A Special Lesson From the Lubavitcher Rebbe ✡ "Joseph Sustained His Father" - ISRAEL365

And Joseph sustained his father and his brothers and his father's entire household [with] bread according to the young children.

Today's Israel Inspiration

The Lubavitcher Rebbe gave a beautiful insight into the meaning of the words "according to the children" in today's verse. When young children eat, they are prone to drop crumbs on the floor, thereby wasting some of their food. Joseph of biblical times was so sensitive to each person, that he made sure to give the children "according to their needs", i.e. a little more food so that they would have enough to eat despite some waste. Following in this special tradition is Colel Chabad, Israel's oldest continuous charity since 1788, which provides orphans, widows and desperate seniors with food baskets, hot meals and sustenance year-round. Help to deliver emergency aid -- blankets, groceries, hot meals and medicine -- to the neediest of the Holy Land.

The Stories are Heartbreaking. The Help is Life-Saving.

It is difficult to imagine that in a country known for its hi-tech advances, so many cannot afford to buy food. Yet, that is the reality in today’s Holy Land.

Pomegranate Necklace Made With Roman Glass

The Rimon Necklace is a blue and green Roman Glass ensconced in a beautiful Sterling Silver pomegranate. Roman Glass was discovered during archaeological digs in Israel and date back to the Roman era, nearly 2,000 years ago. Thanks to the perfect balance of geological and climatic conditions, Israel is one of the few places in the world that was able to form and preserve the amazing colorful glass.

Today's Israel Photo

Look at how the Bible comes to life in Israel! This wheat field is in Mevo Dotan ("Dotan's approach"), a village near the ancient town of Dotan, mentioned in the Bible as the place where Joseph finds his brothers in the field (Genesis 37:17).
