The Children of Avraham ✡ "I Will Make Your Heirs As Numerous As The Stars Of Heaven" - Israel365

I will make your heirs as numerous as the stars of heaven, and assign to your heirs all these lands, so that all the nations of the earth shall bless themselves by your heirs
Genesis 26:4 (The Israel Bible™)

The Children of Avraham

Why are the children of Avraham (Abraham) compared to the stars? The poetess Chana Senesh was born in Hungary in 1921 and in 1939 she emigrated to what was then the British Mandate of Palestine. Senesh was a brave heroine who volunteered to leave her beloved Palestine in 1944 in order to fight with the partisans against the Nazis. Unfortunately, she was caught, tried for treason and eventually executed. In one of her beautiful poems she wrote, “There are stars whose radiance is visible on earth though they have long been extinct. There are people whose brilliance continues to light the world though they are no longer among the living. These lights are particularly bright when the night is dark. They light the way for mankind.” Like the stars in Senesh’s poem, the Jew’s role in this world is to light the way for mankind, despite the darkness we have encountered throughout our history. Today is the anniversary of the death of Chana Senseh. Read about this and other significant dates on the Jewish calendar in  Israel365's Daily Inspirations devotional.

Today's Israel Inspiration

In Genesis 26, Hashem warns Yitzchak not to escape the famine in the Land of Israel by fleeing to Egypt. Though Avraham went down to Egypt when there was a plague in Israel, and Yaakov likewise descended to Egypt toward the end of his life, Hashem told Yitzchak that he is not to leave the Land. Due to the unique spiritual status he acquired after being offered on the alter, Yitzchak was the only of the three forefathers to have never stepped foot outside the Holy Land. There are more than 170 references to the land that God gave to the offspring of Avraham, Yitzchak and Yaakov in the Bible. Hashem promised the Land of Israel to the Jews as an unconditional covenant. At least 12 of those times, He states that this covenant is everlasting. Israel Commemorates 9/11

Israel’s moving 9/11 memorial, created with remains from the Twin Towers and shaped into an American flag flickering like a flame in the wind, is the only one outside of the US with the name of every victim listed on it. Israel remembers.

Jewish Birthrate Rises in Fulfillment of Biblical Prophecy

While fertility rates around the world plummet, one nation stands out in stark contrast to this trend – Israel, where birth rates have been steadily rising for the past several decades in a phenomenon which appears to fulfill a promise made to Abraham in the Book of Genesis.
