The Seder Plate is the focal point of the proceedings on the first two nights of Passover. Whether it is an ornate silver dish or something more humble, the Seder Plate holds the ceremonial foods eaten during the Passover meal; matzah, shankbone, egg, bitter herbs, charoset paste and karpas vegetable. Preparing all of these ritual foods can take some time, so it is recommended to begin the preparations a day or two before the holiday begins. Each of the foods on the Seder Plate also has a deeper, spiritual significance. Watch this video to learn the meaning behind the foods which appear on the Seder Plate.
