Fear - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Fear
- Now Think On This
by Steve Martin

“…men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” (Luke 21:26 NASU)

Fear is prevalent in our society. We are fearful of oncoming storms, both from natural weather patterns and within the economic world. Loss of a job, possible collapse of the stock market, or the internal anticipation of an unexpected accident or sudden illness can cripple our emotional health. Feeling powerless at times in being able to provide for your family or other loved ones can further heighten the effects of fear that reside within us.

Fear may keep one from speaking up when something wrong is seen or heard. Having fear will cause people to turn away when danger approaches, rather than stand and confront the situation head on. Being afraid of what may come one’s way may keep them from doing anything at all. Sitting back and letting it happen seems to be the easier way out at times, when in reality it only brings on more harm.

Even believing some form of retaliation will strike back at us, if we “come to the rescue” at moments of crisis, will keep us from acting. Fear keeps one from attempting to do right when righteousness should prevail, and therefore the right thing isn’t done.

“Don’t get involved” becomes the easy choice many take in these times we live in.

We see the results of fear within families, where a mother is afraid to speak up in defense of her child, knowing the father, or live-in boyfriend, will then lash out against her too. He has done it often before, so the same response is expected. The child is beat down, and the silence lives on.

A bully at school rages upon a younger classmate, while other students stand back and let it happen. Speaking up to a teacher would only bring ridicule upon themselves. So nothing is done and the pain continues on.

Having no one take your side and be a surrounding protectorate can lead one to the point of suicide. One tragedy unstopped leads to another tragedy fulfilled. If only the fear would cease, and replaced with courage to act. In far too many cases it does not.

Among the cities of our once free land here in America, we bow down to the demands of the 1%, who are slowly taking away our freedom, right before our eyes. If one person doesn't like the cross that has stood on the overlooking hill for the past 70 years, an outcry goes up, and the city council takes it down. The Ten Commandments, which have governed lawful societies for centuries, are removed from public view, for fear of the anti-Christian elements who decided it offends them.

Our schools have become murder scenes, decades later after prayer and the Judeo-Christian laws have been removed from them. "We can't force our religion on someone else" is so often quoted. So what about you forcing your ungodly standards on us?

Looks like the USA, Europe and once truth believing nations have gotten what the majority allowed the minority to have. Throw out the One True God and let the devil in. How is that working out for you?

The water is getting hotter in the frog's kettle, and few seem to notice, or care. The once lively creature will soon be cooked alive, having believed que sera sera. But soon he will be dead and gone.

On a much larger scale, one nation attacks another without challenge. Words spoken only of “peace” and “understanding” do nothing to stop the evil encroachment. And so the wrongful offensive continues on, unopposed by those who could, and should, stop it.

All these situations reflect the growing reality that comes when fear rules.

The Scripture speaks clearly of “men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world.” We sense the ominous approaching, as the darkness overtaking our nations slithers forward, being the snake that it is. It is affecting each and every one.

Scripture also boldly declares the answer, the very Word that we must trust in, while letting our faith solidly depend upon. It is to believe what the Lord Himself has already said.

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.' "Behold, all those who were incensed against you shall be ashamed and disgraced; they shall be as nothing, and those who strive with you shall perish.

You shall seek them and not find them — those who contended with you. Those who war against you shall be as nothing, as a nonexistent thing. For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, 'Fear not, I will help you.'” (Isaiah 41:10-13 NKJV)

Thus this word speaks to those who live in fear - believe on this, the Lord’s spoken Word, which is for you.

To the people of Israel, surrounded by enemies constantly seeking your destruction -  believe this word spoken through your Messiah’s prophet Isaiah.  Know that your Jewish brother, Yeshua HaMasiach, is your Defender.

We will also continue to love and support you, and stand beside you. When called upon, we shall give our lives for the purpose of our uniting King.

And when the Spirit of the Lord comes upon us, to speak up, to stand up and to move forward in righteousness and courage, we will see the Lion of the tribe of Judah leading us both on.

Let it be so, even as it is written:

“Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly. And he said, "Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: 'Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's.

Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel. You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!' Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you." (2 Chronicles 20:14-17 NKJV)

Overcome fear, by having the word of the Lord Jesus in your head and in your heart. He is the answer we need at this hour. There is no other.
