Prayers Of Our Ancestors ✡ "May You Hear The Supplications Of Your Servant" - Israel365

May You hear the supplications of Your servant and of Your people Israel, which they shall pray in this place.

Today's Israel Inspiration

Throughout Scripture, we meet Biblical figures who prayed to the Almighty for all of their needs. Jewish tradition explains that prayer, however, is not meant to "change the mind" of the Almighty. What changes through prayer is us. By recognizing the Source of all of the blessings in our lives, we bring ourselves closer to God and elevate ourselves. This in turn brings down God's mercy upon us. Enrolling in a Biblical Hebrew course, like one offered by the the Israel Institute of Biblical Studies, will deepen your understanding of the beauty of the Bible.

What Does 'Amen' Mean in Hebrew?

We use and hear the word 'amen' so frequently in prayers and worship. Have you ever wondered about its real meaning?

The Jewish New Year: Rosh Hashana

Mentioned throughout Jewish sources, the sound of the shofar was used at various times, including at the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Today, the shofar is used on the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, when that same sound has the unique power to awaken our souls to the presence of its Infinite source, and to renew a vision of the spiritual connection we are meant to build in this world.
