

Yesterday's Photo Trivia

Every year on Sukkot, thousands of people from all over the world gather at the Western Wall for the priestly blessing, known as the Cohen Benediction. The event, which took place this very morning in Jerusalem, is truly spectacular and is a tremendous way to fulfill the commandment to be joyous on this holday!

I love Israel, but live in the UK and last visited Israel 40 years ago, though I intend to come back one day soon and bring my husband who has never visited the beautiful Yisroel. Your daily emails keep me connected so that I can feel part of what is going on in Israel even from so far away. Keep up the good work. G'mar Chativah Tovah.
