Christians Urged to Share God's Love 'Where there are no Believers, no Bibles and no churches' 05-31-2017 - CBN News George Thomas

Christians Urged to Share God's Love 'Where there are no Believers, no Bibles and no churches'

CBN's Sr International Correspondent George Thomas interviews Christian artist and American Idol finalist Phil Stacey to see why he is lending his voice to the prayer initiative.
"If a commission by an earthly king is considered a honor, how can a commission by a Heavenly King be considered a sacrifice?" asked David Livingstone, the famed Scottish medical missionary and explorer to Africa.
Livingstone was referencing the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20, when Jesus told his followers:
In Our Hands: The Battle for Jerusalem. Get Tickets

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

More than 2,000 years after Christ's ministry on earth, about one-quarter of the world's population has yet to hear of the love, forgiveness and grace of Jesus Christ.
"With more than 2 billion people who haven't had a chance to meet Jesus, it's time … to take a radical stand and say 'This has to end in our generation," said Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback church in California.
On June 4, which also happens to be Pentecost Sunday, the Alliance for the Unreached is calling on churches, media outlets, and believers around the world to come together to reach out to those who have never heard the Gospel.

"Just as the Book of Acts records that people from all over the world were there that day, we are expecting a global gathering," said Wayne Pederson, chairman of the Alliance for the Unreached. "And we hope for a similar empowering of the Holy Spirit to take the message of the good news to those who are 'far off,' as the apostle Peter said when he spoke that day."
Pederson's group is organizing a virtual "Upper Room" gathering on that day by hosting a "Facebook LIVE for the Unreached!" on June 4 at 7:00PM ET.
The event will be hosted at www.facebook.com/dayfortheunreached and feature a message by David Platt, author and president of the Southern Baptist Convention's International Missions Board, plus music from Christian recording artist Phil Stacey.
"Jesus told his earliest followers to pray for more workers to go into the harvest field, and we hope that many thousands will join us in doing that on June 4," Pederson said in a statement.
"So many unreached people groups across the globe are still waiting to hear the good news of the Gospel.  We want as many people as possible to experience the privilege of responding to their need."
The Alliance for the Unreached has designated June 4 as the International Day for the Unreached and hopes the initiative will "educate, inspire and motivate believers in North America to take a stand on behalf of those who have yet to hear the Good News."
The group claims in a press release that "while there is support for missions work in many countries, currently only 5 percent of missionaries are serving among the world's least evangelized.
And their efforts receive only 0.5 percent of American evangelicals' giving."

The International Day for the Unreached was started in 2016 to rally the global church to share God's love "where there are no believers, no bibles and no churches."
"There is no more pressing need than a greater focus on the unreached peoples of our world," said Platt.
Those planning to participate in the initiative are also urged to adopt and share the "Manifesto for the Unreached"-- as a way of praying and supporting the work of global missions.

Church of God's Jordan Smith Takes Home 'The Voice' Crown - JESSILYN JUSTICE CHARISMA NEWS

Church of God's Jordan Smith Takes Home 'The Voice' Crown

Join us on our podcast each weekday for an interesting story, well told, from Charisma News. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

Church of God Lee University's Jordan Smith is now The Voice champion.
"For all of us at Lee this has been a fun experience, watching the world encounter Jordan's talent. It's also been a source of pride that Jordan has stayed true to his calling. That is something we try to model for our students every day, so watching Jordan live it on national television has been deeply gratifying," Lee University Vice President for University Relations Jerome Hammond says.
While at Lee, Smith is part of the Lee Singers, directed by Brad Moffett.
"(Jordan's) singing gift was really honed because of his faith and worship life," Moffett says. "Singing in church is where he first started singing, and in a lot of ways, you can't separate Jordan's singing from his faith, no matter what he's singing. For someone like Jordan, singing is an expression of Jordan's spirituality, so much a part of who he is (is) tied directly to his faith, it's hard to separate his craft, his artistry from his spirituality and faith."
When Smith auditioned for The Voice earlier this year, he stunned judges with his performance of Sia's "Chandelier."
Smith joined Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine's team after Levine declared him the "most important person to ever be on this show," after Smith's audition.
In his run on the show, Smith's songs have frequently topped iTunes charts, knocking Adele's "Hello" off her No. 1 spot on multiple occasions.
Smith's rendition of "Mary Did You Know" is currently the No. 1 single on the iTunes chart, and two of his other songs round out the top five.

When Smith performed "Mary Did You Know," some Lee students and alumni were skeptical, as the song is frequently performed in Lee chapels. But Smith won them over.
"Not only did Jordan Smith prove that he deserves to win 'The Voice' tonight, but he also redeemed 'Mary Did You Know' for all the Lee peeps in the process," student Drenda Butler posted on Facebook.
"Jordan Smith singer, evangelist, humble celebrity, beautiful soul just informed America what Christmas is about and they are literally buying it on iTunes. Some things are more important than winning a TV music competition. Brad Moffett you've helped instill Christian artistry in that young man. Well done!" Professor Jeff Salyer posted on Facebook.
When Smith was announced winner, Lee University President Paul Conn tweeted: "What an exciting night for Jordan Smith and Lee people everywhere! He was terrific on stage and in every way! I'm a proud Prez!"
Smith is far from the first Lee student/graduate to be recognized for vocal talent. Recent graduate Clark Beckham took second in American Idol in the most recent season.
Lee grad and American Idol alum Phil Stacey commended Smith on social media.
"From someone who has been on a tv talent show: There has never been anyone more dominant in their respective season. Not Carry, Not Kelly, not Chris... Jordan Smith was the clear winner from the moment of his audition," Stacey posted.
"Big congratulations to him on this amazing night. Congrats is also due to Lee University, who placed 2nd on Idol this year AND 1st on the Voice. You are a place where students can truly grow and develop their talent. And you have also helped instill great character in your students. So cool to watch all this go down," he wrote.
