Can This Film Overturn Supreme Court Ruling That's Killed 54 Million Babies?
STEPHEN STRANG  CHARISMA NEWS  Jan. 17, 2019
Since the Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, over 54 million babies have been aborted in the U.S. The country remains divided over the issue of abortion, making Roe v. Wade arguably the most controversial Supreme Court decision in history. Plenty of movies and documentaries have been made about the ruling, but a new movie coming out called Roe v. Wade may be the most pro-life depiction of the story yet. And even better, this film promises to tell the truth about what really happened.
I recently had the privilege of speaking with the film's producer, Nick Loeb, who tells me about the wake-up call he received when he discovered that the real story behind the abortion ruling was actually extremely pro-life. (David Benham recently shared with Charisma News the radical testimony of the woman behind the Roe v. Wade case.)
When someone asked Nick if he wanted to make a film about that Supreme Court decision, he thought, Why would I want to make a pro-choice film when I'm pro-life? But after reading 40 books about the ruling's history and studying stacks of court documents, Nick realized he had to make a movie about it. The film is still in post-production, and a potential screening is scheduled for the National Religious Broadcasters convention this summer. But a teaser trailer just came out, which you can watch here.
"We went out to make a Hollywood movie, not a small independent, preachy, pro-life film," Nick tells me. "It is full of action, suspense ... shootings. There are car chases, there's police, there's conspiracy. Compared to a lot of faith-based films out there today, we've got an incredible cast that all of us grew up with."

Nick is right. The film stars talented actors like Jon Voight, Robert Davi, Stacey Dash, Jamie Kennedy, Joey Lawrence, Corbin Bernsen, Steve Guttenberg and more.
Nick says the film is so powerful that even the editor, who is pro-choice, is reconsidering abortion. But as you can imagine, the film has already received some severe pushback. As Charisma News recently reported, difficulties included cast and crew walking off-set during production, Facebook prohibiting the production company from sharing information about the film and even a synagogue locking them out.
"It's a visceral topic," Nick says. "The country is divided on the issue. I think if we were making a pro-choice movie, we would get the same reaction from the pro-life side. The shoot was a little tumultuous. But we've also reaped the rewards of working for the right side. We had a lot of people who worked for free, we had people who gave money and donated, people who offered their homes for locations. We had an outpouring of support from people who believed in what we were doing."
Nick is clear about the film's goal—he wants it to stir people up to overturn the abortion ruling.
"So in 1989, there was a Supreme Court case, Planned Parenthood v. Casey, and this was going up to the Supreme Court," Nick says. "And as soon as this was in the works, Hollywood quickly went into action to make a pro-choice Roe v. Wade movie, with the goal of influencing the media influence the people to essentially influence the courts. And that was what they did. I mean, this is what they've been doing for years. And as you see in our movie, even for Roe, this is what a lot of the characters did during the movement. They utilized the media to achieve their goal in the courts. And so this is our time to use the media to achieve our goal in the courts. And at the end of the day—when people see the movie and realize how the case was decided, how it was affected and what really happened—people will be outraged and hoping to overturn Roe v. Wade."
I've seen the trailer, I've read the articles, and I know some of the people involved. So I'm very hopeful that this will be a big movie. But one thing is certain—it won't be big because of the media. The makers of the Roe v. Wade movie have encountered all kinds of hindrances in trying to advertise, and as Nick pointed out, the bias is disheartening.
But I encourage you to join with other pro-life believers and start a groundswell. Let's get involved. Let's make up our minds that we're not only going to see the film, but we're also going to take people to see it. I pray that, together, we will make this movie a success, because I believe this film has the potential to make a huge impact on our culture.
