How is it possible that King Solomon planted all kinds of fruit trees in his garden, if different trees require different climates in order to grow? The Sages say that in his wisdom, King Solomon understood that Jerusalem is the heart of the world, and the foundation from which the rest of the world was created. Since it contains channels that lead to all other places on earth, Solomon was able to plant all types of trees in Jerusalem. He knew, for example, which part of Jerusalem gives its strength to Africa and which location is connected to India, and was able to plant the trees of these climates in those areas. Israel's horticulturists have attempted to replicate King Solomon's actions by learning where in the Holy Land will each type of tree thrive. Over the years, their efforts have been a success and Israel's forests are consistently growing greener and truly flourishing.
