Jerusalem Hangs New Street Signs for US Embassy
Tuesday, May 08, 2018 | Israel Today Staff
A week before the official transfer of the US Embassy to Jerusalem, municipal officials, including Mayor Nir Barkat, were spotted enthusiastically hanging new street signs pointing to the American mission.
Preparations for the festive inauguration of the US Embassy, which will be housed in the large existing consular facility in the Arnona neighborhood, are well underway.
"This is not a dream - it's reality!" Barkat wrote on Facebook under a photo of him personally hanging one of the new street signs. "This morning, I am proud and excited to install the first signs for the US embassy, which will open next week in Jerusalem. I thank President Trump for making this historic moment come to fruition. Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the Jewish people - and the world is beginning to recognize this fact. Happy Jerusalem Day!"
Some are still speculating that Trump himself will attend the embassy event, though officially the American delegation is slated to be led by Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin, along with Trump's daughter, Ivanka, and her husband, Jared Kushner.
