Today, non-Muslim visitors who "go up to the Lord's mount," the Temple Mount, will be in for a surprise when told they are forbidden to bring their Bibles or prayer books. Religious Jewish visitors get additional restrictions, and are made to wait on a separate entry line, where no water or food is allowed, in fear that they may make a blessing to God, which is forbidden. As the Jews enter, they are systematically surrounded, each and every time, by Hamas-supported women who shout and harass them, until Israeli police quickly escort the Jews away. Rabbi Yehudah Glick is on a mission to ensure human rights for all faiths to safely visit and pray at the holiest place on earth, the Temple Mount. May we together bring closer the day envisioned by our prophets, when "many nations shall go, and they shall say, 'Come, let us go up to the Lord's mount and to the house of the God of Jacob."

Yesterday's photo depicted the Shrine of the Book in Jerusalem, which holds the Dead Sea Scrolls, the oldest known manuscripts of the Bible. The museum has a special mechanism allowing them to be transported underground for safekeeping in times of peril. |
