What is the Meaning Behind the Mezuzah? ✡ "Thou Shall Write Them" - ISRAEL365

And thou shalt write them upon the door-posts
of thy house, and upon thy gates.

Today's Israel Inspiration

During his last speech to the Israelites before they were to enter the Holy Land after a 40 year journey across the Sinai desert, Moses taught the people of the commandment that every door-post (in Hebrew, mezuzah) in the house should be adorned with a scroll on which is written the Shema prayer, a constant reminder of God's presence in the home. Jews all over the world fulfill this mitzvah (commandment) by affixing a mezuzah scroll, protected by a case, to every door-post in the house. Keep the mitzvah alive with our stunning mezuzah cases!

Due to the desert climate, snow is a rare sight in the Land of Israel. But every so often, the winter skies unleash a stormy, wintery blast leaving behind white flakes as far as the eye can see!

Find Out What's Inside a Mezuzah ✡ "Upon the Doorposts" - ISRAEL365

Jerusalem Inspiration

Do you know the reason we affix a mezuzah to every doorpost in a Jewish home?  The mezuzah reminds us that God surrounds our home and brings protection and peace to those inside.  When we put up a mezuzah, it lies on a slant, leaning towards the entryway. This detail is very significant.  Peace resides only when there is compromise and people are willing to bend, and that is what the mezuzah's slant comes to teach us!  Infuse peace into your home with a beautiful mezuzah from Israel.

This is Why We LOVE the Hebrew Language! ✡ "Upon the Doorposts of Thy House"- ISRAEL365

And thou shall write them upon the doorposts of thy house, and upon thy gates.

וּכְתַבְתָּם עַל מְזֻזוֹת בֵּיתֶךָ וּבִשְׁעָרֶיךָ

דברים ו:ט

Shabbat Inspiration

Here's why we love the Hebrew language! In Hebrew, a human dwelling is called a "dirah", while an animal dwelling is called a "dir". The difference between these two words is the letter "hey" which represents the name of God. The Almighty's presence in our homes is what characterizes us as distinctively human, spiritual beings. As a reminder of God's protection, we place a mezuzah on the doorposts of our homes, just as commanded in today's verse.

What's Inside a Mezuzah?

You see it on doorposts around the world, but what is inside the mezuzah? Find out in this entertaining and informative video!

Your chance to grace your home with blessing!

Having a Mezuzah on your doorpost reminds you to always be conscious of the fact that there is one God which we are commanded to love with all of our heart. The Mezuzah will serve as a spiritual reminder for all those who enter and exit your home.
