Fulfilling Words of Prophets, Children of Gush Etzion Return and Rebuild

The rebuilding of Gush Etzion, a Jewish settlement bloc in the Judean hills, after decades of destruction, devastation and death, represents not only a literal fulfillment of Biblical prophecy, but the continuing presence of God’s word in the land.

The Half Shekel

In Exodus 30, God commands Moses to count the Jewish Nation by collecting a half shekel from each individual- rich and poor alike. By counting the number of half shekels that were donated, Moses was able to determine the number of Jewish people in the nation. There is an important lessons to be learnt from this commandment. We, as individuals, can only succeed if we realize that we are figuratively each only 'half a shekel'. We need to know that each of us have unique gifts and talents bestowed on us by God to share with those around us. In order for this sharing to be done properly, we must remember that as much as want to teach and help others, we must also be open to accepting wisdom and help from others. With this sort of give and take between ourselves, we can turn each of our half shekels into a whole.

The strongest way to show a child the important aspects of life is by experiencing it with them first-hand. Here, a father shows his young son the pure joy in visiting the holiest spot in the world: the Western Wall.
