A History Lesson You'll Never Forget ✡ "Set Aside a Portion for God" - ISRAEL365

It shall be that when you eat of the bread of the Land, you shall set aside a portion for God.

Today's Israel Inspiration

The Torah portion, which includes today's verse, contains the commandment to set aside a portion of one's bread to offer up as a gift to the priest in the Temple in Jerusalem. The nation relied on the priests for spiritual matters, and in turn, these servants of God relied on the nation for their physical sustenance through the gifts of the 'bread of the land'. Thus this symbiosis teaches us that in order to achieve both spiritual sustenance and physical nourishment, unity and partnership is of the utmost necessity. Colel Chabad, Israel's oldest charity, has taken this lesson and not only provides food and aid to underprivileged families, but also encourages attainment of spiritual goals and sponsors Jewish families who wish to more deeply connect with their roots.

A History Lesson We Can Still Learn From Today

Two-hundred and nineteen years ago, the first rebbe – founder and leader – of the Chabad Hassidic movement in Russia was miraculously released from jail. The repercussions of Rebbe’s imprisonment and release continue to affect the world, and the wellbeing of Jews in Israel even today.

Israel: Then and Now

A stunning look at Israel’s miraculous growth, change, development and life throughout the years – this will give you chills!

Rejoice and Give Thanks

Upon the miraculous exodus of the Israelite nation from their arduous lives of slavery in Egypt, the Egyptians, led by Pharaoh, attempted to pursue the Hebrews into the Red Sea. But with an almighty Hand, God destroyed the enemy, saving His nation from certain death. After witnessing yet another certain miracle, the women of the nation, led by Miriam the Prophetess, gathered their instruments and sang to their hearts' delight of the wonder of God's mighty Hand. Emulate Biblical times with this special instrument, and praise the Almighty for His never ending love and devotion to His beloved people!

Dear Rabbi, Just a note to let you know how much I love Israel 365.  I am a high school theology teacher and I teach World Religion. The bible passages are a great way for me to show my students the origins of some words but also the tutelage of why rituals are so important in the Jewish belief. Thank you and Shalom! --Michel R.
