Albert Einstein Wanted to Know 'God's Thoughts' - So What Does God Think About Israel?
Oct. 16, 2017 CBN News Tzippe Barrow
JERUSALEM, Israel – Twentieth century physicist Albert Einstein, perhaps best known for his theories on relativity (E = mc2), once said, "I want to know God's thoughts; the rest are details."
Thankfully, God's thoughts have been recorded for us in the canon of Scripture: 66 books, written by 40 ent authors over a period of 1,500 years. Not one word is irrelevant or haphazard. The more we study it, the more profound its life-changing message.
But setting aside time to study the Word can be enormously challenging in today's busy world. Many verses speak of His covenant with Israel.
"But I am the Lord your God Who divided the sea whose waves roared, the Lord of hosts is His name. And I have put My words in your mouth; I have covered you with the shadow of My hand that I may plant the heavens, lay the foundations of the earth and say to Zion, 'You are My people.'" (Isaiah 51:15-16)
It's been said we inherit the world's system by default, but understanding God's point of view takes more effort on our part. It comes by meditating on His Word and allowing it to reshape our thinking and draw us closer to Him. When we see people and events through the Word, it's a whole new perspective – very different than what's found in the media, especially when it comes to Israel.
"Remember these, O Jacob and Israel, for you are My servant; I have formed you, you are My servant; O Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me! I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions and like a cloud, your sins. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you." (Isaiah 44:21-22)
In today's tumultuous world, there seems to be more bad news than good. Media vies for our attention, often capitalizing on the bad news.
That reality is never more evident than in stories about Israel. There's no lack of explanations as to why Israel and the Jewish people have been targeted throughout the centuries. Yet despite sincere efforts by many, that predisposition doesn't appear to be diminishing.
So we're left with a choice. We can believe the media or we can believe God.
If we believe God will bring to fruition all that He's purposed, then we can bring everything before Him in prayer and trust the outcome to Him. Our challenge is to want His will to be done, His Kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven.
God set Israel apart from the rest of the nations and He will fulfill everything He's promised His covenant land and people.
"Hear the word of the Lord, O nations and declare it in the isles afar off and say, 'For the Lord has redeemed Jacob and ransomed him from the hand of one stronger than he.' Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, streaming to the goodness of the Lord – for wheat and new wine and oil, for the young of the flock and the herd; their souls shall be like a well-watered garden and they shall sorrow no more at all. (Jeremiah 31:10-12)
