WASHINGTON, D.C. — As President Donald J. Trump celebrated his 80th birthday, he triumphantly announced that he had finally struck a deal with Iran on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to begin winding down Operation Epic Fury.
“The deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete,” Trump announced on Truth Social at 5:29 p.m. Eastern on Sunday.
“Congratulations to all!” the president added. “I hereby fully authorize the toll-free opening of the Strait of Hormuz and, simultaneously, authorize the immediate removal of the United States naval blockade. Ships of the world, start your engines. Let the oil flow! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

The MOU sets into motion 60 days of additional negotiations between Washington and Tehran to finalize a comprehensive agreement.
Trump hopes the deal will end the fighting, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and bring down oil and gasoline prices.
He also hopes it will be praised by leaders at the G7 Summit this week and strengthen GOP (the Republican Party) prospects heading into the midterm elections in November.
But the deal is nowhere close to the “unconditional surrender” by Iran that Trump initially promised when the war began.
Skeptics and critics of the deal abound.
While some are heralding it as the deal of the century, others see it as a deal with the devil.
Critics say Trump has been too eager and that Tehran sensed this and played him.
Israeli officials are very worried that the deal makes too many concessions to Iran and will not sufficiently safeguard Israel and its Arab allies from Iran and its terror proxies.
I'm concerned as well, but I want to read the fine print before making a more careful assessment.
We'll be covering all angles in the days ahead on ALL ISRAEL NEWS.
That said, the energy markets certainly seemed happy about the news.
The price of a barrel of West Texas crude immediately dropped almost 5% on the announcement, falling to $80.76.
When 2026 began, the price was only $57.42 per barrel.
At its peak, oil reached $112.41 per barrel.
I'm boarding a flight soon to a European capital.
I'll publish more soon.
