Season's greetings and Hanukkah surprises! - ONE FOR ISRAEL

Dr Erez Soref President of  ONE FOR ISRAEL
Shalom!

The Christmas and Hanukkah holidays coincide this year, but for us who believe, the center of it all is Yeshua: Light of the world. We are so grateful for everything that He has done among us this year, and so grateful that you are with us on the journey.

Many blessings from us to you and your kin!

AND YOU SHALL CALL HIS NAME...

Immanuel, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, Jesus, Yeshua...

The name of our Savior is so precious and important, and in Hebrew the name is "Salvation": YESHUA! Most Israelis are not used to hearing his proper Hebrew name, but when they hear it, the impact is strong. The penny drops and the lights often come on, like they did for this person who recently started to message us!

Please pray for this man, that he would become a strong disciple of Yeshua who would lead many more to faith. Isn't it great that people are hearing about Yeshua in Israel more and more - through conversations at work and with friends?! It's a new day in Israel! And we are so glad that, together with you, we are able to provide all the information that Jewish people need when they start to search on the internet about Yeshua. Israelis can search anonymously, and then make contact with us when they are ready. It is such a privilege to be able to help them come to faith in their Messiah in this way.

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

This past week, the daughter of our dear faculty member, Oleg Korotky, was in a very serious car accident. Angelina sustained life threatening injuries, including head injuries. Oleg and his wife Svetlana will arrive in the US later today to be with their daughter.

Angelina left Israel to study in California at the end of the summer. She is a godly young lady who loves to sing. She is a student at Masters College.

We ask you to please join the One for Israel / Israel College of the Bible family as we cry out to God for healing for Angelina, and grace for the Kortotky family.

ISAIAH 9 AND THE DAY OF MIDIAN

As the Christian world gears up for Christmas, the wonderful prophecy of Isaiah 9:6 "Unto us a son is born", will come into focus once again. But perhaps less familiar to many is the treasure just two verses before it:

"For the yoke of his burden, and the staff for his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as on the day of Midian." (Isaiah 9:4) What does he mean by the "Day of Midian"? Continue reading...

CELEBRATING HANUKKAH

"At that time, they were celebrating the feast of Hanukkah in Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the colonnade of Solomon." (John 10:22-23)

Jesus' best friend, John, tells us that Jesus was in Jerusalem for Hanukkah; the Feast of Dedication. So why don't his followers celebrate it too? Well, some of them do. Hanukkah is a Jewish feast, but not one of God's commanded feasts in the Bible. The holiday is famous for its nine-branch candlestick (instead of the seven-branch one mentioned in Exodus) and donuts! But the roots of the Feast of Dedication might be more Biblical than most people realize. Even Jewish people might be surprised! Continue reading...
