Stories People Share
As I continued on our ministry tour across Texas with Christian Friends of Israel Jerusalem, with six in the van ranging from 37 years to 84 (three men and three women), I am amazed at the stories people tell me at each stop.
My tasks on this trip include driving the vast miles, overseeing the book table, and leading worship as called upon. But it also is giving a listening ear to the people who love to share their stories with me. (Especially the ladies, who we all know tend to speak with more words than us regular guys. Just sayin’.)
In Abilene, Texas, home of the Camp Barkeley Fellowship, the worship leader came to the book table and began telling me of her 25-year old Texas A&M daughter befriending a similar age Israeli man at college. He was on the soccer team.
Being the girl was a music major and loved to write songs, even in other languages, this young man helped her write a song in Hebrew and learn correctly how to pronounce the words as she would sing it.
This song became her “ending song” for her concerts.
The Jew said he was not”religious” but often in his encouraging words to her he unknowing quoted Scripture. She would then tell him that. (Someday he too will believe in the same Messiah.)
I love how the Lord Yeshua (Jesus) connects people. One New Man is what He is making us to be.
“The Messiah has made things up between us so that we’re now together on this, both non-Jewish outsiders and Jewish insiders. He tore down the wall we used to keep each other at a distance. He repealed the law code that had become so clogged with fine print and footnotes that it hindered more than it helped.
Then he started over. Instead of continuing with two groups of people separated by centuries of animosity and suspicion, he created a new kind of human being, a fresh start for everybody.” Ephesians 2:15, The Message
