But from today's verse we see that Esther was not always an honored royal enjoying the king’s favor. She was a poor orphan of uncertain future, who was rescued and provided for her kind cousin, Mordechai. Today in the Holy Land, there are 817,200 children living in poverty, facing similar challenges to that of Esther before she was wedded to the king.
