Colel Chabad is Celebrating 229 Years of Blessing Israel ✡ "Thou Hast Been a Refuge" - ISRAEL365

For Thou hast been a refuge for me, a tower of strength in the face of the enemy.

Today's Israel Inspiration

In the early period of Zionism, Jews sought to build up the Land of Israel, setting up agricultural settlements and hoping to live in peace with their neighbors in the Holy Land. In 1927, an organization purchased a plot of land south of Bethlehem and called their new settlement Migdal Eder, the name of a place that Jacob passed on his journeys through the land. Unfortunately, during the Arab uprisings in 1929, the settlement was destroyed. 50 years later, a new agricultural community, or ‘kibbutz,’ was created in the same area. It was given a similar name to its predecessor, but the current name was taken from Psalm 61 of King David’s psalms. In this verse, David speaks of God as his refuge, his migdal oz, or a "tower of strength", against his enemies. A follower of the Bible must always strive to emulate God and become a "tower of strength" for others. In 1788, Colel Chabad was established as just that: a source of inspiration and support for the elderly and poor of Israel.

Colel Chabad's Mission to Bless Israel is Supported By These Generous Souls

Since its inception in 1788, Colel Chabad has prevented starvation throughout the Land of Israel by contributing food and other needed items to the poor and elderly. Join us as we celebrate the faces behind the helping hands.

Shir Hajaj was a true example of what it means to be humbly performing charitable acts and we can only hope that this remarkable lesson will offer some comfort to her family and friends during this tragic time.

The Chords Bridge in Jerusalem was designed to resemble David's harp, a king whose youth as a skilled warrior enabled a successful conquest and defeat of the enemies of Israel. With each glance at the bridge, one is reminded of his strength, an inspiration to those who love the Holy City.

Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog: Through The Joshua Fund, Evangelical Christians are blessing Israel & her neighbors.

z-joshuafund-donorreport-2016

Through The Joshua Fund, Evangelical Christians are blessing Israel & her neighbors. Our 2016 Donor Report shares how we’re caring for the poor and needy, Holocaust survivors, and Syrian & Iraqi refugees, and strengthening the Church in the epicenter by God’s grace and your help.

by joelcrosenberg
How can Evangelical Christians truly bless Israel in the name of Jesus, according to the Abrahamic Covenant found in Genesis 12:1-3 in which God promises to bless those who bless His people?
At the same time, how can Evangelicals not simply be a blessing to Israel and the Jewish people, but to the Palestinians and Lebanese and Syrians and Jordanians and Egyptians and Iraqis, as well? Did not the Lord command us to love our neighbors and our enemies?
How, then, can we as Evangelicals truly and effectively pray for and financially invest in the work the Lord is doing to bless and care for all people of the epicenter, both Jews and Arabs?
These were some of the questions my wife, Lynn, and I were wrestling through in late 2005 and early 2006 when the Lord gave us the idea to start The Joshua Fund.
It's hard to believe that The Joshua Fund is already ten years old, but it's true. In that time, we have had the joy of seeing the Lord demonstrate His kindness and faithfulness to Jews and Arabs in so many ways.
This year-end Donor Report -- both text and short videos -- let's you step into the story for yourself. (please feel free to share it with others)
Come see how the Lord -- with your prayers and support -- is using TJF to care for the poor and vulnerable, widows and orphans, Holocaust survivors and refugees fleeing from Syrian and Iraq.
Come learn more about how He is using TJF to invest in pastors and ministry leaders who are preaching the Word of God, proclaiming the Gospel, and making disciples in Israel and the Arab world -- and seeing lives transformed for eternity.
