When All Else Failed, Netanyahu Turned to Spiritual Guidance - Ryan Jones ISRAEL TODAY

When All Else Failed, Netanyahu Turned to Spiritual Guidance

Tuesday, November 20, 2018 |  Ryan Jones  ISRAEL TODAY
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government almost fell this week. According to new reports, it was saved thanks to a bit of spiritual intervention.
Last week, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman resigned and pulled his Yisrael Beiteinu party out of the coalition in protest over what many felt was a premature ceasefire in the latest round of Gaza fighting. Immediately after, Education Minister Naftali Bennett threatened to likewise quit the government along with his Jewish Home party if he wasn't appointed as the new minister of defense. That would have left Netanyahu with a minority coalition, and made early elections impossible to avoid.
Netanyahu fought back by insisting that there was a looming security crisis to which the public was not privy, but that necessitated keeping his government in power for as long as possible.
Many weren't convinced. Among them was the spiritual leader of Bennett's Jewish Home faction, Rabbi Haim Druckman.
According to Hadashot TV news, Netanyahu's people, including National Security Council head Meir Ben Shabbat, sought the rabbi's help in saving the ruling coalition from collapse. Druckman responded that he needed proof that what Netanyahu said about a looming crisis was true, and so he was purportedly shown classified security information.
The very next day, Bennett called a press conference and announced that he had dropped his ultimatum and would remain in Netanyahu's government under Netanyahu's terms.

PRAYER FOR ISRAEL AND GAZA & GREAT NEWS - Return Ministries

PRAY FOR ISRAEL AND GAZA
More than 470 rockets have been launched from Gaza at the South of Israel this week, injuring civilians and causing destruction. The Iron Dome has intercepted around 100 of them according to the IDF.
On Tuesday, Israel agreed to a ceasefire with Hamas. Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman resigned his post the next day, saying that the government has capitulated to terrorism.
Israel is in great need of intense prayer, for the government to make wise decisions, for a third Gaza war to be avoided and so much more. Let's stand together to build a Prayer Dome of protection over Israel and the Middle East through prayer and praise!
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Deuteronomy 31: 6

When the Arabs Shuttered Al Jazeera, but Israel Couldn't - Israel Today

When the Arabs Shuttered Al Jazeera, but Israel Couldn't

Tuesday, June 13, 2017 |  Israel Today Staff
The current regional crisis with Qatar has again demonstrated the bizarre position in which Israel often finds itself in the volatile Middle East.
Israel is often the victim of media slander, and even incitement. Sometimes, those media voices slander and incite against Arab governments, too.
One of the biggest differences is that the Arab governments, authoritarian as they are, quickly shut down the offending media, while Israel, the region's only true democracy, must endure the slander.
Such is the case with Al Jazeera.
Founded and largely owned by the rulers of Qatar, Al Jazeera has become a thorn in the side of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and other "moderate" Arab states.
Using the crisis with Qatar as an excuse, Saudi Arabia and Jordan this week shuttered the local Al Jazeera bureaus in their respective states.
Israel wishes it could do the same.
"Al-Jazeera is not media, it’s not journalism. It’s an incitement machine. It’s pure propaganda, of the worst variety, in the style of Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia," said Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman during a Knesset meeting on Monday.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly convened the relevant government agencies to explore the option of shuttering Al Jazeera's office in Jerusalem.
But for a nation that holds to true democratic rule of law, such things aren't so simple as they are in neighboring countries.
For starters, if the government moved against Al Jazeera, the network's first move would be an appeal to Israel's Supreme Court on the basis of freedom of the press. Even if the court ultimately sided with the government, the spectacle of an Arab news network suing Israel over freedom of the press wouldn't play well on the international stage.
And that's if the court sided with the government.
Israel's Supreme Court is notoriously liberal when it comes to the right of detractors to slander the Jewish state. Losing such a case would look even worse.
