I laid out gardens and groves, in which I planted every kind
of fruit tree

The New Year of the Trees

King Solomon's Gardens

How is it possible that King Shlomo (Solomon) planted every type of tree in his gardenwhen different trees require different climates in order to grow properly? Jewish tradition teaches that Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) is the heart and the center of the world from which the rest of the earth was created. Since Yerushalayim already contained the spiritual channels that lead to all other places, Shlomo was able to plant every type of tree in the ancient city, including many fruit trees such as the beautiful peach blossoms pictured above.

Bless the Holy Land with Flourishing Gardens ✡ "All Kinds of Fruit" - ISRAEL365

I made me gardens and parks, and I planted trees in them of all kinds of fruit.

Today's Israel Inspiration

How is it possible that King Solomon planted all kinds of fruit trees in his garden, if different trees require different climates in order to grow? The Sages say that in his wisdom, King Solomon understood that Jerusalem is the heart of the world, and the foundation from which the rest of the world was created. Since it contains channels that lead to all other places on earth, Solomon was able to plant all types of trees in Jerusalem. He knew, for example, which part of Jerusalem gives its strength to Africa and which location is connected to India, and was able to plant the trees of these climates in those areas. Israel's horticulturists have attempted to replicate King Solomon's actions by learning where in the Holy Land will each type of tree thrive. Over the years, their efforts have been a success and Israel's forests are consistently growing greener and truly flourishing.

What drives these idealists to pick up and move? For many, it is the fulfillment of the 2,000 year old dream of the returning of Jews from the exile.

The Biblical city of Shiloh, where today's photo was taken, is first mentioned in the book of Joshua (18:1) as the site of the holy Tabernacle: "And the whole congregation of Bnei Yisrael assembled themselves together at Shiloh, and set up the tent of meeting there; and the land was subdued before them."
